Our campground is perfect for those that love kayaking, swimming, floating, and fishing. We are in the middle of nowhere so you are away from civilization and you won't see any lights at night other than your campfire, the moon and stars and the amazing night sky. We offer lazy river tubing, kayak rentals and also a shuttle service. The lazy river is 2 miles and usually takes 2.5 ro 3 hours or longer depending on how many times you stop.. We have multiple kayaking trip options ranging in length from 1 to 10 miles or more. There is great fishing in the creek and river and plenty of deep holes for swimming. Come enjoy the day relaxing on the water with friends and family in a tube or kayak while floating down Barren river. During your stay you are welcome to come up and hang out and mingle with the other campers, sing some karaoke, play some corn hole or cards, or whatever else yall wanna do. There is a playground area for the kids and new this year is putt putt pool... its fun for all ages!!

Site 38 - The Slab Campground

Slab by the Barren/November Camping

We loved camping on Carrie’s land at the Slab by the Barren! She let us know upon arrival that we had unknowingly reserved a spot in an area typically used by deer hunters at this time of year, and asked if we would like to camp at a different site. (Yes please) She took us to some different campsites on the property which we were very grateful for and we picked a site there instead. The site was fantastic, all of the ones we saw to choose from were at the top of the bank near/but up away from the water which was perfect for us, and the scenery is absolutely lovely. We bought some firewood they provide there, and were brought a fire ring to keep it away from the leaves on the ground and better/more easily contained. There are showers, pool tables, and more at the “milk barn” where you stop to check in. (Which is awesome.) We definitely loved Carrie, and stood around talking to her for just a little while, she’s very down to earth and helpful. All three of us that camped together agreed we would 10/10 recommend this place, and that we’ll definitely be back ourselves! Great experience!!! 🏕️💚

Disconnect and unwind

Thus place is gorgeous. If you are allergic to bees this is not the place for you. Other than that, the cabin was clean and cozy, the showers were super hot, and it was quiet and peaceful. No cell service so a great place to disconnect. The hiking trails were numerous and we loved overlooking the stream. Highly reccomend bringing lots of either gas or propane to juice the cabin if you are doing winter camping or heat of the summer camping. A small ceramic space heater and an electric blanket kept us plenty warm. Carrie is an extremely good host. Highly reccomend her cabins.

Love this place

Absolutely love this place. Quiet, comfortable, and everyone that works or camps here is very friendly. We will always come here and reserve this spot as long as it’s available.

Site 20 - The Slab Campground

We stayed at site 20 and it was an amazing experience. the place is beautiful the creek runs right beside all of the sites so it’s perfect for camping and hanging out. 30$ well spent!

Nice weekend Getaway

The Slab was a great place to get away for the weekend with our small family. Plenty of kayaking and fishing. Carrie was a great host and went the extra mile! Thank you!
