For years, the McPhetridge family dreamed of owning land. Their goal has always been to be as self sufficient as possible while also helping the community. Their dream became a reality in 2018 when they moved to their 11 acre farm. They began farming hemp in 2019 as a way to raise funds for the farm. They have many animals on the farm that tend to vary a bit year to year. They love working the land and sharing their passion with others.

We had a lovely stay at the farm! The hosts were both gracious and knowledgeable about all the animals so we learned a lot AND had fun. An unbeatable combination. A special shout-out to Becca who was great about helping us warm up to the animals and was an all around pleasure to visit with.

Camping with farm animals!
We had a great time! My grandson absolutely loved all the animals. The chicken and rooster that knocked at the door, well pecked at the door, were very entertaining. We want to visit again! You won't be disappointed.

Bus Camper
We had a great weekend away at Joni’s farm! The bus isn’t insulated so know that if you’re looking to book in really hot or cold seasons. There is a heater and A/C that seem like they’d work well most of the year. The bus is located close to Joni’s residence so you are close to the farm and house. Spending time with the baby goats and other animals was a highlight for us!

Not a happy camper...
The heaters provided were plugged in and then blew out the fuse, which could not be found at 1 am, and so I spent the night awake and cold from that time onward. There were also insufficient blankets, and much grime and dirtyness, including dirty dishes ut away in cabinet. The host Joni did not show any care or concern about the fact I had no heat and therefore no sleep, although she fixed the problem in the morning. She did not offer any words of concern about the lack of the heated space that was promised for the nightly fee charged, and did not offer to refund me.

My daughters loved being in contact with all the animals and loved Joni´s daughter, who was such a sweet host to them, allowing them to tag along while looking for eggs, feeding the animals, or walking down to the waterfall. Very hospitable family! We loved our stay.

Exceptional service + amazing time!
Absolutely recommend! All of the animals were awesome and I love that they have them all living cohesively together. We were able to feed all of them and even were able to bring some of our own produce! Rosie the horse was my favorite, although Hurricane the cow gives the best kisses! All of the farm animals were great, but we especially loved the dogs and barn kitties. Joni was an amazing host, her and her family showed us a great time and even made sure we had great dinner recommendations. They also provided a nice warm fire, under a beautifully home made gazebo, during a cold NC day. The RV was perfect for a couple. We enjoyed some provided games and movies the one night that we were there. The town is small and quaint but we were made to feel welcome. I loved waking up to a big flock of guinea fowls running around outside of the RV. 10/10 would recommend to anyone wanting to get out of the city and just relax. I really appreciated that they left us alone to wander around and pet animals but when we wanted to chat, they were there! All of the linens were clean and the heat was on when we arrived. We felt safe and comfortable the entire time. Only downside? The roosters like to start up around 5:30 am 😋

Welcoming family spot!
Even though we were arriving later in the evening Joni and her family were very welcoming! Got the fire pit ready for our arrival, & even made a special trip out to the pasture so our boy could meet some of animals. His fave was Nosey Rosey for sure, but Hurricane the cow was my favorite! We will definitely be returning for another visit! 💙

Great host, unique stay
My wife, 8yo boy, 11yo girl, and I stayed here over a weekend to do some activites in neighboring Raleigh. And the stay was wonderful! It was a very unique experience staying on Joni's farm. Joni was very hospitable, making sure we felt welcome. When you arrive you will be shown the camper and farm animals. They are great! There is a cow and horse that both want all sorts of attention. There are also dogs, cats, chickens, donkeys, piglets, guineas, goats, with unusual breeds and colors. Joni also showed us her henp farming operation and her lab. Was very unique! The camper itself was comfortable. We set the AC fan to run through the night, drowning out the rooster's morning wakeup. So at the price we paid for two nights, a wonderful host, and uniquely fun environment, all four of us thought staying here was great!

Great for animal lovers
If you love interacting with all kinds of farm animals, you'll love it here. Joni was very accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed and introducing us to all the animals, who just happen to love the attention. When we weren't at the farm, we enjoyed the lovely nearby town of Wake Forest. Thank you, Joni. We hope to visit you again.
