nature-lovers quiet getaway!
This was my first trip booking through Hipcamp. What started as a sisters' weekend ended up being a solo trip, and I'm so glad I still went. I was lucky enough to have the entire place to myself, which made it even more peaceful.
It was such a wonderful change from busy state campgrounds. The setting is very natural, quiet, and perfect if you're looking to unplug and recharge. At night it definitely felt a little creepy—but only because my imagination tends to run wild! I had no issues with bugs (I sprayed a lot though! 😂). I saw a bunny, lots of birds—especially crows, which are my favorite—and on the first night, a deer walked right up near my A-frame while I was out stargazing. )I loved hearing the howling coyotes! I also walked around to check out the other sites, and they all have their own unique perks.Gumdrop was definitely my favorite because it's tucked away and feels so private.
A few recommendations if you stay:
If you're like me and not 20 anymore 😂, consider bringing an air mattress. I ended up buying one after my first night because my body was feeling it!
Gumdrop has beautiful twinkle lights, but they take 4 AA batteries. I happened to bring some, and they made the whole place feel even more magical.
There are a few solar lights, but I also brought some glow sticks as a backup for a little extra light at night. If you use them, just remember to pack them back out with you.
