On the upper Bad River, I have a special location that I'd like to share for others to enjoy.
I was fortunate to acquire this land 20 years ago and now that I have retired from the United States Air Force, I can dedicate time to create peaceful campsites along the river.
This land was originally railroad property as the railroad companies bought much land in the late 1800's to have options to place their railroads.
There is still a railroad track nearby but it has been unused since 2015 and it makes a nice hiking path along the river for many miles to the north into the national forest.
There are 3 waterfalls nearby and I will have many signs leading to the waterfalls.
There are 4 total campsites on the property, 1 site you can drive to (Eagle Pines), and 3 tent sites that require 1/8 mile hike to 2 sites, and a 1/4 mile hike to the other hike-in site.
There is no leash required for good pups. If your pup is aggressive with other dogs or people please leash them when on the hiking trails. If your pups would stay in your campsite no leash is required. Other campers may be hiking past your campsite on the trails that is still over 100 feet away from others campsites. You may run into others on the trails where others dogs may not be leashed. If your dog is aggressive to other dogs even if yours is on leash if you can’t control them please muzzle them.

River's Edge is a four season adventure company in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, outfitting adventurers with equipment and guidance. The property is located on the Manitowish River, Heart of Vilas County bike trail, and Iron County snowmobile trails. By car we're about eight minutes from WinMan Trails, ten minutes from MECCA Trails and Mercer, three minutes from Manitowish Waters. As we're right on the bike path, riding to lunch or dinner is easy, with lots of yummy options close by.
We have two campsites on our property, primarily for adventurers looking for a central basecamp location from which to go do all the fun things we have available in the Northwoods. Campsites are located on the west end of the property, in proximity to all the activities, and include full hookups, a picnic table and fire ring.
Site One is closest to the river and bike path. It's more secluded and separate from the main lodge area. Of the two sites, this is the best if you plan to hang around camp and chill. It does have trees lining the parking space, so if you have a trailer above 11'-13' be careful backing in.
Site Two is right off of the main parking area next to the lodge building. While we're working on natural barrier growth, it is kind of in the middle of activity during our busy seasons. It is, however, the easiest to back into with a large trailer. If you're looking for a convenient place to bring your RV or trailer and don't mind being less secluded, this is for you. If you're looking for a national forest experience, this is not for you.
The main lodge is open for use until 10pm-ish. There are couches, tables and board games available for guests. A bathroom is available for campers in the lodge, however there is no shower. We highly recommend The Manitowish Waters Athletic Club for shower facilities, hot tub, and pool. Day passes are reasonably priced and the facility is extremely well appointed. It's about three minutes by car or ten by bike.
Campers get a discount on rental equipment. Wifi is available in the lodge.
Our sites are open year-round, although water service will be turned off when temps are below freezing.

Our 9 acre wooded lot is a safe, secluded and woodsy retreat overlooking the beautiful Chippewa River. The shallow river is perfect for wading, tubing, paddling & fishing. The undergrowth is a carpet of ferns & native plants. Birders will love this spot. We also encourage bringing your dog friends.

TENT site: Tent site is pretty basic-- it fits one large tent (12'x15') pad and has a fire ring, a cooking grate and picnic table. While it does not have electricity, there is an outlet on the property to charge phones, etc.
CAMPERS/VANS: We have 30 Amp electric hookup available for small campers! Bring your pop-up, pull-behind, camper van or roof tent. Intermediate trailer-backing skills are necessary to reach the camper site.
BATHROOM: Our well maintained outhouse is a short walk from the tent site, and stays stocked with TP. It also has a solar light for night-time visits.
*We do not allow hunting, shooting or ATV riding on the property. Archery practice is Ok however.
** As we continue our A-Frame cabin build, you may see some construction clutter. We will never be working during your stay, however - you'll have the place to yourself unless otherwise agreed upon. Feel free to view the cabin from the outside but please do not enter the structure.

