Peaceful oasis!
Bart was an incredibly warm and responsive host. His location is amazingly luxurious yet simple and remote. We wish we had stayed put and hiked locally vs our plan to hit RRgG in retrospect. Truly a gem.

Tent camping is great at Bart’s place; you can park your car right next to your camp site. Bart has a very quiet and beautiful place to camp.

Smokey Comfort
Nice spot in mountain valley with rustic amenities (open kitchen, open shower, compost toilet). The weather was a wet Smokey Mt. feel and we were still comfortable.

This campsite was really awesome. We booked it while passing through but are definitely interested in coming back to explore!! We were pleasantly surprised that it’s more than one campsite and also that there were a few awesome mountain dogs in the vicinity. Everyone was very nice.

BEAUTIFUL Retreat
This place is beautiful. Perfect retreat if you want to get away from all the noises and stress of the city. The supermarket and other stores are just a drive away. Beautiful scenery, lots of wile life and plenty of vegetation but the most AMAZING view is at night when the lightning bugs come out on a clear night, it looks like the stars are dancing with you, it is gorgeous. Very secluded, must make sure to have a reliable vehicle, not ideal cars low to the ground. There poison ivy in the area and ticks so be prepared.

Serene valley, beautiful views, nature soundscape. This campsite has it all- the outdoor kitchen and spring water + outhouse make it even more convenient and perfect for a quick getaway

This is our go-to spot for the red river gorge area, although Bart's land is so lovely in itself, there's really no reason to leave! I was so happy to meet Bart and Marie and their boys, since last year they were not there when we stayed. We look forward to coming back and exploring more of the property.

Tent Camping with Hikes for Dogs
Great one night getaway 2 hours from Louisville. Bart has done amazing things with the property and is very gracious in sharing it with his guests. His family uses the A-frame on the property when they can. The tent site has enough space away from the main camp to get some privacy and let dogs wander a little. Yet close enough to enjoy the amenities. We hiked up the hill behind the A-frame (it’s an adventure), explored some trails on top of the hill, and enjoyed taking the dogs on the road through several creek crossings.

A beautiful and peaceful piece of property! Bart and his family were very nice and welcoming, and we loved exploring with our pup and relaxing by the fire.

Great Campsites!
Barts campsites are fantastic! He really takes care of his property and the LUXURIOUS WI-FI was awesome to have for those like me who forgot to download maps before you leave! We have the place all to ourselves and got to checkout all the sites and walk around a bit. All sites are clean and in great shape. Unfortunately, it rained as bad as Forrest Gump describes and we left a day early. But definitely will stay again. Bart is very communicative and helps you in anyway he can! Thanks again Bart!!!

Our stay here was amazing. Everything was exactly as stated and our host, Bart, was super helpful. Bart provided excellent directions, and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The site is private and very beautiful. The outhouse up the hill, with a view of the woods, was a really nice touch!

Beautiful Little Escape
Tucked away in the hills of the Daniel Boone National Forest, this piece of land is a great place to stay whether you’re just passing through or visiting the Gorge or looking to be away in nature like myself. Bart has thought of everything and anything you could need is available - running water, an outhouse, electric, a kitchen area. There is also a beautiful wildflower garden I was thankful to catch at the end of the season. There is a trail up to the top of the hill and it is STEEP but very much worth it once you reach the top, I enjoyed setting my hammock up and soaking in the views from up top. All in all, highly recommend a stay.

It was my second time visiting Bart's property, and it was as great as the first time! Was able to bring some friends along, and they all loved the site. The outdoor kitchen, fire rings, and of course outhouse accommodated our needs perfectly.
Got to hike up the hill trail on site- it was challenging and provided a lot of laughs -

What a treat to camp here, a genuine outdoor camping experience - the location is perfect for a peaceful weekend in nature, the scenery is beautiful, the stars were magnificent. The creek is lovely to swim in and the hike up the mountain is challenging and so much fun! The campsite was spacious, we enjoyed the outdoor kitchen and the outhouse has the best views!
It was great to meet Bart who shared so much information on the area.
The drive up is a bit steep and if very wet it could be a problem, but we managed fine.
This is a great spot - we loved it!

Idyllic grass and wooded campsite.
We very much enjoyed our time at this property. The host was both personable and communicative. He sent us a map of the property to explore, and made himself available if we would have had any questions. He’s done some very cool things with the property that we haven’t seen at other hipcamps we’ve stayed at. We enjoyed waking up to the view of the mountains, the sounds of the wildlife throughout the evening and the calm retreat we found at this property. The outdoor kitchen is a lovely touch and we appreciated having a large area to set up our kitchen gear and enjoy our meals. We also took advantage of the yoga deck in the woods and enjoyed some time stretching in the solitude of the forest after a long day of hiking. It was wonderful. We usually primitive camp, and have never come across an outhouse as clean and pleasant as the one at the property. It was very well-kept and I appreciated the screen window in the back of the outhouse which allows for airflow in the building and likely keeps smells at bay. The outdoor shower was also incredibly refreshing after a hot, humid day hiking in the RRG or exploring their property. The property does have some hiking trails, but we didn’t take advantage of them this trip since we already had a plan of the RRG hikes we wanted to do. We definitely will explore the trails on the property when we return!
This property offered an incredible retreat to solitude while still being within driving distance to the RRG. I look forward to visiting again and would highly recommend to others!

Idyllic grass and wooded campsite.
What a special few days we spent here! This campsite is gorgeous! The outdoor kitchen is spectacular, especially at night. The composting outhouse is probably the nicest I have ever seen. We were happy we braved the strenuous climb to the top of the cliffs to see spring wildflowers in bloom. We came down to Kentucky to enjoy Red River Gorge, and it was totally worth the little extra drive to stay at this fabulous site. We'll be back!

Rested and Inspired!
If you're used to primitive camping, this is like that... only better. The surroundings are magnificent and the touches of civilization (outhouse, yoga deck, shower), are all tucked away in special locations, at home in their surroundings. It's truly a magical place with butterflies and more lightening bugs than we've ever seen! Great location, close to Red River Gorge (about 40 minutes). And Bart is a wonderful host! You'll leave inspired!

Tranquility, seclusion, peaceful, friendly Hosts,
beautiful scenery, amazing fireflies, perfect outdoor kitchen, romantic we could go on but honestly you will want to stay at Bart's. Bart was extremely helpful, friendly and has done a lot of work on his property it shows . My husband took a hike past the outhouse to see a new cabin Bart has built WOW it is amazing. The layout of the property is great for exploring. There is a gravel road to walk along the river if you cannot do inclines. The outdoor kitchen is an added bonus along with lights. We had a hugh rain storm come through and that kitchen provided a nice place to hang out and watch the storm roll by us. The outdoor shower was invigorating and it had a lovely view of the mountains. We honestly did not mind the cool water it was very refreshing.

Perfect place to camp
This place is wonderful! The camp was exactly as described and very peaceful. My friend was biking across the USA and it was close to his route. Bart was very helpful and a great communicator!
