Possum Trot was in the Wilson family since the Civil War. Jess inherited the land and moved his maternal grandmother's log cabin from Laurel County onto Possum Trot for a future retirement home. In time, they added on to the cabin and moved into it permanently. With family and friends, they created the main camp complex at the Wigwam and other buildings, where they built a welcoming environment for others to come and enjoy this beautiful land of the Appalachians. We continue that heritage by opening our camp to those who love the rustic wilderness of Appalachia!

Amazing stay!
This was perhaps the best campsite we've ever visited, and our hosts were absolutely wonderful! They were so friendly, helpful, and generous that even if the place hadn't been absolutely gorgeous (which it was) we would probably come back just for them! I highly recommend stopping here. The campsite we were in was spacious, cleared and flat but surrounded on three sides by woods and pretty private. We were able to pull right up to the site and it was an easy walk to the bathhouse and potable water. The bathhouse was clean and adorable. You could tell it was well cared for. Our hosts provided us with so may things including firewood, but there was also plenty to be found if you walked around a bit. The pond we visited was just beautiful and we really just had the best time wondering around, petting dogs, catching fish, and hanging out under the stars. I can't say enough good things about this place and the family who owns it. We are already planning another trip soon to bring our kids!

Possum Trot was a perfect almost off the grid camping experience. Quiet, peaceful, and safe location to have some family time. Bathroom/Bathouse rustic but very clean. Hosts are awesome and very kind. Trails are beautiful. Lots of extras available, just ask Mike or Kelly before you pack. Thank you for a great extended weekend!

(Awesome) Possum Trot
What a place! Camping at Possum Trot blew our minds. My girlfriend and I practically had all 230 acres to ourselves, only sharing it with a few sheep and a couple of great pyrenees pups.
Both Mike and Kelly were very welcoming and were great hosts. After showing us to our site, Mike even gathered firewood and brought us to their private fishing pond where we later caught catfish, bass and sunfish. There are even bathrooms and showers, which were described as "cute" by my girlfriend. Lastly, with almost no light pollution, we were treated to a vivid night sky and even a few falling stars right from our camp site.
We live over 6 hours away, but if we ever find ourselves back in Kentucky, Possum Trot is where we'll stay.
Thanks again Mike and Kelly!

Incredible views and amazing hosts.
We were blown away by the hospitality of our hosts and the incredible property that we got to stay on. The property is hundreds of acres of beautiful woods including a small lake, pond, hiking trails through the forest, and a hobby farm with sheep, goats, and guineas. There is also a pony and a donkey that roam part of the property. There are two beautiful Great Pyrenees dogs that watch over the property and they are very friendly and keep bears and other critters away. Kelly and Mike live on the property with their children and run a Christian camp for kids there. There were no campers present when we were there, but they let us use the bath house and all of the amenities that they have available for the kids. We set up our tent in a grassy area surrounded by trees and Mike provided us with a fire ring and firewood.
It was very private and extremely quiet during the night. Mike is truly one of the kindest and most helpful people I have ever encountered and was there to help every step of the way. I would recommend this experience for anyone staying in the area, it will definitely exceed your expectations!
