Yeah! Summer is here and Fall is around the corner! Making plans for the family, a group of friends, or a romantic getaway, perhaps a bike tour or trip across New England? Art and Health Chill Camping will exceed your expectations. A hot sauna to a pottery class, sacred geometry gardens with pathways through the pollinator gardens all lead to diverse camp sites for tents hammocks, vans and even a school bus or small rv. The Hive [xxxxxxxx] cabins, rustic cabin, or bedroom also offer queen beds. Common space includes wifi, a kitchen with frig access, full bath, and living room and with deck. The Milky Way, fireflies, and beauty surround you as well as the lack of noise and light pollution. Be prepared to be "experience how extraordinary the ordinary is!" Organic Certified veggies, herbs, medicinal s, and edible flowers are available, throughout the season. I have approximately 70 varieties foraged and planted. I am developing a garden of dyeing flowers, as well. Art classes and materials are available, for pottery [ beginner to advanced.] as well as sketching, fabric dyeing, plen air, or making mandalas. I do have leather tools, sewing machines, and stained glass. Bring your project or try a new one. Lots of space in the common barn area for group lesson, or set up a spot and enjoy all by yourself! Cabot has lots to offer for day trips, be it water sports, rail trail on bikes or walking, music, and cultural events, or purchasing fresh milk, beef, eggs, apples, cheese, or homemade breads, all from Cabot. Contra Dance, music from Cabot Arts, or at the Den our local pub, are 2 miles away. The Bread and Puppet, Highland Center for the Arts, Barre Oprah house, art galleries, etc within an hour drive in any direction. A great place for children, I have swings and trees to climb, games, archaeological digs, scavenger hunts finding 10 different antique farm implements, and learning how they were used, to learning about mini microbe's and how to be friends with pollinators. Massage including scar release, and MPS, Cranial Release, energy work with tuning forks and singing bowls are available. Singing bowl concert in the gardens can also happen! Expect the unexpected!   Cooler days and incoming snow will only entice you to cozy up by the wood stove in the cabin, or stay in your heated van, or Winter tent under the pines! Cabot is a central hub to choose from 5 ski resorts within a hours drive. The Vt Rail trail is great for winter bikes or x country. Unique offerings include a health component from sauna to masssage. The pottery studio is available for classes or private lessons including Raku firings. Yoga and movement classes are also available in the barn, in the fields or in the Flower of Life meditation garden and labyrinth. The outside garden and 100 ft hoop house is filled with organic vegetables and edible flowers for your enjoyment. The Herb Barn is for drying flowers and creating tinctures and ointments. The Art Gallery in the old milk house is filled with pottery and art work. Bring your easel and paint brushes, learn a new craft, or relax in the sauna. Bike trails are being established throughout Cabot, right out the front door. There are ponds for swimming within a few miles., There are many options for water sports minutes away at Joe's Pond, and many others. The rail trails are less than 10 minutes. Organic beef, raw milk and fresh eggs are around the corner at Molly Brook Farm. Maple Sugar at Goodrich's and fresh blueberries and veggies at Blossoms and Berries, as well as Burtt's Apples . Cabot Arts offers amazing music events. Contract dance, fiddling at the Den or 2 great resturants and bar with [xxxxxxxx] 2 miles away.

Full size memory foam bed allows you to gaze into the woods or East toward the Flower of Life gardens. Sweet table and chair for journaling or enjoying your fresh garden goodies! Stay dry and cozy any time of year! Space accommodates only 2.( although 3 adults loved it!) Fire Pit outside the door. You supply the sleeping bags or linens. and cooking gear. ( there is a communal kitchen and bath) electric is possible for small heater. The sauna, massage, and pottery studio are also available. Snowshoe or cross country out the door.

Cozy Rustic Cabin has a queen bed and wood stove. Rustic in that this cabin has been made by 9 different people and is quit interesting I do not supply linens or kitchen equipment, although the communal kitchen and facilities is a short walk.. The porch area has room for skis and luggage as well as a frig and counter top for cooking. no stove provided, and the electric went out this winter. oops You can snow shoe in and park close by. This site can accommodate a large group perhaps 4 or 5 tents, rv, and a few cars, please book separately but the area has a great sunset view of Mansfield. Come for a night stay for a week! enjoy the fire pit also.

