River's Edge is a four season adventure company in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, outfitting adventurers with equipment and guidance. The property is located on the Manitowish River, Heart of Vilas County bike trail, and Iron County snowmobile trails. By car we're about eight minutes from WinMan Trails, ten minutes from MECCA Trails and Mercer, three minutes from Manitowish Waters. As we're right on the bike path, riding to lunch or dinner is easy, with lots of yummy options close by. We have two campsites on our property, primarily for adventurers looking for a central basecamp location from which to go do all the fun things we have available in the Northwoods. Campsites are located on the west end of the property, in proximity to all the activities, and include full hookups, a picnic table and fire ring. Site One is closest to the river and bike path. It's more secluded and separate from the main lodge area. Of the two sites, this is the best if you plan to hang around camp and chill. It does have trees lining the parking space, so if you have a trailer above 11'-13' be careful backing in. Site Two is right off of the main parking area next to the lodge building. While we're working on natural barrier growth, it is kind of in the middle of activity during our busy seasons. It is, however, the easiest to back into with a large trailer. If you're looking for a convenient place to bring your RV or trailer and don't mind being less secluded, this is for you. If you're looking for a national forest experience, this is not for you. The main lodge is open for use until 10pm-ish. There are couches, tables and board games available for guests. A bathroom is available for campers in the lodge, however there is no shower. We highly recommend The Manitowish Waters Athletic Club for shower facilities, hot tub, and pool. Day passes are reasonably priced and the facility is extremely well appointed. It's about three minutes by car or ten by bike. Campers get a discount on rental equipment. Wifi is available in the lodge. Our sites are open year-round, although water service will be turned off when temps are below freezing.

Campsite 1 is closest to the river, and accessible from Manitowish River Access Rd. Of our two sites, this is the most secluded, although it's close enough to the main lodge for easy access. The campsite will accommodate trailers and RVs of varying sizes as well as adventure vehicles and vans. There is some tree cover, so we recommend that campers recon the approach before backing large rigs in. The Manitowish River, accessible across the paved bike path from the campsite, is a class I river and provides excellent wilderness paddling and fishing. Also nearby are four expertly groomed XC ski trail systems. 40 mins to ABR, Winter Park and Zip Trails. Snowshoeing and hiking from the property into adjacent state land with wilderness trails close by. MTB and hiking trail system within ten min. at WinMan Trails, which turn into groomed fat bike trails in winter. We facilitate adventures from tube floats and multi-day paddle expeditions to e-bikes and XC skis…and everything in between. Depending on the season, you can expect to be drawn into the activity of a busy summer day or the quiet and solitude of a fall weekend. The location is central to everything the Northwoods has to offer, and is designed as a basecamp for outdoor recreation. History fans will appreciate the significance of this location’s heritage and connection to native trading, prohibition-era rum running, big timber, and the occasional notable gangsters. A range of great food and drink options are close, but don’t let that steer you away from your Jet Boil. Campers receive a discount on equipment rental. We even have camping gear and can arrange to have tents set up on site if you wish.

Campsite 2 is located directly off of the parking area close to the main lodge building. Of our two sites, this one is the least secluded, although it's also the easiest to access for larger trailers or RVs. If you're looking for a convenient basecamp site and are here to be outside doing fun Northwoods things, this will be perfect. If you're looking for a park-like setting, and you tend to spend your time hanging out at camp, this may not be your style. This place is great. Close to everything. The staff is friendly and helpful with great tips on where to go and what to eat. Brandon, Chris and Jeremy really stepped up to make our experience great. We were a short drive from the mountain bike trails and a short walk from the river for a paddle.

This campsite was very nice because it was large and had many trees around it. We appreciated having access to the lodge. We arrived late the first night and decided to enjoy the indoor fireplace instead of making a fire at our campsite and it was so nice! We were also able to get our morning coffee inside. We also appreciated that it's directly across from a put in on the Manitowish River so it was simple to go paddling.

Great location! Beautiful spot right on the river. Very friendly workers at the lodge as well. Might not be for the kind of camper who just wants to sit at their site all day but if you're lookong for an adventure down the river or to get some mileage on the beautiful bike trails then this is an AMAZING spot. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful site, view of the river right outside the door, great hosts, dog friendly...canoe rental got us out on the Manotowish River for a few beautiful paddles. This is a place you can't wait to come back to, a private site, beautifully wooded, full hook up and the river right out your front door.

We loved that the campsite. It had everything we needed & was beautiful. Only steps from the bike trail & steps from where we could put our kayaks in the river. The taff was great too.

Property is in a terrific location for Biking and/or paddling. We did both and rented 3 E bikes for family that had traveled from the West Coast. They loved the trails and its scenic beauty. Our youngest guest caught a Northern Pike right off the river bank. As birders they were blown away by the number of species they ticked off their wish list. I’ve already booked another stay this summer. Loved our camp site and the hosts!

