We loved staying at the adventure cabin! We had a lovely time relaxing in the hot tub and laying in the hammocks. We had 2 children with us and they slept well on the pullout, but we also think it’s the perfect get-away cabin for a couple. Fancy Gap is a cute town and we would be happy coming through this way again sometime!

Weekend Trip to Mystic Meadow Farm Glamping.
My dog and I had the absolute best weekend at the “Love Shack” in Mystic Meadow. Wendy has created a woodland oasis with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The location is easy to find, but feels a thousand miles away from the daily grind. The cabin is perfect, thedeck was outfitted with chairs for relaxing, a swing near the creek, and the woody trails were full of fun treasures. And did I mention the fire pit? We enjoyed visiting the fluffy butts and the goats along the trail, listening to the creek as it bubbled along and watching fireflies from the deck and morning visits with deer. Wendy suggested a couple of places to visit locally, which had great trails and shopping options. We even visited a local drive in on Saturday night. There are lots of options near by for all kinds of entertainment. In fact I’m checking my calendar for another trip in the fall. I highly recommend booking a trip to mystic Meadows, you will not be disappointed. Thanks Wendy for a great weekend and being a terrific host. We really didn’t want to leave! .

Roni is a WONDERFUL host! Not only did she let us come in late and give us great directions, she also let us see her historic home, meet her puppy dogs, learn about tinctures, and even pick her black raspberries!!! Also, her bathroom/outhouses are great! Flushing, water-saving camp toilets!

Wendy was a great host! Every little detail added up to a wonderful stay! Cute, comfortable, and dry (it rained a couple of evenings during our stay) A-frame provided privacy. The shower house was awesome and she even has walking trails! Come to the Mystic Meadow Love Shack, sit in the rocking chairs, and listen to the riffle of the minnow-filled brook and RELAX!

Pan's camping shelter overlooking the New River is tranquil. We stayed two nights, and it was a great place to experience nature. The site has a view of the river and a path down to the New River Trail. We saw a deer run through the campsite, and three deer swimming across the river. The shelter was a great place to wait out a few rain showers we experienced over the weekend. I would recommend staying at this campsite.

Wonderful place! Truly breathtaking view. Perfect for two tents- one under the enclosure and one near the fire pit. River is not as accessible as we would imagined; it's quite a hilly hike down to it- definitely not meant for everyone! But we were able to drive a few minutes to Fries and have a relaxing serene river/beach vibe. Also, small fridge in photos wasn't there, but the running water made cooking and washing dishes very easy. Highly recommend this place.

I enjoyed tent camping on Roni's land. The property and amenities were as described. During An evening walk in the area, we saw cows, a pond with cattails, talked to a nearby neighbor and photographed some beautiful pastures and trees. Very quiet at night. They have a little dog that we made friends with. My Google maps helped us find the place very well.Cell phone service was intermittent afterwards. Would recommend to others

Wonderful spot. We had a great time. Very relaxing and quiet. The yurt had all the kitchen cooking essentials for meals and the bathroom was very nice. Our 2 GSDs had a lot of fun exploring the area and there was plenty of space for their beds in the living area. We didn’t really explore the town or near by attractions(the grocery store was about 15 mins away so that was great), just enjoyed the nature and view.

I stayed here with my husband, dog and two kids. I put the kids on two pool floats and they slept comfortably in the floor on those. AC was nice and the creek near the treehouse is magic! We slept great even though a big thunderstorm. Only thing I could've wished for is maybe a coffee pot but we'll remember to bring it next time!

