This was a 55-acre farm, split in half to accommodate a bypass through Charlottesville, so the previous owners had to give up half the land, and actually moved the house down to the other half of the property! They had to build a land bridge to get to the new home site, so they turned the bridge into a dam and created a beautiful large swimming pond, complete with beach and gazebo. My wife Stephanie and I bought the property in early 2017 and have turned it into a private horse farm, adding pastures, a riding ring, and 6-stall barn. There are ~21 horses who live on the property.
The property is unique in that you can hardly see another house from anywhere on the property and yet we are only 2 miles from
Barracks Rd. Shopping Center, and 4 miles from the University of Virginia.

Crooked Mountain is a family and Veteran-owned farm, campground, camp store, and small event venue located just ½ mile off the Blue Ridge Parkway at Mile Marker 159 near Floyd, Virginia.
We designed Crooked Mountain to be a unique basecamp for travelers exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains, especially those traveling by van, car, motorcycle, bicycle, or with small RVs. With easy access from the Parkway and scenic mountain roads nearby, it’s a great stop for road trippers, vanlifers, and anyone on two wheels exploring Southwest Virginia.
The campground currently offers 15 campsites across the farm:
• 7 sites on Pine Creek (Sites 1 & 12 have electric)
• 5 field campsites with open views of the surrounding hills
• 3 field sites with electric near the pond (Sites 13–15)
Electric sites provide 30/20 amp power only. There are no water or sewer hookups at campsites.
Guests can enjoy the natural setting of the property and access our hiking trail, fishing pond (catch n release for a fee) and other amenities on the farm while staying here.
Our camp store offers tourism information about Floyd and the surrounding area (including local motorcycle/bicycle maps and routes, along with artisan goods, camping essentials (things you may have forgotten), snacks, drinks, coffee, ice, firewood and more.
During the summer months we also open our fields for a You-Pick flower experience, where guests can purchase a container and create their own bouquet. Flower season typically runs July through September.
Crooked Mountain is located along The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail, and the town of Floyd is just 4 miles away, offering live music, local restaurants, breweries, galleries, and the famous Friday Night Jamboree at the Floyd Country Store.

Situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and bordering the Jefferson National Forest, Thunder BRidge has scenic, large, private tent sites and cabins in the woods for those who want to experience camping at its finest. Many of the sites border Elk Creek. Our RV sites are large, flat and at the edge of the forest in a well kept open green space.
Our 100 acres was originally a camp built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the "30s and early '40s, then a boys' juvenile detention center and Big Brothers'/Big Sisters' camp, which closed in 2009. The tent sites and cabins are in the forest, away from the buildings out front, but you're free to walk around and check out the historic site. Most of the buildings out front are artist studios (currently for 16 artists). We like to share the camp with others and watch it come back to life.
All within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil's Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. We have river access 2 miles up the road if you'd like to fish or put your kayak or canoe in. Truly, there is something nearby for everyone. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of things to see and do. If you are a star gazer you won't be disappointed by our dark sky.
We want to share our property with those who want to stay for more than one night, so we do not accept inquiries of single night stays. We also don't offer longterm rentals as we focus on short term camping.

Welcome to our small Farm, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Madison County, Virginia. Located just minutes from Shenandoah National Park, we offer intimate nature-inspired cottages and camping on our 120-acre working farm. Enjoy an evening under the stars with fireflies and a campfire after a long day hike, fly fishing on one of our beautiful trout steams or touring the local vineyards and breweries.
We currently offer one cottage, glamping and a few campsites for our guests. Our campsites are all private, located acres apart with tables, chairs, firepits, some elevated sleeping areas, some hammock spots and a few with a roof. Three of our spots require walking away from your vehicle, short distances. We have four drive-in sites that will accommodate two or three vehicles. We do not allow RVs or trailers on our main farm due to our narrow mountain driveway. Wisteria Camp has a private driveway, it can accommodate small RV/Trailers. Camper vans are welcome at the main farm!
Our farm store includes our Animal Welfare Approved products such as Eggs, Chicken, Beef, Pork, Lamb and Dairy, as well as produce, jams, coffee and other items from our local community. We offer camping essentials, local art, bike rentals, farm experiences and tours.
The property has miles of trails along mountain spring-fed streams, a small pond and access to three private acres on the Robinson River, a stocked Trout stream, just 2 miles down the road. Our property is centrally located to White Oak Canyon (20 minutes) and Old Rag Mountain (10 minutes) trailheads in the Shenandoah National Park as well as many vineyards and breweries.

