Thank you for considering Clayton Geneva memorial campground for your camping trip. Please read the entire description including our rules and regulations. Also be sure to view the site map. The gravel driveway to the sites is passable with any vehicle As long as the vehicle Does not have an aftermarket lowered profile or entirely overloaded with gear. We offer camping ranging from primitive tent sites, to an actual cabin. Hikers, kayakers, canoes, Horses and riders welcome, located a couple miles from Daniel Boone National Forrest, seemingly endless trails through some of the most beautiful country. Bring your canoe and kayaks. Located 16 miles from Cumberland Falls State Park. Located 11 miles from Sheltowee Trade Adventure Park. Located 11 miles from Kentucky Splash Water Park. 11 miles from The Mint Casino!! Clayton Geneva Camp Ground began as a retreat for our family since the 70's. My grandparents, Donald Clayton Russell & Jewel Geneva (Davis) Russell, purchased this little piece of heaven to get away from the hustle and bustle of Cincinnati life. Judy was born in a little cabin just down the road. Judy & Don along with many family members have made cherished memories here over the years. We want to share its beauty with you and your family. Please consider, Clayton Geneva is a primitive campground, gravel drives and left as natural as possible. This is not a sculpted campsite or a concrete campground. The primitive area is as such, gravel, grass, sand terrain accessible by a one lane gravel drive that leads over the hill and around the cliff to the riverbank. This drive is absolutely passable however is left bumpy to keep traffic at a safe speed as pedestrians also walk the drive. It is passable by any vehicle as long as the vehicle is not overloaded beyond its ability and/or has an extremely low profile. Any area that is not an actual campsite is left to nature, not manicured, trimmed or sculpted. As you’ll find all the sites are clear please don’t expect micromanaging of wild growth of our native plants in areas around the sites as we reserve those areas for the wildlife to enjoy. Please consider all the above mentioned details, primitive campsites are not for everyone and that’s ok.

Clayton Geneva memorial campground is located directly on the KAT Kentucky Adventure Tour, just off of the copperhead trail in about 30 minutes from Sterns and the big south fork railroad. Just too many great things to list. This is a primitive tent site that would allow a small travel trailer/pop-up camper/teardrop camper to be parked weather permitting, if the grounds are too wet to place a trailer at this site you will be accommodated somewhere else on the campground. Nothing over 10 foot. No generators are permitted at the primitive campsites, if a generator is needed you’ll need to reserve a spot at our Horsemens camp. Trading sites is not permitted, even in the event of inclement weather. These campsites are on the river, one must assume that there will be some moisture, damp conditions and wet grounds when booking a site on a riverbank. If you’d like to change your site upon arrival you are welcome to check availability and book another site for the same amount of days, the same calendar dates and you will be refunded for your original site. We are inviting you to enjoy a peaceful, primitive tent/vehicle camping experience at a lovely plot just above the sandy banks of the Cumberland River. Riverbank Overlook Site overlooks the riverbank and is not directly riverside. The river is in clear view only obstructed in staggering areas for privacy & and is approximately 100 ft away from the river bank. There are common areas directly on the riverbank for you to access the river. This site has 110 electric access, WiFi. Potable water available at the spigot near restroom. Offering a tree canopy covered, serene spot that allows for river swimming, fishing, enjoy a camp fire or just plain nothing but peace and quiet. Each site is equipt with a fire ring. The drive way to the primitive sites is a little bumpy lane that wraps around a mountain side that leads to the primitive sites. It is also one way. The drive to the site has an incline to the site. Due to the nature of the driveway it’s recommended to leave your vehicle on the topside of the property of your plan to be coming and going a lot. This is a primitive camp Hikers, Horses and riders welcome, located a couple miles from Daniel Boone National Forrest, seemingly endless trails through some of the most beautiful country. This lovely little spot sits at the end of the primitive campground area, is directly on the riverbank. It sits right next to the water access common (public) area. Its lovely tree canopy provides adequate shade and makes for a nice hammock spot. Treat yourself to an amazing getaway in this lovely little covered wagon venue, located directly along the banks of the Cumberland River. Enjoy a River view, take in the sounds of nature, birds, the flowing water. Wake up to an amazing sunrise. Accommodations would be tight for a third guest. Check in by 8 PM This cute wagon set up has a queen bed, table, bench seats, coffee pot, picnic table, fire ring, grill and a lovely deck to relax and watch the river flow. The driveway to this venue Although completely passable with most vehicles, as long as it’s not a lowered vehicle, is a gravel one lane/one driveway that wraps around the side of the hill leading you to the riverbank. There’s alternate parking on the top side of the property if you choose, but just know that the driveway to this primitive set up is a primitive path. Visit Cumberland falls, Mint Casino, Big South Fork railway, Daniel Boone National Forest, Corbin Arena and so much more… Please be sure to read/review listing thoroughly from start to finish, review all the details, review our cancellation policy and be sure that primitive Riverside camping is for you . You must cancel/reschedule seven days prior to your check-in to receive a refund. Beyond that no refund or rain check will be offered . Primitive Riverside camping is hit or miss in regards to weather and in the event of inclement weather you’re going to experience water, mud, wet, sand, elevated river levels, all of which to be expected while choosing to primitive camp Riverside and needs to be considered carefully.

