The property was beyond expectations! Beautiful views, peaceful & quiet. We stayed at the site to the right. Our dogs enjoyed watching the farm animals and running through the fields. Matt checked in on us on our second day which we appreciated. Privacy without feeling secluded. We highly recommended Matthew’s Land!

This was a great site! Beautiful views and clear open spaces for plenty of sun during the day and plenty of stars at night. The firepit was nicely built and there was plenty of space to set up. Awesome little hike down to the stream. Highly recommend this site! The dogs seemed to approve too lol

It was a really beautiful property and the host was very nice. There were two cleared areas to camp with fire pits and the one we had (there was already another group at the other site) was not level, there was no picnic table, and long grass around the fire pit. I get this is primitive camping, but it would have been nice to know so we could have brought our own table. We didn’t have the means to carry a picnic table the distance from the other site. The creek was very nice, but we didn’t feel comfortable bringing our car down there without 4WD and there was very long grass and no fire pit to camp. It was an easy walk down there though to explore. Phenomenal views and stars at night, just wish the listing said it wasn’t a level spot and there was no table so we were prepared better

I got to the site after dark and it was a little difficult finding it (Apple Maps did not help) but luckily Matthew did leave helpful directions! Even at night you have an amazing view of stars and mountains! It was one of the prettiest places I’ve camped. I hope I can come back one day!

Beautiful views and a quiet relaxing area. Could be a little tight for camper trailers turning in by the trees? And our spot took a little xtra to level up our rig. But a big thanks to the owners for opening up their farm for camping.

We enjoyed “glamping” on Matt and Kayla’s land. The views are spectacular and watching the farm animals added an element of fun. It was a great way to celebrate our anniversary. Very peaceful and relaxing.
Directions were clear and we also did some of the things Matt suggested: Buffalo Mountain Trail, the Cafe, and a little ride on the BRP.
Thank you for sharing this slice of heaven with us! Hope to return soon.

Primitive Farm was beautiful! Our family loved the views and animals. We felt like we had a lot of privacy and quiet, which was exactly what we were looking for during our quick spring getaway. The directions were very clear as well. We especially loved listening to the whippoorwills calling in the evening!

I camped with my partner and dog on the top of the ridge. A great escape to the mountains for the weekend. We enjoyed walking down to the creek to wade, watching the sunset and sunrise. Matthew recommended the Crossroads cafe which was great.

Matt's property is a GEM. He was easy to communicate with and very nice to talk too. Enjoyed the privacy and beauty of all his land had to offer. The creek at the bottom of the ridge was beautiful and all the animals were a joy to be around. Will 100% recommend to anyone wanting a nice getaway. Thank you !

Directions were well written. The land was great and open. There was a nice stream nearby. I met Matt when arriving and he was very nice and available if needed. It was a fun place to stay a few days and I would recommend this place to others.

We stayed for 2 nights in our 35ft converted skoolie and enjoyed every second. From watching the sheep come and graze in the top pasture in the evening, to long walks down to the creek area with our dogs to being sung awake by the whippoorwill we really enjoyed our stay.
The camping spot has beautiful views, and is in the middle of the upper fields, there is no shade, which was fine for us. We thank the family for opening their beautiful farm to us.

This is a beautiful piece of land with scenic views of the Blueridge Mountains, hilly farms, and crystal clear creeks. Camping on the top of the farm's ridge allows visitors to view the farms chickens, sheep, turkey's, and pigs. The children were able to play catch and soccer on the field, while our dog was able to roam free throughout the property. The creek is clear and cold with several species of fish and crawfish. Fly fishing was ideal with ankle deep waters and access to several knee deep pools and runs both up and down creek. The creek is stocked throughout the winter with rainbow and brown trout to supplement the native brook trout.

Primitive Farms is highly recommended! The owners were very friendly and helped me gain an appreciation of the area. You can walk around the farm and meet the animals, which was a lot of fun. I camped up on the ridge where the view was spectacular, though there are several spots to choose from. You can take a trail down to the creek, which is very peaceful. I enjoyed wading and looking for crawdads but there were some impressive trout in there, too. I look forward to going back when it's less cloudy to do some stargazing and explore some more. Thanks you guys!

Great time at Matt’s farm with my wife, 2.5 yr old daughter and dog.
Super easy to navigate your way to wide open, pick your own spot camping.
Messaged Matt on the way in and told him I wanted to buy two dozen eggs and he brought them up to us while we were setting up. Highly recommend getting some freshly laid eggs for your trip.
Really big property and there were two other groups camping on property too but didn’t even notice them because there’s so much space.
Walked down to the creek and it was perfect temp for a September dip.
Lots of options for swimming, hiking and enjoying the outdoors nearby too.
Stopped at Matt’s cafe - primitive cafe - about a 30 minute drive through pretty scenery and the food and coffee is as good as all the reviews say. Shockingly good. Pumpkin bread, pumpkin latte and the turkey sandwich and black coffee - all SUPER good.
I’ll definetly be back. Stay at least two nights if you can so you get to really enjoy the area.
Also kid got to check out the farms animals.
Awesome weekend - really appreciate the hospitality.