There is a 1 1/2 acre pond stocked with Catfish, Bass, Crappies, Brim and Shell Cracker. Also there are two smaller ponds with minnows and one is home to Tucker the Turtle 🐢 .
We have several trails on the property to walk as well. You are welcome to 🐠 fish BUT FISHING IS CATCH AND RELEASE PLEASE. Each site will have a fire ring available and a picnic table. If you need anything else please let me know.
We are AUTISM Friendly 💙,so if you have a camper that needs a little more encouragement about camping or other accommodations please let your host know. You are welcomed to bring your furry family members, bikes and kayaks. There is no swimming in the pond. It was built for fishing so it’s not safe to swim due to structures under the water for the fish.
We are only 30 minutes from Carter’s Mountain, Monticello and Jefferson Winery’s. Thistle Gate Winery is only 5 minutes away and 20 minutes to Scottsville were you can enjoy the James River. UVA sports complex is only 30 minutes away and you’re able to go the back way in to skip the gridlock of the traffic.

My parents both grew up on the southside of Chicago - where having a tree in your yard meant that you had "made it". They decided to use the land to grow Christmas trees. This did not last long :) but the saplings my dad planted by hand are still here & maybe 70' tall!
Then my husband & I bought The Farm in 2017 for the 2nd forty years of our life & my parents built their little house right here. My husband and I immediately knew that our dream was to grow a different kind of "tree", so in 2019 we were among the first group to receive our license to grow hemp. We are passionate about both the hemp and cannabis plants!
In 2020 when it finally became legal to grow cannabis, we immediately added that to our garden as well and 2nd 40 to 420 was born, or shall I say planted. The Guinea farm is 18 acres of feild and forest on the rural middle pennensula. Only 1 mile from 2 separate secluded beaches and a boat launch. There is verly little traffic or light polution here, nature is at your fingertips.

There are 3 sites spaced out across the 18 acres set apart for privacy. Wisteria is a primative site closer to the entrance gate. Trilogy is a suspended tree tent in the pines 700' beyond that and seperated by dense forest. Stargazer Tiny cabin is an offgrid rustic camping cabin on the back side of the property.
Each site is surronded by several acres of forest and close to the edge of a large feild. There are romaing guinea fowl that may come make a very loud appearance as they canvas the property eating bugs. Deer, Turkeys, Bald Eagles, foxes, and other wildlife are common guests also. Mid-summer is what I call frog season, Tree frogs are abundant and provide a wonderful soundtrack.
There are free to use bicycles, an axe throwing board, and cornhole boards available.
4 miles from shopping and dining in Mathews Virginia, 15 miles to Gwynn Island. Gwynn's Island is an island located in the Chesapeake Bay off of Virginia's Middle Peninsula. The island is located in the northeast part of Mathews County, south of the mouth of the Piankatank River. It is connected to the rest of the county by a swing bridge over Milford Haven.

This property was once a 300 acre plus tobacco farm. We are located within two miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Appalachian trail via a gated, public, forest road. Hikers should park at their campsite and walk up.
The original log cabin was built in the 1850s and now serves as our dining room.
The front portion of the house was completed in April of 1861 and the back in the early 1900s.
We have plans to eventually turn it into a working farm which produces tinctures, salves and extracts of various native plants.

From my farm there is a free ferry in Scotland where the ferry departs to Williamsburg just 30 minutes. At my farm I have 5 sites for tent/camping so it’s spaced appropriately apart I have 2 Rv sites totally away for their privacy and a new mini house also properly spaced away. All have a clean picnic table and a fire pit. 100 feet away you’ll find that clean bathroom, shower and a wash station for hygiene. You’ll see the love I put into this and because I love it and my prior guests love it, which means it may be right for you also. In the town of Wakefield you’ll find gas stations, dollar stores, a Value food market and if you want (to go) food we have that also. Plus it’s home to The Virginia Diner. Amenities include toilet access, a shower, trash disposal, picnic tables, and potable water. Pets are allowed, as are campfires.

