Shasta Valley

We just got back from our stay here and we just absolutely adored this spot and we’re sad to go home after such a great trip. For reference we originally booked the small spot by the pond. This spot goes straight up a hill from the driveway and we got stuck a few times trying to get up there. The spot was ok. It was on a big incline which made it hard to sleep and had a lot of bugs. After our second night we asked to move to the larger spot by the communal space and the host was amazing and let us move. Now for all the positive things. The communal kitchen area was SO cute and helpful to have access to a proper table for meals. The bathroom was so cute and we were excited to see that there was toilet paper and hand sanitizer. We really loved the attention to detail with the communal spaces and the trail, you could tell that they really put their hearts into this space. The spot at the top by the communal kitchen has a great big open space which was perfect for our dog to run and have the best time. We loved star gazing out in the open as there weren’t many trees blocking the sky. And there was plenty of shade provided by the big tree during the sunniest part of the day. We can’t wait to book our next stay here and share it with our friends and family!

What a gem!

We loved our camping experience here. We were the only campers, so had the communal “kitchen/dining platform”, fire pit with lounging chairs and outhouse to ourselves. What a bonus to have the covered outdoor platform to sit and eat and relax with a book. Nice solar powered lights around the structures. We saw some twilight fireflies, had clear views of the sky and heard lovely evening bird and bug sounds. Wasn’t too far to go to the Red River Gorge scenic drive.

Camping in the rain

Excellent set of campsites. My friends and I stayed during a long weekend of near continuous rain, so we found the cooking pavilion to be an absolute godsend. Restroom facilities are also above par for most primitive campsites. Host was communicative and quickly responded to inquiries. We would definitely camp here again!

We had and great time camping here. We ended up having the whole campsite to ourselves , which made it that much more enjoyable. The outdoor kitchen was super convenient and the outhouse was clean. They even had incense for you to burn while you're in there. 30 min from red river gorge with a convenient store just 5 min away. The roads were very fun to ride on (we had motorcycles) with lots of twists and turns. If we ever come back to this area I'd definitely book with Samantha again!

Great spot near the Gorge

Great big flat area with really neat covered eating area and very clean outhouse. Very convient to Gorge related activities. There is road noise but you cannot see the road at all. Nice hike on property. Would visit again.

The site by the big oak tree and very large and flat. Definitely the site to book when you come here. The short hike along the waterfall is nice. The outhouse and outdoor kitchen are great. Will be back for sure.

Shasta valley was amazing! Such a great little secluded spot, close to some wonderful hiking destinations. The little trail on site is a nice 10 minute walk to the top of the waterfall. The composting toilet is a great accommodation. Samantha's communication was great and it was a wonderful experience!

We loved bringing our teardrop trailer to this beautiful private property! We are new to the area and this was the perfect spot for our family. We felt so safe and comfortable and had everything we needed! Our camper did wonderful by the pond! We did hiking every day at red River Gorge and it was so nice coming back to this nice private spot (spot by the pond). We did this trip in March so even though the nights were chilly we did just fine and everyone was sad to leave! Thank you guys for such a great experience and for sharing your property with us!

This campsite was amazing, and Sam is a wonderful host. Even in the early spring this place is an oasis. Our campsite was tucked in the trees, and the outdoor kitchen was the cutest. It was perfect campsite for watching the eclipse and star gazing. 1000% would recommend stoping here if you can.

Camping with all types animals!

Great open space, good trails, and easy directions. Close to the road but fine to have animals off leash. With the light in the outhouse worked but very clean. We had 2 dogs and 3 cats, yes camping cats, that had a great time! Small group of coyotes at night and some cows to fall asleep to.

We enjoyed our stay at Shasta Valley! The campsite was well taken care of and had one of the best outhouses I've been in. The trail was a wonderful bonus for the trip. The location is was 10-25 minutes from just about everything we wanted to do. It was a little over 20 minutes to Natural Bridge. The only downside was the road noise. We tent camped so we were a little more sensitive to it. It's not a deal breaker, but it was enough to wake us. We would definitely stay again!

