When to Go
Most visitors come to Stony Brook State Park to enjoy the natural pools, making summer the busiest season—swimming is typically permitted from mid-June through the first week in September when guards are on duty. If visiting on a summer weekend, try to arrive early, as the park can get uncomfortably crowded. During the winter season, most areas of the park are closed to the public including the South Entrance and all hiking trails.
Know Before You Go
- Due to damage caused by visitors, walking, swimming, and wading in the creek has been banned.
- A maximum of two pets are allowed in campsites and day use areas, but not in the swimming area, and must be on a leash and have proof of rabies inoculation.
- There are a number of grocery stores in Dansville, a few minutes away.
