The property has been in the family since before the town of Royalton was founded. In 1780, Garner Rix was 13 years old. He was captured in the Royalton Raid and taken to Montreal where he was sold to a woman who kept him safe for a year until it was safe for him to walk home, by himself, at age 14, and when he got back home the town gave him the land that I live on. Garner Rix was my great, great, great, great grandfather.

Glamping in the Barn!
Great rustic experience!!
The barn was certainly a unique and cool exoerience. We arrived to a friendly face, an amazing oeoprty which we hiked and explored. The barn was chilly but the extricate blankets ensured we were super warm. I actually had to turn mine off. Then breakfast was not only tasty but came with great stories and I was lucky enough to grab a fresh egg from the chickens for breakfast- Highly recommended!!!

Delicious breakfast and cozy cabin
Royalton Bnb was perfect for what we were looking for, a cozy and relaxing getaway in beautiful mountains. The cabin is neatly decorated with a big kitchen, a little reading area, a clean bathroom, and a comfortable bed. They also have stable wifi if you want to stay in bed and watch some movies on your laptop. The breakfast was one of the highlights, Evenlyn's jam is very tasty and the eggs were so fresh. Highly recommend! Thank you for hosting us :)

Summer get away
The bucolic fields surrounding this historic BNB And platform tent are incredibly pretty, as is the interior decor of the tent. It was spacious for two of us, and we really loved wandering among the many roaming chickens. The town nearby is sweet and we enjoyed the summer weekend offerings. We look forward to returning, including the home made quiche and jams!!

Restful nights, bucolic views
Wow. Everything a stressed out Washingtonian needed to get away: quiet mountains blanketed by mist in the morning, well maintained land to meander, and fantastic food. I'm not quite a foodie but I've gotten used to the good stuff in the city, and the fresh farm eggs/veggies exceeded my expectations. Probably the best quiche I've ever had (sorry mom). The host was very responsive and helpful with suggestions for area activities. I came with two young kids, and I would have planned a third night if I had known there was so much to do. The corn crib was clean and tastefully decorated. It was hot when we first walked in but cooled down quickly with open windows and running fans.

A lovely long weekend getaway!
An excellent stay! Communication with Evelyn was quick and it was very easy to find. The Corn Crib itself was cozy and pleasant, and the included breakfasts were all delicious. The chickens are adorable, and a pleasure to have around. (that said, maybe bring a pair of earplugs for the sunrise clucking). The property was beautiful, even in the rain, and the surrounding hiking was great too. Highly recommend!

We had a great time at the corn crib! Breakfast each morning was delicious and the portions were very generous. The cabin stayed nice and cozy the whole weekend (I get cold easily but I was consistently warm enough). Our hosts were very helpful in responding to requests and giving us tips on things to do. As far as Covid protocols, we felt totally comfortable and our hosts took all the necessary precautions. Would definitely visit again!

Evelyn was such a lovely host! We were greeted right away and were treated to some complimentary pickles and honey, yum! We got a HUGE breakfast each morning which was so yummy. The space was super warm and cozy even when it got down to 9 degrees one night. Also, we had a fun cat visitor each night who was sweet. The shower was nice and hot and the place had everything you needed for a nice getaway. Evelyn also lent us some snowshoes and we explored the property a bit as well as fed the chickens. Would definitely recommend the cabin to others, thanks again!

Wonderful stay at the Corn Crib! Our hosts were very kind and accommodating, asking when we preferred breakfast in the morning. Although seemingly under a bit of renovation, the cabin was beautiful, cozy and fully stocked with delights like coffee and tea! Comfortable bed, beautiful linens and great heating! Relaxing and amazing stay!
The Corn Crib and surrounding property were beautiful and we greatly enjoyed our stay. Evelyn was accommodating and ready to do anything to make our stay great. She made us delicious breakfasts that were delivered contact-free and accommodated dietary needs. She was excited to tell us about the rich history of her property and the things to explore nearby. The full kitchen in the Corn Crib was wonderful for cooking meals and the claw foot bathtub was a great way to relax. It also had excellent heating and kept us warm from the cold Vermont winter. Evelyn’s property was breathtaking. There was lots of nature to explore and even a gorgeous waterfall just a short walk away. Just waking up to the views of the mountains every morning is worth it!

Relaxing Getaway
We stayed in Evelyn's barn which she described as a "step up from camping". It was super cute, the bed was comfortable and she provided a heated blanket. Breakfast each morning was delicious. Overall, we would recommend this as a place to stay and would visit again in the future.
