Clayton Geneva Camp Ground began as a retreat for our family since the 70's. My grandparents, Donald Clayton Russell & Jewel Geneva (Davis) Russell, purchased this little piece of heaven to get away from the hustle and bustle of Cincinnati life. Judy was born in a little cabin just down the road. Judy & Don along with many family members have made cherished memories here over the years. We want to share its beauty with you and your family.
Please consider, Clayton Geneva is a primitive campground, gravel drives and left as natural as possible. This is not a sculpted campsite or a concrete campground. The primitive area is as such, gravel, grass, sand terrain accessible by a one lane gravel drive that leads over the hill and around the cliff to the riverbank. This drive is absolutely passable however is left bumpy to keep traffic at a safe speed as pedestrians also walk the drive. It is passable by any vehicle as long as the vehicle is not overloaded beyond its ability and/or has an extremely low profile.
Any area that is not an actual campsite is left to nature, not manicured, trimmed or sculpted. As you’ll find all the sites are clear please don’t expect micromanaging of wild growth of our native plants in areas around the sites as we reserve those areas for the wildlife to enjoy.
Please consider all the above mentioned details, primitive campsites are not for everyone and that’s ok.

We have almost 200 acres of beautiful country surrounded by the Daniel Boone National Forest in Rockcastle County. With a mile of river to swim, kayak, and fish and enchanted forest trails to hike, climb, or play, we have all of the best Kentucky has to offer! We have more established sites with fire rings, or you can find a place off the beaten path for more privacy, if you choose. The riverside is perfect for hammock camping, too.
We love music and often host bands on the weekends. We rent kayaks and run shuttle on site, as well.
While there are almost 200 acres to escape into, on any fine night, the stage sits wit a drum kit and the will to make music within the Daniel Boone National Forest. Come play, come get away....we have it ALL!

This ecological art project is currently recruiting visitors to camp in beautiful fields, on woodland rim sites, or at delicate campsites located along a system of woodland trails. As of 2026, camping here provides a glimpse into the 5th year of succession, which is characterized by spacious views of a gently rolling young prairie that is flanked by the rocky and steep slopes of a mature forest.
Pet friendly and most likely a good fit for self-sufficient types that like campsites with generous spacing, but still want to get out to the park quickly (~7 miles to the Visitors Center) or travel into Cave City (3 mi) for coffee/ice-cream/pizza/barbecue/bar/food/etc. Expand from the campsite into a sketch-work of trails, as if camping near the headquarters of a satellite nature reserve.
All sites except Spicebush have a filtered water output. Spicebush campers will have water access next to parking.
Camping funds allow us to plant trees (~530 seedlings as of March 2026), establish prairie grasses and flowers, restore wetlands, create trails, and remove invasive species.
A nice way to experience Mammoth Cave NP is to break the trip into 3 layers, covering the underworld (cave tours), upper world (hiking), and the water that connects the two (Green River). Mammoth Cave is unique in the way that a study of the underworld will repeatedly draw the mind into a creative space where we imagine what is beneath the surface and how these worlds are linked, while above ground hiking on land or kayaking on the ecologically rich and biodiverse Green River. Kayaking the Green is elemental; like unplugging from one world, pure nature immersion. We offer kayaks (see extras), that leave from camp, tailored to your schedule.

1. Dried and split firewood bundles, usually a mix of oak with a suggested donation of $6/bundle, delivered to the campsite.
2. Kayaks on a suggested donation basis ($45) providing a flexible option for visitors to float the Green River through the NP.
3. Pending availability, we are happy to pitch a tent (REI 4 person Half Dome plus 2 sleeping pads) for those who want to camp but are not traveling with gear.

