Had some bad storms but was kept updated by amber regularly. Even offered to move me to a different site. The site itself was nice. Right by the river. Perfect little getaway to do some fishing. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

Weekend Trip to Away at Green Hill

What a wonderful experience, Teri and Mike have a beautiful area tucked away in Northern KY. Plenty of space between campsites! We stayed at Henry’s Holler. It’s a 4x4 only site. There is a steep hill that you may need 4wd to get up. That being said there are a few more spots to reserve that this is not a requirement. It is so peaceful here. You would never know you were so close to busy areas. Rabbit hash is right down the road as well as Lawerenceburg Indiana. Just a short distance is also Big Bone Lick State Park. If you just want to get away this is the spot for you. The log cabin on site is so cool. Plenty of walking can be done as you meander along some easy trails. The “outhouse” on site is cute. It is the only bathroom on property. Well stocked and not your typical “outhouse”. It’s adorable. You will have to see it to appreciate it. This is a great alternative to camping at a campground. Note: there is no electric or water. Also pack out what you pack in. You will be greeted with a “welcome” kit that includes a citronella candle, some paper and fire starting accessories. Firewood is available for purchase by the barn. I will definitely be back! Teri communicates very well to make sure all is going well. Don’t be afraid to explore this great slice of heaven.

This is a truly magical camping location. It’s a very safe and secure area with multiple options of different glamp sites as well as traditional camping. The experience surpassed any ideas of expectations I could’ve even imagined. I highly recommend Barren River Magic.

Campground was clean bathroom had flush toilet and sink which was nice. Cabin was a great option I stayed there the last three nights of my trip when I had camper issues. Will stay here again.

Amber was a kind and helpful host during our trip. She greeted us when we arrived and answered our questions. If we needed her, she was just a quick message away. We didn't have any cell service as expected, but the wifi was a nice touch. Our trip was unfortunately super rainy- the sites get extremely muddy with rain, which was expected due to the listing info. Be sure to bring extra tarps and appropriate shoes if the weather shows rain! The hill to get down to the sites by the river is just fine without weather, but it can be a challenge with rainy conditions. That being said, my SUV (Subaru) made it up the hill with no issues. Amazing stay! Bridgett was a wonderful host! We especially enjoyed the wrap-around covered deck and outdoor sectional seating. The kids really had a blast fishing from the dock, and loved the kayaks. This place was truly magical right out of a fairytale with beautiful rolling hills, cute wildlife, beautiful artistic buildings, the sounds of birds and a gentle rolling river. It was April so I thought it would be too cold to play in the river but it was not. The river was refreshing and the water was crystal clear. There were beautiful butterflies down by the river. The host 2D was amazing as well. He's such a sweet person. It wasn't busy and there were some storms coming in so he upgraded us to one of the lean to cabins. He was the type of man who would probably be everyone's "pappy". I loved seeing and hearing about some of the projects they were working on to grow Barren River Magic. It really is a place to get away from everything. All we heard was birds and the host driving his tractor around occasionally. I went here with my kids and our little dog because I'm going to one of the summer festivals there so I wanted to get to know the area while it was nice and slow so it won't be so overwhelming on the big event. My children are homeschoolers so this was a great little science and artistic field trip for a couple days for them. I highly recommend this place to go and "get away from it all" for a few days. The off grid setup is so interesting. There is art everywhere and the use of recycled materials that I would have never thought of. Some things I recommend is bring toilet paper, bring a way to wash up, and leave the kids tablets at home. It's so nice here!

