She does all the woodworking, using sustainable practices, with locally-sourced wood, and her best friend Kathy does the fabric end of things. Reconnect with nature in our pet friendly rustic cabin on 35 wooded acres with two walking trails (Blue trail 3/4 mile loop and Yellow trail 1 mile loop), 5 acre meadow and large spring fed pond with bass, sunfish and trout. The cabin is at 2600 ft. elevation but still can be warmer in summer months. It cools down to the mid 60’s to low 70’s most summer nights so we don’t have AC there. We do have WiFi.
Just five miles off the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway and in the heart of the Blue Ridge Wine Region. We’re mid-way to the town of Floyd from Roanoke, and an easy 40 miles to Tech.

This is a safe, beautiful area to visit nearby Floyd, a nearby kayak rental shuttle service, breweries, a meadery 2 miles away, and many other unique finds. Reconnect with nature in our pet friendly rustic cabin on 35 wooded acres with two walking trails (Blue trail 3/4 mile loop and Yellow trail 1 mile loop), 5 acre meadow and large spring fed pond with bass, sunfish and trout. Enjoy walks, fishing, abundant wildlife and night star-gazing with virtually no light pollution.
Cabin features great room with fireplace and wood stove, dining room, kitchen, downstairs bathroom, and two bedrooms. Downstairs you will find a bathroom, bedroom with a queen bed. Upstairs you’ll find one bedroom with a full bed and loft area with a twin bunk. It will sleep six comfortably, and linens are provided. Large back deck with gas grill and rocking chairs which overlook the meadow and it’s frequent furry and feathered visitors and mirrored pond. Bring marshmallows for the fire pit near the cabin.
The cabin is at 2600 ft. elevation but still can be warmer in summer months. It cools down to the mid 60’s to low 70’s most summer nights so we don’t have AC there. We do have WiFi.

What a wonderful stay at Christine’s treehouse! She has truly thought of everything to make this the perfectly cozy and relaxing stay. It has everything you need. The place is beautifully decorated and I felt like I was in a cozy artist’s studio. Even though the nights during our stay were cold, we were very warm and comfortable inside the treehouse with the heaters doing a great job. The views of the river from the treehouse is gorgeous and being able to open both garage doors to let the fresh air in really merged the outside freshness with the indoor relaxation. Christine’s property is also super cool! She has miles of hiking trails available and has stand up paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes available to use! There were even doggie life jackets! The treehouse is also only 45 minutes from Winston-Salem and the perfect weekend getaway. This is a stay we’d absolutely love to do again! (Also, make sure to follow the directions and NOT plug the treehouse address into Google Maps because that may lead you somewhere quite different).

I stayed at The Love Shack this weekend and had a wonderful experience. Wendy was a wonderful host—thoughtful, welcoming, and clearly dedicated to creating a beautiful space for her guests. She even cleared the leaves off the trail before I arrived, which made for such a lovely walk through the woods. I spotted a deer along the way which was nice.
The A-frame shelter was cozy and warm. I enjoyed the most relaxing nap in the hammock. I highly recommend!
