Stoney Run Primitive Tent Camping

Wonderful, peaceful night just off a quiet country road. Drive back to site was well maintained and easy to access. Our campsite was big and well-separated from the other sites. I appreciate all off the wild plants and scrub left between sites so as to make it almost impossible to see or be seen by other campsites. The outhouse was clean and well-maintained. Our site, itself, was incredible with the gorgeous stream flowing right along the actual edge of our site. My son was able to play in the, then, shallow stream while I cooked dinner. The stream is beautiful, clear and the sound of it flowing over the rapids was enjoyed throughout the night.

Site 6 gateway to the stars

Stoney Run is a very nicely maintained camp tucked away in a mountain gorge. You’re surrounded by trees, a trickling creek, and nature all around. They had freshly cut and stocked wood for warm fires available to purchase daily. The outhouse was clean and close to our campsite which was convenient. Site 6 is a serene little getaway our family of 5 enjoyed. Memories made sitting by the fire and stargazing up at an exceptionally clear, bright night sky. We would be happy to stay again.

Beautiful and quiet, best camping spot ever!! Plenty of space between the sites, outhouse available during busy season, and lots of firewood for sale. It was extremely peaceful and I loved sleeping next to the creek. I cannot recommend this place enough!

The campsite itself was great and it felt private. You can’t beat the price per night either. However, I did feel as though it wasn’t a very peaceful camping experience as our neighbors listened to music until it got dark (they did turn the volume down and I appreciated that) and also it sounded like work was being done maybe wood getting cut (I wasn’t sure what it was but it was a loud power tool of some sort) The camping itself was wonderful, however the noise level throughout the day did not provide us with a peaceful camping experience.

Site 5 good creek spot

Site 5 is a nice spot on the creek for a week’s stay. The water access is very good. The very large tent is convenient. I didn’t use it much, but it’s a nice feature. The toilet is nearby but I also did not use it preferring my own. There are at least 7 campsites here, so it feels like a small park campground traffic wise. However, it still feels mostly private and quiet. I caught 2 trout fly fishing with my Tenkara at the site that were challenging with flies. 12” rainbows and browns were seeking safe haven in this hole where most of the creek had become shallow for early July. However, they were no match for kids with night crawlers and float bobbers that easily pulled several out of the hole at this campsite 5. Who am I to give kids a hard time for having fun, but I ended my fishing. Still. All in all it was nice. I appreciate the offer of the property and will return if available when next passing through the area.

Second time camping at Stoney creek camp ground. This is hands down the best deal/place to camp in the area. They have everything you need right there. The owners Curtis and Sarah are amazing and gracious hosts. Can’t wait to come back and bring the whole family. 5 out of 5 would recommend.

Camping at Stoney was so lovely! The proximity to the creek is absolutely the highlight, but the pathways between the sites are lightly lit at night and its nearby to wonderful hiking/lake activities. We will absolutely be back!

Curtis was an amazing host! The camp was very well maintained and property was beautiful. Convenient wood, bathrooms, and hiking available for nature lovers. They were very welcoming and kind to us during our stay. We also got to see Curtis doing some camp maintenance with some tree work! Definitely plan on returning. Some of the nicest people we’ve encountered traveling

I really enjoyed my stay here! The campsite had everything we needed — plenty of wood available, clean toilets, and it’s right next to a beautiful stream. My kids had so much fun exploring and playing outside. There are 10 total camping spots, and my favorites were #6 and #10. Nothing beats being outdoors with no internet, away from everyone, just relaxing in nature. Curtis and his wife were incredibly helpful and you can tell they take a lot of pride in keeping the grounds well-maintained. I would definitely come back again!

This was an absolutely beautiful camping spot!! We really could not ask for better. We had ourselves a Christmas hot tent camp right along side a gorgeous creek. We'll secluded and very peaceful. Thank you guys sooooo much! We definitely plan on returning often!

We stayed at site #5 and everything was perfect. The host Curtis and the site. We arrived and noticed he left some dry kindling to start a fire and they have plenty of firewood to purchase. The tent was clean and even had a chair to use. The bathroom was really close and the views were amazing. We definitely will return in the future.

This place is a slice of heaven

If you're looking for a place to just melt into nature, this is it. It's quiet, and secluded. It's beautiful, and tranquil. The site was very clean and had plenty of space. It was right on the water, and had a picnic table and fire ring available. It had little sections of woods on each side so you don't have to look at your neighbors. It was also very close to the bathroom, which had hand sanitizer and lots of toilet paper. The bathroom also had lights in it that came on at night, which was very convenient. The hosts are some of the nicest people we've ever met, and you can tell they take great pride in this Campground. They had split wood for sale on site and also had ice. Their is a trail to a little fishing/swimming hole under the bridge where there were tons of trout. The site was very easy to find and get to. It was only about 5 mins to the closest store and about 10 mins to a local spring. This place is a great place to get back to the basics with a little added convenience.

Great, private spot on a beautiful piece of property. My family enjoyed turning over rocks in the creek and cooking over the fire. The tent was plenty large enough for our family of 4 and the toilet was close by. We’ll be back again!

It was the prefect place to be one with nature but also not far from society if you ever feel like you forgot something or need something. The campsites are very well taken care of and leave room for what ever setup you got. Having wood on site is also a plus. Can’t wait to see what more they do to the place. Definitely recommend any of the sites you won’t be disappointed. Hope to come back in fall and see the change of the leaves.

Loved this site - plenty of space for a family, you can use the tent that is there or pitch a few of your own. Several flat spots to put your things. Close to the toilet. You know other people are nearby but it still feels private. Being right next to the water is *chef's kiss* lovely. Everything is clean and well kept. Curtis was great, friendly and responded quickly. Definitely will be staying here again!