Welcome to Heaven on Earth for those that love the Great Outdoors!! If you cant find something to do here then you obviously don't want to do anything and thats ok we have ya covered there too!! We will be hosting some special events in 202at we would like to make you aware of first thing so you can plan your visit accordingl Tanking, kayaking, camping and the trails will remain OPEN year round!! Now that all of that is out of the way... Let me introduce you to our little hidden gem in scenic Monroe county Kentucky. The Slab by the Barren campground is an outdoor recreation area like no other!!! We are the perfect place for all of your family fun in the sun!!! We have 75 very large shaded primitive sites spread out all over our 500 acre farm with nice gravel roads to most of the campsites. We do NOT have any hookups but can accommodate RV's on most sites and you are welcome to run a quiet generator. ( We will be setting up at least 3 sites this winter with hook ups for Rvs. Please follow us here or on facebook for updates on those sites) Sites 1 - 40 are located on the banks of Salt Lick creek and Barren River with direct water access. The gravel bars are open for all campers to enjoy. Camping areas A, B, and C are spread out across different sections of the farm. Even though they aren't directly on the water you are still welcome to go down to the creek at any site and swim and fish and just enjoy the water. If you need any help in choosing the perfect site for your stay feel free to message me or call the office at (812)653-0102 and I will help in anyway I can. On to our amenities!!!! THE BARN!! Is our converted milk barn where Kent and his mother Linda used to milk cows. The tank room is now our office for check in and camp store that we try to keep stocked with the best ice cream and anything else you might have forgotten at home. The old milk parlor where they actually milked the cows has been converted into 4 separate shower houses that are open 24/7. The Holding barn is currently undergoing some major changes this winter. It was such a large room that we have decided, in order to maximize its space, to split the barn in half and make 2 separate areas out of it. The front half by the showers will remain the kids and family play area, it will still have the pool and air hockey tables, family friendly games, tables and chairs. We will be adding more games to this area this winter and adding some exciting outdoor activities for the whole family for this summer. The other half of the barn is currently becoming the Jenkins Joint at The Slab. The Joint will be our full service bar where those 21 and older can enjoy a cold beverage, a game of pool, live music, karaoke, or just hang out. We will have a food truck set up every Friday thru Sunday until we get our kitchen completed and can serve our own food. The food truck and the kitchen will be available for anyone that would like to order food, especially those that check in late and don't feel like cooking their first night. KAYAKING!!! Take a relaxing paddle down the river in your kayak or ours. We have multiple trips 1, 2, 3, 6, and 10 miles and offer a shuttle service, and kayak rentals for those that don't have their own. LAZY RIVER TUBING!!!! Go with the flow in your tube or ours and float your cares away on our 2 mile float down Barren River. Float as many times as you would like per day, stop at the rope swing, or hang out at your campsite and then take off again. TANKING!!! Yes you read that right we now offer Tanking!! I'm sure you have never heard of it but let me tell you, as one group of campers exclaimed... "It is the most genius, redneck, fun thing we have ever done". Depending on the size of your group we will either put you in a 6ft or 8ft round metal cattle water tank and float you 2 miles down the river in it!! We have designed them for the maximum amount of fun and relaxation you can have on the water without getting wet... unless you want to. We have installed benches in them so all you need to bring is your cooler and friends and come spend the day on the river with new unique experience. FISHING!! Multiple fishing holes where you can catch stripe, small mouth, rock bass, Kentucky bass, channel cats, flat heads, and walleye on a regular basis. HIKING We have trails all over the farm from the scenic views on top of the bluffs to the quiet spring fed slate rock holler there is a trail for everyone to enjoy while you explore the farm. WATER SLIDE!!!! On the upper side of the Slab bridge is a 75 ft long water slide into one of our many swimming holes. It is steep and fast and you are sure to make a splash!!! SLIP N SLAB 600!!!! New at the end of 2023... is my Greatest Creation!! The Slip N Slab 600. What is it you might ask.... well.... It is the LONGEST Slip N Slide in ALL of Kentucky!! Come take a ride down our 600 Ft long Slip N Slide!! It starts up at the top of the hill by the office and you slide down the natural hollar and end in the pond just below the amphitheater. It really is Fun for the WHOLE Family!! We have had people as young a 2 and as old as 73 slide down it and each and every one of them came back up to the top with a smile on their face and was ready to do it again!! NOW ON TO THE RULES!!!! NO OUTSIDE FIRE WOOD!!! We sell large bundles for $10 at the camp store. We DO NOT allow ANY outside fire wood to be brought onto the farm!! DO NOT CUT DOWN ANY TREES ON THE FARM NO MATTER HOW SMALL!!! CAMPSITES WILL BE CHECKED AFTER YOUR STAY. IF WE FIND ANY TREES CUT DOWN ON YOUR SITE YOU WILL BE HELD RESPONSIBLE AND WILL BE CHARGED 7 TIMES THE MATURE VALUE OF THE DAMAGED TREE. BOOKING A CAMPSITE AT THE SLAB BY THE BARREN THRU THIS SITE MEANS THAT YOU AGREE TO THESE TERMS. We hate to have to do this but we have had trees chopped down for no reason. There is firewood available at the camp store and you are welcome to burn anything laying on the ground, trim low hanging branches, or pull stuff out of our brush piles. just don't cut down any trees. NO GLASS BOTTLES ARE ALLOWED ON THE FARM!! If we see them we will confiscate and dispose of them!! We are a WATER park and people run around barefoot. The last thing we need is broken glass all over the farm and people cutting their feet. So leave the GLASS AT HOME!! DIRT BIKES AND ATVS ARE NOW ALLOWED ON THE FARM!! Rider be respectful of our campers and ONLY ride on the designated trails!! There are idle only areas around Pickett Bottom cabin and ALL Campsites. If you are caught riding with throttle down the gravel roads in the campground or thru campsites you will be given ONE WARNING!! THE SECOND TIME it happens YOUR VEHICLE WILL BE IMPOUNDED for the remainder of your stay and you will receive A LIFETIME RIDING BAN FROM OUR CAMPGROUND. Be respectful and courteous and we will all have a great time!! We are trying to be inclusive to new activities while still staying the quiet peaceful slice of heaven that everyone has come to love. Please bear with us while we grow and try to work with everyone to make the Slab a place that everyone can enjoy. Please consider, Clayton Geneva is a primitive campground, gravel drives and left as natural as possible. This is not a sculpted campsite or a concrete campground. The primitive area is as such, gravel, grass, sand terrain accessible by a one lane gravel drive that leads over the hill and around the cliff to the riverbank. This drive is absolutely passable however is left bumpy to keep traffic at a safe speed as pedestrians also walk the drive. It is passable by any vehicle as long as the vehicle is not overloaded beyond its ability and/or has an extremely low profile. Any area that is not an actual campsite is left to nature, not manicured, trimmed or sculpted. As you’ll find all the sites are clear please don’t expect micromanaging of wild growth of our native plants in areas around the sites as we reserve those areas for the wildlife to enjoy. Please consider all the above mentioned details, primitive campsites are not for everyone and that’s ok.