Our remote 375 acres part farm and part natural woodland nestled up to Daniel Boone Forest is ideal for hikers and nature lovers. There are several hiking trails onsite and plenty of woods to explore. ATVs or side by sides are welcome to be used on the main gravel roads and some designated areas of our property. There is plenty of wildlife but NO hunting is allowed. Some of our designated tent sites do have firepits and/or picnic tables. Our trek in sites do not have those options. Pets are welcome for $10 per pet/per booking and they do need to be leashed/under control at all times. This is an extra so please be sure to add that if you plan to bring your pet. Please pick up after them.
We are a short driving distance from West Liberty, Cave Run Lake, Grayson Lake, Carter Caves, Morehead, Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge.
We are approximately 20 minutes from the nearest store so you'll want to come prepared. We are located in West Liberty (Morgan County). There are 2 centrally located bathhouses with toilet, shower and sink and a hose for potable water. We have firewood for sale for $20 per stay and is an extra option when booking(use what you need during your stay and it is centrally located near bath houses) you can bring your own and you are welcome to gather from the surrounding area but please do not cut down any living trees/limbs.
There is a centrally located community building with a Wifi hotspot, streaming TV, Keurig, microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster/air fryer, swing set, foosball table and darts.

When you want to get away to nature, what do you envision? We're a family that loves to camp; and while we love a stop at a KOA or community campground, we sometimes crave quiet time in nature without the noise and distraction of other campers.
That's what makes The LAAAAND so special. The property is comprised of 50 pristine acres, with a mix of fields and woods, that bump up against another 250 acres owned by our family friends. The southern perimeter of the property is all cliff line, so you feel truly remote. The possibilities of sound pollution are limited to a far-off dog barking, horses being ridden down a nearby trail, or the possible hum of a distant lumber yard. Other than that, you'll mostly hear the wind rustling trees, deer and critters making their way through the woods, and possibly a waterfall at certain times of the year. Oh, and you will absolutely hear whipoorwhills, most likely at a time you'd rather not (we've decided they're charming).
Over the nearly 2 decades we've owned this property we have spent countless weekends enjoying the simplest of pleasures; watching butterflies dance in the tree canopy, having dance parties at sunset on the deck, forging new trails and hiking into the unkown, sitting in the truck bed late at night gazing at a star-covered sky counting shooting stars.

Discover a rare campsite available between two cliffs that the Native Americans originally called home. It remains just as they found it. A few miles to country style restaurants, Sulphur Well historic park, 6 miles to small town, aprox 20 miles to closest cities.

We searched all over for a piece of property in the mountains of Kentucky! We fell in love with our 50 acres nestled in between 3 mountains. With waterfalls a cave, 2 stream's, beautiful star filled nights, tucked away in the middle of a 50 wooded acre utopia with approximately 7 miles of trails! If you like Misty Mountains, bubbling creeks and chilling under the stars we are for you!
We are tucked away from the modern world but, close enough to be there in 30 minutes! Our secluded property is 5 minutes from the Fitchburg Furnace Historical site in the Daniel Boone National Forest. 30 minutes to Red River Gorge Natural Bridge and many other great historical sites and fine eateries.
We have 2 creek side camp sites and 1 large spot suitable for a 25 foot camper with plenty of room to spread out. We are located inside of the Daniel Boone National Forest on our private land. We are 5 minutes from the Fitchburge Furnace Historical site, and 30 minutes from Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge
We live onsite but you have privacy while here. you can rent 1 site if you don't mind people being on the other 2 sites or you can rent all 3 for a more secluded feel.

Absolutely incredible! It rained nearly the whole time we were there and we still had a great time. The waterfalls and overlook on the property are also such a great perk! There was plenty of firewood and we saw lots of wildlife. We were also fairly close to all of the hikes that we did in Red River Gorge! Carli was super responsive and we overall had an amazing experience! We will absolutely be coming back!

Gypsy is very kind and the accommodations are great! I appreciate that there was a full bathroom and a place to charge my phone. I will say…keep an eye out for ticks, I slept in the hideaway spot and found more than 10 on me at one point. Use the showers to do a tick check every day.

I honestly am hesitant to leave a review because I don't want the world to know about this slice of paradise. The land was so beautiful, you can tell Kevin and his family have poured their hearts into making this someplace special. Not only did I feel safe but I felt like if I needed anything, Kevin would have been happy to help. Whether you want to enjoy a secluded trip in the forest, or hang with Kevin and his puppies, you'll find it all here.
Apart from the site, one of my highlights on this ENTIRE trip was just sitting on the porch chatting with Kevin about the birds, plants, and life. It was genuinely a reinvigorating and healing experience. Thank you Kevin for sharing your world!
