Weekend Trip to Hemlock Hideaway

It is the perfect getaway with being far enough away but not to far from plenty to do. A small cozy cabin nestled in the woods with a back drop that is perfect for every sunrise to sunset. Geneva on the lake is only 15 mins away with plenty of stuff to make for a busy weekend or to stay put and light a fire, relax and unwind. The hosts are very accommodating and easy to work with. A great time for all people and their pets!

I had a nice hot tent solo camp by the creek. There was wood supplied by Craig in my short notice of booking the site. The site is tucked away on the bank of the creek with plenty of flat areas to pitch a tent and great views and sounds of the creek. I post my stays at Get Livin Outdoors on YouTube. Yes you park close to your truck or car. The site was private and peaceful. I definitely would return again.

Weekend Trip to CHERRY VALLEY CHILL

I had a great weekend of camping. The cabin was clean and very comfortable. The wood burning stove provided the perfect amount of warmth. I enjoyed the sounds of all the wildlife outside the doors. From the geese to the pack of howling coyotes, to all the farm animals in the area. Tim had the outside fire pit already set and the inside stove as well. He made sure we were stocked with more than enough wood for the weekend, and messaged me to make sure I still had enough wood. The outdoor porta potty was very clean and a very nice perk from our normal camping locations. It was also nice being able to let my dog run free all weekend. He enjoyed that very much. I highly recommend this site and will definitely be coming back here again!

We were warmly greeted by host with fire blazing in fire pit & woodstove! Plenty of firewood provided. Very appreciated on a cold evening in Nov! Beautiful site!!! Can’t say enough! Loved all of the lights, the pull down platform was great for our folding mattress, even a charging station for our phones, plenty of room for ourselves & our pups. The outhouse was convenient & clean. Felt very private. Highly recommend!

Such a beautiful location. The views were amazing. The hosts were super accommodating and kind. They were on site when we visited, and they offered to give my nieces and nephews a ride in their buggy. They had a blast. Kids and dogs loved trekking through the creek and exploring the waterfall. The open field was great for us to play all sorts of games. Played capture the flag at night. All in all a great time.

Nice, off-the-beaten-path campground with lots of ammenities, clean restrooms, and a wonderful community “HUB” for relaxing and getting connected. The only downside to our stay was that the site we picked (hard to see online what you might be next to…) was very close to a long-term camper who’s living space was about a foot away from our sewer dump. Made dump time a bit awkward. Otherwise, a very quiet and peaceful location that I’m sure will prosper in the coming years. Would definitely stay again.

The toilet is not available in winter due to freezing temps. We keep it open through October and generally close it sometime in November. It's pretty dark here. There are no large cities anywhere around here. My family moved here in 1957 and I purchased it from my father in 1975. My wife is responsible for much of the landscaping and home improvements that have been done since 1990. We are retired self-employed .

Located just outside of Parker, PA and 25 minutes from I-80, our campsite is very accessible, yet still very remote. With 4 campsites on 75 acres, guests have ample privacy and space, with the freedom to roam this posted property that has no homes on it. Perched high above the Allegheny there are several spots to take in the wonderful views. There is also a waterfall with a 3’ deep pool below it. Great for splashing with kids or dogs, guests love exploring the creek bottom and making new discoveries. The more curious guests sometimes find the ruins of the original homestead, chimney and spring house that sit upstream. The property is teeming with wildlife. Birds and tree frogs will be the soundtrack of your visit, and often deer will be seen nosing along the outskirts of your site in the mornings and evenings. Turkey, bald eagles and even bear are occasionally spotted, so be prepared to secure your food and trash at night. For those coming to disconnect, you have found the right place. *We have managed to keep our prices the same since our opening in 2019. Sadly, Hipcamp has raised our fee from 10 to 15%, beginning September 1, 2025. This increase will hit us hard and we have no choice but to increase our prices as well* Hemlock Hideaway and its 18 acres was originally part of a larger 100-acre plot that was surveyed and settled in the late 1700's by Gideon Granger of the Connecticut Land Company. Granger sold it to one Jehoikim Burget in 1815 for the whopping price of $400. The resident house was built in 1816 by Burget and then passed down to family members over the next 5 generations, until we bought it in 2003, marking the first time the house and remaining property were ever officially sold. In the mid 1800's, a grist mill was put up across the river from the cabin, and our creek was the main road in and out of that operation. There is a gravestone belonging to the wife of Jehoikim's son, she being half Native American and therefore couldn't be buried in the local white cemetery. We also own the original hand-written deed from 1815 detailing the sale of the original 100 acres to Jehoikim Burget. Learn more about this land: Our primitive cabin nestled in the woods overlooking the Grand River is a nature-lover's paradise! Come canoe, fish, experience wine country, or unplug and just get away from it all. Please note: There is no running water or electricity at the site, but the cabin is generator-ready and there is an outhouse. The cabin does have a wood burning stove for heat and simple cooking, however there is no running water or electricity. That being said, the building is wired and has plugs and outlets and is generator-ready. You provide your own generator and fuel. We provide sheets, pillows, flashlights, a fire ring with cooking grate, charcoal grill (you provide the charcoal), access to firewood, and an outhouse with toilet paper. Our 1/4 mile of Grand River frontage can be accessed right outside the cabin door via a quick hike down the steep hillside. If hiking isn't preferred, then a quick two-minute drive will take you to the Harpersfield Covered Bridge Metropark - a favorite of local fishermen. Bigger groups with tents are welcome, but will need to bring all supplies beyond what we provide for two guests.

Hello, this is 22 acres of no frills undeveloped land with beautiful Arcola Creek that runs into Lake Erie. There's room for an RV or can pitch a tent. Enjoy Arcola Creek Estuary a mile away, bird watching, multiple wineries, covered bridges, Geneva on the Lake or enjoy all day by the creek. There is a perfect spot with a fire pit. (Firewood provided-please leave some for the next camper if early in the week.) There are rough trails in the back where the land was logged. There is not a bridge currently but can be accessed easily when the water level is low. Please limit guests to 6 or less people. Land is not perfectly level. Although neighbors are some distance away I asked that noise levels are low after 10. Facts & History:: Arcola creek runs into an estuary. Its one of the last remaining natural estuaries in Ohio. Steelhead trout spawn and migratory birds find shelter here. The creek was used by Native Americans and the area was instrumental for its role in the Underground Railroad for escaped slaves that boarded ships (at the end of the Dock Rd) on their way to Canada. The town of Ellensburg was built at the junction of Arcola Creek and Lake Erie. It was a thriving community of ship builders, fishermen and commerce. Arcole Iron Works was located south of the mouth of the creek (then called Cunningham Creek after Captain John Cunningham who purchased property there in the early 1800s). Arcole Iron Works was, at one time, the largest industry in Ohio. Bog iron, discovered in Madison Township near North Ridge Road in 1812, and the abundance of timber provided the raw materials for iron furnaces. Iron stoves, kettles, hollowware and other heavy castings were made at the foundry. Everyone is welcome here, let me know ahead of time if there's anything to make your stay more comfortable.