Our remote 375 acres part farm and part natural woodland nestled up to Daniel Boone Forest is ideal for hikers and nature lovers. There are several hiking trails onsite and plenty of woods to explore. ATVs or side by sides are welcome to be used on the main gravel roads and some designated areas of our property. There is plenty of wildlife around but no hunting is allowed. Our designated tent sites do have firepits and picnic tables. Our trek in sites do not have those options. Pets are welcome for $10 per pet/per booking and they do need to be leashed/under control at all times. This is an extra so please be sure to add that if you plan to bring your pet. Please pick up after them. We are a short driving distance from West Liberty, Cave Run Lake, Grayson Lake, Carter Caves, Morehead, Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge. We are approximately 20 minutes from the nearest store so you'll want to come prepared. We are located in West Liberty (Morgan County). There is a centrally located bathhouse with toilet, shower and sink and a hose for potable water. We have firewood for sale for $15 per bundle and is an extra option when booking(use what you need during your stay and it is located at the tent sites), you can bring your own and you are welcome to gather from the surrounding area but please do not cut down any living trees/limbs.

Our end-of-the road, ridgetop property means privacy. Our isolated campsites are surrounded by woods full of turkey, deer, owls, and woodpeckers. Onsite there are wide, easy strolling paths, a growing number of single-track hiking trails, open fields, and forest. And if not booked, a historic log home to explore and do some porch sitting. A great place for solo campers, friends, and families, whether newbies or experienced. Drive-in sites make unloading/loading easy peasey. HomeGrown HideAways is a farm, lodging, and event facility nestled in a hundred-acre holler in the Appalachian foothills near Berea, Ky. Our lodging features treehouses, yurts, a bunkhouse, retro camper, water/electric hook-ups, and campsites. We also host weddings, retreats, and other events so advance reservations are required. For insurance purposes and the safety of our own livestock and pets, we do not allow guests to bring their pets/ESAs onto the property. Prepare to UNPLUG as we do not have cell service or wifi (there IS a landline for guests to make phone calls located in the Community Farmhouse). All guests from tent to treehouse have access to our solar-powered Community Farmhouse featuring a fully-stocked chef-inspired kitchen, restrooms, coin-op laundry, and upstairs multi-purpose room with a library and board games. There is also an outdoor kitchen area with additional cooking space including a grill, microwave, and sink (sink is closed in the winter so the pipes don’t freeze). Next to the Farmhouse is a massive pavilion with picnic tables for al fresco dining and firewood bundles to purchase. BRING CASH! Our seasonal bath house is generally open from April or May to October or November based on the prevailing temps. There are 4 flush toilets, 2 sinks, and 2 hot showers. The floors are concrete so we recommend shower shoes and you'll want to bring your own towels and shampoo/soap. The farm has a small playground, yard games, creeks, and a steep and rugged hiking trail that loops the mountain. We're also just 8 miles from the hiking trails at the Berea College Pinnacles, 8 miles to Owsley Fork Reservoir, 20 minutes to Anglin Falls, 12 miles to Berea, 35 minutes to Richmond, Ky, and a scenic hour to Red River Gorge. For other activities, restaurants, shopping, music, and more, we're happy to share our favorites, but highly recommend checking out the Berea Tourism website.

You may spend most of your time on the large porch which is attached to the camper. It has a dining and coffee table with chairs. Most of the time, the camper is decorated with seasonal plants. Close to where the camper is located, you can find a picnic area and pavilion with a propane grill, fire ring and plenty of firewood. The swimming pool is open on sunny days from Memorial weekend until Labor Day. Fisherman can find a fish cleaning station and beautiful pond with a lot of fish and turtles. Camper is not even 3/4 mile from the lake. Restaurants, a gas station, Dollar general, Old Country store with delicious ice cream, coffee, homemade jars of jams and more are within one mile driving distance. The Land Between the Lakes offers an Elk and Bison Prairie, many hiking and biking trails, fishing, boat ramps, Turkey Bay off road vehicle trails and more. Enjoy the outdoors, relax and recharge. Take a break from technology, we currently don't offer TV or Wi-Fi. Games are available per request, no additional charge.
