Proud Veteran owned and operated business! Our farm is located within Jefferson National Forest in Craig County Virginia and one of the most scenic in our state. We have about 500 acres and only groomed camp spots with the closest two being 350 yards apart, so privacy is not a concern and what you will get. All but one of our spots are directly beside a crystal-clear creek (Johns Creek) and the other is nestled in the woods at the end of a field beside one of our ponds. Wildlife abounds at all spots, we even have Bald Eagles that are on our farm everyday. Once you see and experience our farm, we know you will absolutely love your decision for choosing us to stay with. We are very close to great hiking and biking as well. Only mins away from Virginia's Triple Crown of Hiking including McAfee Knob (the most photographed spot on the entire Appacian Trail). How The Country, LLC got its name: Being raised in Roanoke VA, I was “always” asking my parents if we were going to “The Country” where my grandparents lived in what we now call our little slice of heaven. After spending over 30 years away in the USAF (WTH...POL!!!), we returned home and couldn't wait to find a way to let others enjoy all our farm and the place I have always loved more than anywhere in the world! When trying to come up with the name, it came down to Granny and Granddaddy’s or The Country and you can guess which one we though would be the best! 😊 Portions of our farm are in its 5th generation (me) of ownership, and I hope it stays in our family for many years to come. That my friends is how and why "The Country, LLC" came to be and got its name! We will do everything we can to make your stay, no matter how long or short a special one! We pride ourselves in customer service, privacy, settings. You won’t find what we have anywhere else!!! Check us out on Facebook or call for more details, and book a reservation with us! We can't wait to see you and we're sure you will love it!

The Pond
Camping on the river!
My family & I tent camped on the river, & we had a BLAST. The fishing was definitely the best part! And All of his campsites are in fantastic locations! We came for the weekend and ended up broke down with 2 flats- Dean & his wife were absolutely wonderful & MORE than accommodating. If it wasn’t for him we would have been broke down with 2 kids & 2 flat tires all night. 10000/10 would recommend and we will definitely be back very soon!! Thank y’all!

Tiny House (Camp, Fish, Swim)
We had such a great time. It’s very beautiful place right next to the river. Campgrounds are not too close to each other. It’s very clean , highly recommend! Would definitely go again. Dean and his wife were so kind and friendly, they explained us everything and we felt very welcomed.

Creekacabana (Camp, Fish, Swim)
A long weekend in paradise
This site was perfect! It’s very private, right on the river, and Dean & Dana were amazing hosts. Sites are so spaced apart you’ve definitely got freedom and we never once heard anyone else- but it was also nice to not be 100% secluded. We spent a nice chunk of time enjoying the stars & lightning bugs that took over the field every night- which we rarely get to experience living in the city. Fairly certain our dogs were convinced they were in actual heaven. Bring a float and tie yourself to a tree, you won’t regret it. We’ll be back!

Tiny House (Camp, Fish, Swim)
We really enjoyed our stay at Tiny House. It was peaceful and secluded. Definitely worth the price to not have neighbors right on top of your site. Dean stopped by for a little chat, which was nice. He gave us some recommendations on hiking and some forest service roads to drive. We ended up taking Tub Run Rd. It was a pretty and windy 14 miles, no big views, but an enjoyable ride. Must be in an off-road capable vehicle. Otherwise we just enjoyed hanging out in the water and around the campsite. It was nice to have the metal table and chairs already there. We’ve already talked about going back again. Thanks for a peaceful getaway!

Broken Knee Spot (Camp, Fish, Swim)
We loved staying at Dean’s camp. We were secluded from other campers. Also, being right next to the creek was great.
