Clayton Geneva Camp Ground began as a retreat for our family since the 70's. My grandparents, Donald Clayton Russell & Jewel Geneva (Davis) Russell, purchased this little piece of heaven to get away from the hustle and bustle of Cincinnati life. Judy was born in a little cabin just down the road. Judy & Don along with many family members have made cherished memories here over the years. We want to share its beauty with you and your family.
Please consider, Clayton Geneva is a primitive campground, gravel drives and left as natural as possible. This is not a sculpted campsite or a concrete campground. The primitive area is as such, gravel, grass, sand terrain accessible by a one lane gravel drive that leads over the hill and around the cliff to the riverbank. This drive is absolutely passable however is left bumpy to keep traffic at a safe speed as pedestrians also walk the drive. It is passable by any vehicle as long as the vehicle is not overloaded beyond its ability and/or has an extremely low profile.
Any area that is not an actual campsite is left to nature, not manicured, trimmed or sculpted. As you’ll find all the sites are clear please don’t expect micromanaging of wild growth of our native plants in areas around the sites as we reserve those areas for the wildlife to enjoy.
Please consider all the above mentioned details, primitive campsites are not for everyone and that’s ok.

Even though there is complete peaceful seclusion it does get a little noisy when the bullfrogs start their evening ritual. There is a dock and pier perfect for fishing or swimming. Firepit, grill with gas provided, two boats, lots of seating on the wrap around porch, two bedrooms; one with a queen bed and the other with two twin beds and just lots of natural beauty and peace! Our remote 375 acres part farm and part natural woodland nestled up to Daniel Boone Forest is ideal for hikers and nature lovers. There are several hiking trails onsite and plenty of woods to explore. ATVs or side by sides are welcome to be used on the main gravel roads and some designated areas of our property. There is plenty of wildlife but NO hunting is allowed. Some of our designated tent sites do have firepits and/or picnic tables. Our trek in sites do not have those options. Pets are welcome for $10 per pet/per booking and they do need to be leashed/under control at all times. This is an extra so please be sure to add that if you plan to bring your pet. Please pick up after them.
We are a short driving distance from West Liberty, Cave Run Lake, Grayson Lake, Carter Caves, Morehead, Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge.
We are approximately 20 minutes from the nearest store so you'll want to come prepared. We are located in West Liberty (Morgan County). There are 2 centrally located bathhouses with toilet, shower and sink and a hose for potable water. We have firewood for sale for $20 per stay and is an extra option when booking(use what you need during your stay and it is centrally located near bath houses) you can bring your own and you are welcome to gather from the surrounding area but please do not cut down any living trees/limbs.

This is a camping cabin, in the middle of the Daniel Boone National Forest. If you are into primitive camping and living, then this is the right place for you! Many types of wildlife and critters may be encountered during your camping adventure. Deer, turkey, squirrel, snakes of different types, and lots of wood bugs inhabit the woods. We are about 85 acres, surrounded by hundreds of acres of national Forest, located about 2 minutes from the Sheltowee Trail, and approximately 30 minutes away from Cave Run Lake, and 30 minutes from Carter Caves State Park.
The cabin is off grid, but has a generator for heat and Air conditioning. The outside toilet is close to the cabin and has a "Wash up" area. There is also an outdoor shower on the property just a short walk away, down behind the host's garage, that features hot water.
A great place to relax and detach from the stress of society for a few days, or hike, hunt, or head over to Cave Run Lake for some fishing.

30 years ago this was a pay lake it has been shut down for years. I got it a few years ago for a family getaway. So there is some really nice fish in the lakes. The Trailboss cabin is thoughtfully curated and feels homie and relaxing! The kitchen was wonderfully stocked with anything you need to cook in the cabin. It is conveniently located between a lot of awesome spots. We are really excited for the next chance we have to come back! Kristin and Erik are great hosts.

I loved the place and the land! It was very well kept and the pond was very healthy. We loved swimming in the pond and watching all the fish swim around from the porch. The house was the perfect distance away from everything to give you the privacy you’d want. Hiking on the property was very nice but I would not recommend trying to swim in the river as it seems dangerous. The house was quaint and cozy I would give cleanliness a 4/5 as we found a few things needed cleaning but overall enjoyed our stay and can see ourselves here again in the future. Our dogs had a great time and Bridgett was very understanding that they were reactive and needed space from other dogs. 10/10 would recommend

3 nights at Backwoods Hideaway
If you are looking for a place to disconnect from this super fast paced world and be active; look no further. Perfect long weekend getaway, super clean, lots of shade and a good cut out to view the stars. Plenty of local books to read or a huge hill to climb for a workout. Aaron was very friendly and inviting!

Awesome place to stay! My family and two dogs stayed in a cabin for the night and it was great! Very clean simple cabin with fans and lights. The bathrooms were super nice and very clean. Very quiet property and friendly host. Highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to Waits Creek Cabins and Tent Site
The area is very gorgeous. The cabin was amazing. The water was very clean. It wasn’t like nasty water and honestly, the people were so friendly didn’t get to see them at all, but that were very nice and understanding would recommend. Had a great weekend.