We are renting out our gorgeous river property located on the Chippewa River in Exeland, WI!! Our 5-acre property is equipped with electricity and power pedestals for multiple RVs, lots of space for outdoor games, a campfire area surrounded by string lights, and newly-constructed steps down to the river. There is a deep swimming hole out in front of the property, great for fishing too, and a boat landing across the river for putting in kayaks and fishing boats. Experience upscale camping–Glamping in the Forested Hills of Lake Superior. Sailor Springs is a small three-site campground located just two miles outside of the picturesque tourist town of Bayfield, WI. 2023 will be our first year of operation and we’re excited to host campers on the property and provide a unique camping experience.
The campground is spread out over 5 acres of forest that you’ll hike into from Bresette Hill Road. After parking at the trailhead, you’ll gather your bags and hike into your glamping site. The trail winds through the woods, leading you first to a valley where the seasonal Clark Creek runs through in the spring. The first two campsites are on the other side of this valley. The trail can be steep in spots and requires a moderate level of fitness and mobility to reach the secluded campsites. The third site is a bit farther into the forest, the little A-frame cabin, Anchor sits on the edge of the spring-fed Brickyard Creek that flows year-round.
We have many plans for the property and depending on when you stay, the campground will be in various stages of development. The campsites, trailhead / parking area, and trails are scheduled to be completed in early spring. We hope to add amenities such as a camp sauna and screened-in gazebo later in the 2024 summer / fall. There’s plenty of room for tents or a camper. There is a small pond in the campsite area (great frog catching says my 7-year-old). Spend your days trompin’ through the trees, sittin’ ‘round the campfire, or explorin’ the Penokee Mountain range’s rugged beauty.
For the adventurous, a private trail leads to Happy Creek Flowage, a 10-acre lake ‘bout a half-mile hike away (30 minutes round-trip on foot). It’s a bit of a trek—expect hilly, mountainous terrain—but a paddle boat awaits for a peaceful float. We are working on getting a dock back there but until then expect to wear high boots or to get wet walking to the paddle boat. There is no public access, so it’s all yours! ATVs or wheelers can also zip along the trail for faster fun.
The area’s brimming with summer adventures—fishin’, hikin’, foragin’, golfin’, or ATV ridin’ on nearby trails. Copper Falls State Park, just 6.5 miles north, offers stunnin’ views, while Drop Tine restaurant in Cayuga (3.5 miles south) serves up a mean fish fry and burgers.

This was a wonderful place to camp for the long weekend! We loved being so close to the river and feeling like we had the whole place to ourselves.
Directions for getting there were very clear and we found the parking area right away and our campsite shortly after.
Mosquitos were pretty bad, but it was that time of year so we were expecting them and prepared.
Overall, it is a wonderful place to stay and I would definitely come back another time!

The view at this site was gorgeous! The hike to the site was an adventure for someone not as experienced with hiking, but I still managed fine. The site was very peaceful but a little buggy, not too surprising though as it’s nature haha. It was a very nice and clean campsite. We unfortunately had to cut our trip short, but hope we can return one day. We appreciate being provided with so much information prior to arrival. Thank you for maintaining such a lovely site. This site was very secluded and private. We loved having water and electricity hookups. The only negative was how far away the river was from the site. At no fault of the property owner, it had rained prior to our arrival which resulted in a muddy trail to the water.

We thought Colton's property was a perfect spot! We enjoyed the quietness with the sounds of the wildlife. This is a perfect camping spot when you are not wanting any of the campground neighbors and chaos!♡
There is a firewood stand at the end of Haugen Road, which was super handy! We spent the day fishing Mineral Lake and English Lake. Mineral Lake there was not much for fish. The fish we caught on Enlish Lake werent too big. But enjoyed the peacefulness of the lakes!
Couple suggestions we had thought of for the property:
1. Have camping area mowed down. Leave a mower/weed whip, or suggest bringing one in the site posting.
2. We loved the Haugen Road Camp sign that let us know that was the property! We thought a sign on the tree with an arrow going up the hill saying "camp this way" or something along those lines would have been super helpful! We arrived late at night and was hard to find where the camp site actually was!
3. There was previous postings about the leg on the picnic table being broken. Its still broken and that corner of the table is not useful. Replace the table or reinforce the leg so that someone can sit there.
I was very pleased with this campsite and believe many others will enjoy their time here 🏕 🔥🎣🦉🌲

Chris and Brandon are amazing guides and will set you up upstream so that you can paddle downstream exploring and learning and living. The use of the lodge was a wonderful surprise.