Very nice campsite. Close enough to RRG. Enjoyed the farm animal sounds in the distance and the beautiful view of the stars at night. Cars from the road were louder than anticipated, but nothing terrible. Do not recommend driving a sedan to the campsite as your car may bottom out a few times like mine did.

Loved the campsite! It was a bit hard to find- we did a couple back and forths before we saw the rainbow campsite banner, but no biggie. Apple Maps took us to what I assumed is the air bnb that they also own. Aside from that Everything was clean, quiet, and beautiful!

Gorgeous, secluded, and so clean!

A wonderful secluded spot, close enough to great hikes and adventure in the RRG area. It was awesome to let our pups explore and be behind a locked gate for privacy. In the summer, definitely bring bug spray! The road is close by, but the sound of the bugs at night drown out any cars (we didn’t really think about bug noise being so so loud!). Usually cooler weather and northern campers. The outhouse is such a luxury while tent camping and is kept impeccably clean, definitely makes paying for a campsite 10000% worth it!

This place is tucked away behind a locked gate. The listing stated flat ground however site 2 is a hill. We use a RTT on our jeep so this would be difficult to get level. Our host was kind enough to allow us to set up on top of the hill near a tree for more level ground due to no other campers present. We did have a wasp issue with the out house and our host was notified. Since we arrived a little late in the evening we didn't explore the waterfall or trails. Samantha was responsive to our concerns and stayed in contact with us.

The campsite was everything that it was described to be. With access to the property being behind a locked gate there was a higher sense of safety and seclusion, although we were still able hear the highway noise. The foliage was overgrown and restrictive along the access road and the grass was knee deep at the camp site but I guess that’s what you get camping early in the season. Overall, a good experience. For the price, there are many other dispersed camping options in the area with comparable amenities, we settled here because of it’s proximity to our destination.

A Little Corner of Heaven

Amazing. How to find the place could be better. Google link they sent finally got me there. Had to unlock and go thru a gate which I loved. It was dark and no one else was there so I found a spot and made myself at home for the night When the sun came up I explored. What an amazing little corner of heaven. Never left the property for 3 days, no need to. NOTE: The outhouse is Amazing!

My favorite getaway

It’s very private, but also a beautiful spot. There’s a little traffic noise, but it’s not too bad. It’s a perfect site to Boondock for a couple of days or longer even. There is a charming new outhouse on the property, which will save you having to fix up a toilet station. The leaves this time of year are magnificent. You’re also not a far drive from Fredericksburg, so anything you need is available there.

We stayed at Shady Grove. It was very quiet as there was no one else there. You did hear some noise from street, but nothing too terrible. Our site had two chairs, a fire pit, and plenty of space for our tent. The location was nice and close to plenty of trail heads in RRG. Didn’t make it past the barn to see the waterfalls, but the trail to it was nice. Would stay here again.

Great private hilltop spot on north side of RRG. We camped at largest of the 3 sites and it was plenty large enough for 2 groups and a few tents. There are thoughtful touches everywhere- a super easy place to unwind and a great base camp for exploring the area.

Unfortunately the tree by the pond was full of walnuts that kept falling on us, and there was an overabundance of wolf spiders that ended up making it so we left earlier than intended. It was a beautiful spot with lots of potential, but I wish we had been warned about the spiders and the walnuts, or that the site had been cleared a bit more.

We spent a nice evening here alone as the other two sites were empty. There was a nice fire ring, and the outhouse was a definite plus, clean and well stocked. I wanted a dark site for telescope viewing, and this worked pretty well; the only lights are some solar string lights that outline the outhouse and a small tree, and Samantha said they could be turned off if necessary (it wasn’t). There are no horizon views, but I could sight Polaris and the Milky Way was visible. The site felt secure and peaceful; the only down side was road noise from the highway at the bottom of the hill, but that was not a problem later in the evening. Samantha was a great host, thank you for sharing your place!