As colder weather approaches I am offering the 1 bedroom (queen) in the communal living space, (with kitchen, living room and bath). Your 2 miles from all the activities now happening in Cabot, great food, music, contra dance, and other special events. Bring your snow shoes, or cross country right out the door. When you return the sauna and massage is available. The 1 bedroom has queen bed, shared living room, kitchen and bath. It is the communal space shared by other campers, ( not to many all winter!) and also where I offer massages. Sauna available. Just being your self . Relax and enjoy!6

For anyone considering this property, we strongly recommend reading all of the reviews, including the negative and mixed ones, and asking very specific questions about expectations and boundaries before booking. In retrospect, those reviews would have given us useful context. Our stay started out genuinely positive. My partner and I arrived around 7:30 p.m., as previously communicated, and received a warm welcome from our host, Sandy. We were genuinely appreciative of Sandy’s help and enjoyed our early conversations about plants, alternative living, and the property. Unfortunately, the experience took a very jarring turn on our second morning. We had been cooking our meals over the campfire and had not been given specific instructions or rules. After breakfast, we placed the screen securely over the fire pit and walked the short way to the common area to wash dishes. A few logs were smoldering, but nothing was sticking out of the pit or obstructing the screen. As we were walking back, Sandy flew by in her UTV and abruptly put out the remaining smoldering fire. Before we could even greet her, she began yelling at us. She accused us of having “left” the campsite, filling her property with smoke, and disrespecting her resources. She also said we could have burned down her property. It had rained every night we camped there. The intensity of the reaction was completely unexpected and unacceptable. No boundaries were ever expressed to us about leaving a covered, contained fire.

Beautiful location- with lovely landscaping and lots of spots to choose from. Nicely appointed bath house and kitchen area if needed. Took advantage of the massage therapy after a long trip from NC and was wonderful. Sandy is an excellent host. She showed us around the gorgeous hoop houses and is very knowledgeable about various plants and appreciated the time she took to answer questions. She has great suggestions on places to visit- and property is great location to visit white mountains and many of the picturesque Vermont towns. Highly recommend!!

Overall I had a good experience. The cabin itself had a musty/moldy smell that I found bothersome, but it did keep me dry on a rainy night. Property is really lovely with fantastic gardens. Hot shower, kitchen, and wifi in common area all worked without issue. Sandy was friendly and welcoming. I had initially intended to tent camp and think that experience would be a better value, but I was there on a very rainy night and was grateful to have the option for a roof over my head.

Sandy was a wonderful host! She greeted us when we arrived and had the sauna heated up and ready to go, which was such a nice touch. She was very easy to get in touch with and always available whenever we needed anything. The space itself is unique, cute, beautiful, and so relaxing. We highly recommend staying here and can’t wait to come back!

This was our second time at Sandy’s property and we can’t decide what our favorite season to visit is! There are so many amazing qualities: privacy, lack of light pollution, views, etc. that already have us planning our next visit. The sauna is an absolute must for us as it completely helps us rejuvenate our souls.

My girlfriend and I had a great time enjoying the views and the atmosphere of Sandy’s farm. Great sunsets! The main house was clean and super convenient to use. Sauna is a must as well. Sandy’s freezer was also stocked with delicious Ben and Jerry’s ice cream :)

For anyone looking to experience a deeper connection with the earth, this is the place for you! My husband and I loved our time at Back Roads Farm. Sandy was a marvelous host and we enjoyed our pottery class with her immensely! The grounds are beautifully maintained and well thought out and the access to a kitchen and bathroom were a huge plus. We hope one day we can return!

We loved our stay here. We arrived a bit late, but Sandy took us around to see the property and explained everything in detail, even where to go for a dip in a pond and to see the sunset. We set up our tent on an open field on the top of a hill. One thing that struck me was at night, just how incredibly quiet it was. Not a peep to be heard at our spot. But the birds were out singing their songs in the morning. If you have a chance, absolutely stay here.

The experience at Sandy's was second to none. The directions were clear and her land was easy to find, she was an incredible host and made sure we had everything we possibly could've needed and more. The singing bowl concert and pottery class were delightful, and getting to soak in her knowledge while we walked throughout her expansive gardens was simply divine. We will definitely be returning, and cannot recommend it enough!
