Arcadia is the name we gave to our 83-acre mountainside retreat center for Earth-Based Spirituality. It’s nestled on the south-eastern slope of 4000-foot Mount Pleasant in Central Virginia, convenient to I81. (Note, there is a town called Arcadia off I81, but that is not us. Not to confuse.) We have a mountain creek with waterfalls, towering Beech and Sycamore trees, Witch Hazels leaning over the water, trout, crayfish, snakes, salamanders, and all the rest. We have about 2000 feet of the vertical mountainside with trails to explore. (But the stage and most of the camping is down closer to creek-level.) There are more sites higher up the mountain if you like more isolated camping. More of a trek to the bathrooms/showers/freshwater. We have one of the finest private stages on the East Coast with a top-notch sound system and a natural amphitheater which is like a single pie wedge of a Stadium that has regular live performances throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Our yurt is regularly booked as a unique glamping experience. There are chickens, ducks, turkeys, and guinea fowl free-roaming. Two dogs, nine cats, and several humans are blessed to call this home.

Beginner mountain camping!
It was such a beautiful site! Fran was so wonderful and provided fire wood apron arrival. The showers and toilets are clean!

Up the hill - Crows Nest
Regardless of there being loggers and my original site being essentially unusable due to their work (the firepit was destroyed), Fran was very very accommodating and made sure I found a spot that I enjoyed! I had multiple visitors at my site after I went to bed, notably two fawns! I heard their mother scolding them for getting too close with grunts and foot stomping. My dog let out a quite "woof", and they left, but how cool is that? The site I was on, Upper Balcony was perfect for a few days away from the hustle and bustle.

Over hang - Lower Balcony
Had a great time! Location pretty secluded while also being close to the restroom building. Very beautiful setting. Had just enough room for our oversized tent. Will note that IF you are taking a vehicle up to the spot, not much of a turn around. Would deff be back at this spot!

Spring side - East Village
We loved tent camping at Arcadia sanctuary. It was the perfect amount of privacy and space that we needed. Appreciate all the extra amenities available. Fran was a great host and we will definitely camp here again in the future.

Beautiful space with easy check in and directions. Breakfast on the deck in the morning is ideal. Fran was very kind and friendly. Highly recommend!

Red yurt in beautiful setting
Try the breakfast
My favorite thing was Fran's breakfast!! Wow she can cook! I highly recommend getting her breakfast at least once, although we enjoyed it twice!! It was a nice getaway from the huddle and business of life! It rained and was very windy during our stay and you couldn't even tell in the yurt! It's sturdy and we were warm! We just enjoyed listening to the wind! There were a few bugs but to be expected with camping! The bed was very comfy and clean! We enjoyed MRE's (meal ready to eat) during our stay and was able to heat the water by using the grill with the pot provided! The bathrooms and showers were nice to have but a bit far if you need to go at night like me! The property was beautiful and peaceful! We'd recommend the stay for a glamping experience!