Nice place with plenty do. The river is a short walk from the campsite, canoes, kayaks, cubes, and bicycles are all available for a discounted rental fee. Access to miles of paved bike paths too.

Very cool camping site. Right next to the river and biking trail, so plenty of activities. They are running a kayak/tubing/biking rental business so it can get a little busy there, but the evenings are very quiet and peaceful. Water pressure was great for RVs and they do have full hookups. They do also allow access to the lodge and use of their kayaks, canoes etc after hours. My family had a great time!

Our family loves camping at Rivers Edge. Chris and his son always make us feel welcome. We enjoy the spacious site and close proximity to bike trails, quaint shops and yummy restaurants in the Northwoods. We can't wait to return.

Wow!!!!!! What a wonderful place. Our host were so gracious and friendly. The area was beautiful. Great walking/hiking and things to do on the water with your the rental lodge being right there. Definitely would stay again.

We really enjoyed being at Campsite 1. The location offered privacy and a lovely river view. Brandon was exceptional in helping us with whatever we needed. Would highly recommend staying here!

We love rivers edge adventures camp area. It's has a perfect view of the river. The sites are all level and have full utilities. Chris is an excellent host. Despite other claims the grounds are quiet after hwy 51 settles down at night. We will stay here again for sure

Nice quiet spot . Our space held (2) 20’ vans. January stay so no water hook up but did have power available. No showers. Bathroom available at main building.

Chris and Renee are simply excellent hosts! This was our 4th stay at the property. Clean, comfortable and relaxing. The property is especially well suited for paddling and biking the many miles of river and perfect bike trails. The lodge is very comfortable and a great space for a cocktail or even a meal around the table. Wonderful place! We will be back again!

My Trip to Manitowish 🏕️🛶

I really enjoyed this area! I decided to tent camp instead of RV, so I had tons of extra space at the site! During office (till 5pm) hours you will have a lot of people walk by for the kayak rental but it didn’t bother me or my dog at all. The site has Wi-Fi, electricity and water hookups which was great! Each site also has fire rings but the office back porch has a much nicer setup and had light music playing which I liked! Site 1 is probably the best location here, as it’s close to the river and is a bit more secluded with all the trees. Site 2 is right off the parking lot and is wide open grass setup. The local grocery store in Mercer is only about 8 min away and had solid prices and selection. The owners had a nice selection of wines available for purchase as well. Overall, I had a great experience here and would definitely recommend and visit again! This was also my first time using the Hipcamp app and everything went smoothly!

Super awesome experience. Idealic base camp right on the river and next to some of the flowiest paved bike trails I’ve ever been on thru the woods that connect to Winman Trails. OneWheel and dog friendly campsite! Chris is an amazing host and just wants you to have an adventure and a good time. So much to do all out your back tent door! Many thanks to the gracious hosts!

I spent 3 days/nights at Campsite 1. Everything was great. If you have a long trailer, it can be tricky to maneuver (back) in to. My 19' single-axle was zero-issues. The site is level and firm. All hookups worked as they should. There's a little road noise from Hwy 51 during the day, but it quiets at night. Mosquitos? They're part of the Northwoods Experience. A little bug spray will keep most away. The site overlooks a put-in on the Manitowish River. Very scenic. And there's a bike route that crosses right in front of camp. I had 24-hour access to the River's Edge Adventure Company's main building. But, with all services on-board my trailer, I never needed the building. The site is a 5 minute drive from downtown Manitowish Waters and 10 mins from WinMan MTB trails. If you haven't been to that area in the last 5 years, go check it out again. There has been some BIG investment that has beautified the area nicely. Miles of nicely landscaped paved cycling paths. And for the mountain bikers, WinMan is epic. Restaurants, taverns, groceries, lakes, rivers ... Manitowish Waters has all that. Will be going back to spend some more time up there.

This is what "UP North" truly means. A much-needed retreat and vacation for my husband and I! The RV spot is perfectly picked near the Manitowish River, and close enough to the beautiful "modern cabin" themed lodge, and office. With full hook up for your RV; and was simple for us since we have a shower. The ground under our RV, has pebbles so it never got muddy. We were surrounded by tall trees, grass, the woods, and the sound of a flowing creek and of course the river. Walking into the lodge was a sweet cedar aroma, and visitors relaxing on comfy couches, and ottomans. Soft hip music plays in the inside, as well as the outside, during the open hours. There is an acoustic guitar in the corner, a record player with an array of records; sitting on a large fireplace. And of course it is decorated with antique snowshoes, wooden canoes, games of all sorts...and plenty of gifts representing River's Edge Adventure Co. Our friendly doodle was highly welcomed inside, by guests and by the friendly employees. They even add to the dog loving space, with their own fur babies. The owner Chris/family & employees were full of wonderful knowledge, stories, and ideas for a great visit. We easily kayaked up and down the river, with ease. Renting our first e-bikes into Boulder Junction was quite an adventure. I do recommend taking a bike path map though; because it can easily be confused by the navigational husband lol! I can't say enough about this gem. If only I could keep it a secret.