Such a beautiful, quiet location right on the water. All of the sites are maintained well along with the amenities. There’s a porta potty near the campsites themselves and then a small bathroom/shower room a little up the drive on the main property. I know the site areas have a history of flooding easily since it’s right on the water, luckily I had amazing weather while there and I know I would have been accommodated on the upper land area if need be!

Riverbank Overlook with Electric ⚡️
Ambers spot was perfect. Peaceful, private, and by the water. It was the perfect stop off for two nights as I made my way through. Amber was kind, polite and more than attentive. So much that she even offered her KY hospitality and charm to solve any of my dilemmas. Great spot with great people and easily accessible. Plus I was able to purchase some local honey from her farm too. Highly recommend to all.

This is the perfect spot if you want to get away from it all. Its remote, serene, and we'll kept. Its not a big park, nor is it a resort, but it was lovely. There arent amenities, but there are farm animals, green grass, blue sky and quiet. Amber, the owner, is a truly kind human and she cares for her guests and her animals. She even provides a bucket to save scraps for her chickens! I absolutely loved being there and hope we can return again.

This place was easy to find; beautiful drive, beautiful land! Although I was up by the RV’s & restroom, I took a walk down by the river where the tent camping is. I was only there to sleep, basically. But the river sites are incredible! I’m SO coming back to camp down there, & taking a few days for it. Amber was awesome!

One of the most beautiful campgrounds I've been to. Plus it was close to other falls and kayak launches. Cleanest port o potty I have ever seen, and the shower stayed warm long enough for both my son and I to get decent showers. I do recommend a large bucket for water, we only brought a small one and it's about .5 mile walk up the drive to get potable water. Also bring tick spray, I had 5, my husband 2, and my youngest 3. There are some that help if sprayed beforehand on the site and clothes, I just didn't think of it, and we may have just walked into a hatch. Also, where we stayed the swimming is not good for kids, too stong of a current, but further down we noticed there are larger rocks and it gets shallower, so if you have kids I recommend a site downstream. Overall it's a gorgeous place to stay, Amber and the gentleman that helps are very kind. Its quiet and safe and our kids didn't want to leave, even though they could not access internet! Which was also very nice!

This was a great safe spot about 10 minutes off the highway on my way thru. Arrived at about 10pm and was back on the road by 8:30. The bathroom was clean and close by + Amber let me fill my water up before heading out (THANK YOU!) Would love to come back and stay at one of the riverside sites!

I recently enjoyed a wonderful camping trip at Dons Watch. The setting offered a stunning vantage point and a calm, scenic backdrop that made the stay special. Amber and her husband were incredibly helpful, lending a hand with gathering firewood and making sure I could check in smoothly after dark. Their warmth and support truly enhanced the experience.

My partner and I showed up as the sun was setting after finding this site on iOverlander, and Amber kindly showed us around and got us settled right away. We had a beautiful site to ourselves right on the river and enjoyed the peace and quiet under the stars. Amber supplied us with lots of firewood, definitely worth the add-on. We only wished we would’ve arrived earlier to see the farm animals! The next morning we felt so grateful to take hot showers in a clean bathroom. We will definitely come back again if we find ourselves in the area. Thank you Amber!

I loved Amber's land, it was beautiful and peaceful. She was very sweet and helpful. I would definitely go back with the the rv and kids. The restroom and shower was nice and kept clean as well. Also it's nice that people can bring there pets and they have a groomer on the grounds. They also have several extra things to purchase.