This was a 55-acre farm, split in half to accommodate a bypass through Charlottesville, so the previous owners had to give up half the land, and actually moved the house down to the other half of the property! They had to build a land bridge to get to the new home site, so they turned the bridge into a dam and created a beautiful large swimming pond, complete with beach and gazebo. We designed Crooked Mountain to be a unique basecamp for travelers exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains, especially those traveling by van, car, motorcycle, bicycle, or with small RVs. With easy access from the Parkway and scenic mountain roads nearby, it’s a great stop for road trippers, vanlifers, and anyone on two wheels exploring Southwest Virginia.
The campground currently offers 15 campsites across the farm:
• 7 sites on Pine Creek (Sites 1 & 12 have electric)
• 5 field campsites with open views of the surrounding hills
• 3 field sites with electric near the pond (Sites 13–15)
Electric sites provide 30/20 amp power only. There are no water or sewer hookups at campsites.
Guests can enjoy the natural setting of the property and access our hiking trail, fishing pond (catch n release for a fee) and other amenities on the farm while staying here.
Our camp store offers tourism information about Floyd and the surrounding area (including local motorcycle/bicycle maps and routes, along with artisan goods, camping essentials (things you may have forgotten), snacks, drinks, coffee, ice, firewood and more.
During the summer months we also open our fields for a You-Pick flower experience, where guests can purchase a container and create their own bouquet. Flower season typically runs July through September.

Situated at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and bordering the Jefferson National Forest, Thunder BRidge has scenic, large, private tent sites and cabins in the woods for those who want to experience camping at its finest. Our 100 acres was originally a camp built by the Civilian Conservation Corp in the "30s and early '40s, then a boys' juvenile detention center and Big Brothers'/Big Sisters' camp, which closed in 2009. The tent sites and cabins are in the forest, away from the buildings out front, but you're free to walk around and check out the historic site. Most of the buildings out front are artist studios (currently for 16 artists). We like to share the camp with others and watch it come back to life.
All within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil's Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. We have river access 2 miles up the road if you'd like to fish or put your kayak or canoe in. Truly, there is something nearby for everyone. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of things to see and do. If you are a star gazer you won't be disappointed by our dark sky.
We want to share our property with those who want to stay for more than one night, so we do not accept inquiries of single night stays. We also don't offer longterm rentals as we focus on short term camping.

Camper vans are welcome at the main farm!
Our farm store includes our Animal Welfare Approved products such as Eggs, Chicken, Beef, Pork, Lamb and Dairy, as well as produce, jams, coffee and other items from our local community. We offer camping essentials, local art, bike rentals, farm experiences and tours.
The property has miles of trails along mountain spring-fed streams, a small pond and access to three private acres on the Robinson River, a stocked Trout stream, just 2 miles down the road. Our property is centrally located to White Oak Canyon (20 minutes) and Old Rag Mountain (10 minutes) trailheads in the Shenandoah National Park as well as many vineyards and breweries.

Each site is surronded by several acres of forest and close to the edge of a large feild. There are romaing guinea fowl that may come make a very loud appearance as they canvas the property eating bugs. Deer, Turkeys, Bald Eagles, foxes, and other wildlife are common guests also. Mid-summer is what I call frog season, Tree frogs are abundant and provide a wonderful soundtrack.
There are free to use bicycles, an axe throwing board, and cornhole boards available.

This property was once a 300 acre plus tobacco farm. We are located within two miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Appalachian trail via a gated, public, forest road. Hikers should park at their campsite and walk up.
The original log cabin was built in the 1850s and now serves as our dining room.
The front portion of the house was completed in April of 1861 and the back in the early 1900s.
We have plans to eventually turn it into a working farm which produces tinctures, salves and extracts of various native plants.