Learn more about this land: Fall asleep to hooting owls and the gentle ripple of the river and creek that flank your campsite. Wake up with a dip in the river or a morning hike in the woods. Feel the hug of the mountains throughout your stay, while also having access to Blacksburg nearby should you need it.  DIRECTIONS: Upon entry the gravel road is shared with my neighbor and it is about 1.5 miles from the entry gate to the site. You'll enter thru a gate (it may be closed, if closed please close behind you as my neighbor sometimes has cows). Go approx 1 mile the road will split...go up the hill on the right. Continue past the Hay barn another half mile. Park on the left side of the gravel road along the tree line. Another 50ft you'll see a wood foot bridge across the creek. The sites are ahead, PawPaw is first, then Bloodroot Base Camp (bell tent), and lastly Cohosh Cove is the most private. Each site has a sign as well When driving, please be respectful of the right of way. Drive slowly and respect the farm equipment. Also please do not venture onto the neighbor’s property other than entry and exit. About the property 20 minutes from Blacksburg and 35 minutes from Roanoke, our campground gives you great access to the “Triple Crown” of the Appalachian trail, consisting of McAfee Knob, Tinker Cliffs, and Dragon’s Tooth. Conquer these iconic peaks of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains for spectacular views of the surrounding wilderness. My farm had been untouched for years and only used as hay farming. It is rolling hills known by the locals as "Butterfly Hill" Which the farm is home to many species of butterflies in the summer. I know the area was inhabited by native Americans many decades ago. I have found a few broken arrow heads over the years. The farm is beautiful and quiet. I have a beautiful hiking trail around the property for you to take your fur babies on. The cabin is right on a beautiful stream too. There are several state parks nearby and river tubing within 10 -30 minutes. Hot showers and potable water just a few feet away.

This property was once a 300 acre plus tobacco farm. The original log cabin was built in the 1850s and now serves as our dining room. The front portion of the house was completed in April of 1861 and the back in the early 1900s. We have plans to eventually turn it into a working farm which produces tinctures, salves and extracts of various native plants including hemp. Hi there. Here is a little rundown of everything we do at the mill…. So, as far as camping, there are two main options on either side of the river; the mill yard or primitive camping across the river. In the mill yard, we do festival style camping, meaning that there are no individual campsites per se, but rather a large grassy lawn near the mill and bathhouse with shared fire pits, picnic tables, charcoal grill, and sinks for water/dishes. We also have two platforms up in the woods that are good for a little more privacy and are completely shaded, but do require a small climb up the hill. The bathhouse has three restrooms and hot showers in each. Across the river, there are several more primitive sites that are generally very private and offer great sounds coming from the river and waterfall, but no facilities. Most sites are car accessible, and a 5 minute walk back over to the mill (or a 1 minute drive). Lastly, our newest camping spot on the primitive side is a river front beach right by the dam with space for a several medium sized tents and a private fire pit. The beach is hike-in only (2-3 minutes along a mostly flat trail). Our normal rate is $10 per person per night. Firewood is available for $10 per wheelbarrow load. We accept cash, credit card, Venmo, Paypal, and crypto. We are also fairly flexible on check in/check out times, but just let us know if you’ll be arriving at odd hours. Dogs are generally welcome as long as they are kept on leash. Here is a little rundown of tubing at the mill (May-October, weather permitting). We have two tubing options available. We have a short Fun Run that takes roughly 45 minutes, and cost $10 per person for as many rides as you’d like. The river bends sharply like a horseshoe in this section, so it makes everything accessible by foot traffic. It’s a 3 minute walk up the trail to the dam, put in and float 30-45 minutes (depending on water level), then a 5-10 minute walk back to the mill carrying your tube. There is also the longer Forks Run, which last 3-4 hours (~2.5 river miles), and costs $15. For this, we shuttle you up the river in a vehicle, and you float back to the top of the dam, then 3 minutes walking back to the mill. Most weekends, tubing starts at 11 am and the last Forks Shuttle is around 3 pm, with the Fun Run staying open till around 5. Also, with enough heads up, we can sometimes arrange for trips during the week. Our tubes are required for each person floating for insurance and liability reasons, but you are welcome to bring your own cooler tubes to carry drinks and snacks. Technically, alcohol is not permitted on the river, but what is in your cooler is your business. Either way, please bring ALL trash out with you! Water shoes are recommended, and we have life jackets on request. Most of our tubes come with bottoms and back rests, but a few are open to the water. Most weekends, reservations are not required, but it does help tremendously if we know when you want to come and how many in your group.