Favorite Stay So Far!

BOOK it. This has been my favorite stay on Hipcamp so far. Ray and Shannon were so unbelievably accommodating and friendly. I was the only person booked for the night, it was super windy and Ray offered any site for me to stay at to avoid the wind. They provided me firewood! Which is so AMAZING. They made sure i was all set with everything and seriously the bests hosts. I will stay with them again.

We camped for 13 days. I would recommend Mrs. Amber and her staff a hundred times over. Herself and her staff Ms. Abbey and Mr. Payten are amazing people. First our battery died and Mrs Amber had stepped away from the site So while she was away she contacted Ms. Abby at her other job ,to come and jump us . When Ms. Abby arrived it was astonishing to see a well round and grounded 18 yr old these days who would leave there job just to give someone a jump. Thanks again Ms Abby. The bathroom was warm showers were hot yes hot in the winter months. We stayed with Mrs. Amber 13 days beautiful sight even when it rained I got in 2 days of fishing the best time ever. If you don't go see Mrs Amber and her staff You would miss out on a lot canoeing, honey, you name it Mrs. Amber has including but not limited to amazing and friendly neighbors we even took long walks. Compassionate, polite, respectful. You get all the bells and whistles with this camp grounds They treat like a human being and not like $$$$ dollar signs. She has electric cabins and wagons, RV hookups We can't say enough about This site Other than. CAMP, RV OR GLAMP HERE YOU WON'T REGRET YOUR CHOICE OH YES SHE HAS FRESH MEAT,,EGGS AND THE fresh produce is down the street with Walmart 6 miles from you on your way to Walmart you bypass a huge water park. Mrs Ambers site has a lot to offer. If I could give her 100 STARS I WOULD. WE WILL SEE YOU SOON MRS. AMBER THANK YOU AGAIN FOR AMAZING SERVICES AND SIGHTS OH YEA 🐕 FRIENDLY

This was perfect. You can walk to the water and fish, the portapotty is close to all the camp sites and she gets them cleaned weekly. We drove our truck to the site and the person next to us had an SUV and we had zero trouble getting to site. Banks end looked like the best site since it has the whole end to itself and closest to the water. Sites are well separated and a good space for group camping! Lots of add ons offered by the host from eggs to fishing bait and she delivers your firewood. Close to Cumberland falls and was just an hour and a half drive from Knoxville for a weekend get away!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the campground. Everything was as described and expected. The host was awesome and very attentive. There was a Chili Cook-Off and Halloween party going on while we were there and it was so much fun. I would highly recommend this location to anyone. We will definitely be coming back many times in the future.

I spent a week on Amber's beautiful land. It is a very peaceful location and Amber was a wonderful host. The river itself is beautiful to look at but shallow and very silty so not great for kids wanting to swim or play in the water. I would absolutely come back.

The host was beyond amazing ~ and her place was nothing short of that. Sycamore Cove is a beautiful retreat on the Cumberland River, but still very easily accessible without 4-wheel drive long as you have a lick of sense. I highly recommend staying here, and I highly recommend the experiences that are offered, as well as those farm fresh eggs...she has a genuine love for her animals and takes such good care of them ~ I will definitely be back, and in the meantime, I will be singing her praises 🏕 5 out of 5 stars 🌟

Great views, no one else was camping (in tents) when we were there. Directions to get to property were clear. The path was grown up towards the end and some maintenance would be nice. Bathrooms were clean. Overral very happy with our stay!

The instructions for entry were a bit difficult to understand (the cornfield used as a major landmark had just been cut down) and the host, despite offering to escort me to the site, was not in town. I did, however, meet the neighbor, who came to let the dogs out and de-escelate a situation with another group. The family arrived at the campground around 7, seemingly road weary and agitated. They claimed the instructions they received were also vague and unclear. They specifically cited the host saying the road is passible by 2 wheel drive vehicles. The driver was unwilling to take his car down the rutted gravel road to the riverside sites. For fear of him taking his wife and children back out on the unlit and winding mountain roads, I offered to let them camp next to me. We ended up sharing the "Just Passing Through" site.

Sycamore Cove is a spectacular site; right on the river, private, peaceful, it’s a little a slice of paradise. Although primitive there are facilities close by, and they deliver your firewood right to your campsite. Highly recommend staying here !