Our yoga and mediation studio with its gorgeous smooth wood floors offers serenity, a space to sit, stretch, or practice yoga.Galleywinter is a perfect place for a quiet getaway, great hiking trails just 4 miles away - guests have easy access to Shenandoah National Forest, George Washington National Forest, Skyline Drive, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Appalachian Trail. The Blue Ridge Tunnel is also a famous, historic site just minutes away. We are nearby many local breweries, restaurants, good grocery stores, art & antique shops. Great for folks wanting a quiet and restorative getaway.Our check-in window is between 3:00- 7:00, if you need to check in later message us and we'll try to accommodate. If it is significantly later, you can purchase this as an extra. We do observe quiet hours after 9:00 pm to ensure peace and quiet for everyone on the property.

Peace and quiet equals “Solitude at my farm. I’m just like you. I want to camp at a quiet place in the country where it’s plenty of acres and no houses to look at and a clean bathroom and shower. Well it’s here. I’m Located in Wakefield Virginia. If you’re traveling to Virginia Beach I’m one hour away. From my farm there is a free ferry in Scotland where the ferry departs to Williamsburg just 30 minutes. At my farm I have 5 sites for tent/camping so it’s spaced appropriately apart I have 2 Rv sites totally away for their privacy and a new mini house also properly spaced away. All have a clean picnic table and a fire pit. 100 feet away you’ll find that clean bathroom, shower and a wash station for hygiene. You’ll see the love I put into this and because I love it and my prior guests love it, which means it may be right for you also. In the town of Wakefield you’ll find gas stations, dollar stores, a Value food market and if you want (to go) food we have that also. Plus it’s home to The Virginia Diner. Amenities include toilet access, a shower, trash disposal, picnic tables, and potable water. Pets are allowed, as are campfires.

We are just 5 min from River Hill Distillery, 7 min drive to Luray Caverns. 20 min drive to Shenandoah National Park…lots of hiking, fishing, boating, horseback riding, and civil war museums in the area.
I purchased this property in 2013 ---my Uncle Abe Kibler and Aunt Lizzie Good Kibler owned and operated a tavern across the road for years and rented river lots to their guests---in time this 265 acre spread was sold and divided to many. I am grateful to have a little piece of the Rock Tavern History back in the family. I have so many fond memories of floating the river with my family while growing up and I love sharing this experience with others while offering families the opportunity to create lasting memories!

Weekend Trip to 12 Gates Farms
We stayed two nights in the treehouse while in the area for an event. We didn’t get to take full advantage of the property since we left in the mornings and arrived after dark both days, but enjoyed the time we spent there! We planned to camp at first, but the treehouse seemed like a better bet since the temperatures were cool in mid-April. It was at least ten degrees warmer inside than outside, which was perfect (so no need to even turn the heat on during our stay.) The mattress and bedding were comfortable and cozy. Everything was very quiet and peaceful. Roni was quick to answer questions and was very friendly and helpful. Neat little place and would definitely return!

Swedish Lilac is a great site with even better camp hosts! It’s well maintained, quiet, and has all the modern conveniences like full bathrooms with showers, power hookups, and wifi if you’re so inclined. Fritz and Valerie will take care of anything you may need, and are just wonderful people. Highly recommend for a weekend away!

Spacious sites, clean bathhouse, small dog run and good WiFi. We stayed in a riverfront site that you park parallel to the river. Water and 30 amp electric is at rear of site in this parking configuration. Only needed minimal leveling, but can see major leveling if you back in towards river as the land slopes up to river bank flood rocks. We thoroughly enjoyed our yearly Masters ⛳️ in the mountains weekend. The only con is the dump station is at the entrance on a severe slope on the driver’s side as you enter. If your tanks outlets aren’t at the front of the tanks you will have issues. Worked out fine for our 2500RL. Looking forward to a return trip when the trees are full of leaves😊

This is a mostly quiet (occasional trains rumble nearby, but not loud in our trailer), secluded location. We had electric and water for our overnight stay. Site was long enough and level enough that we didn’t need to unhook our truck. Only 3 rigs the night we stayed. Bathrooms were clean, and hosts are friendly and helpful.

The Wisteria Treehouse is a magical place. Both adults and children loved it. Not only is it super cool to camp in a treehouse but it's also beautifully built too. The upper treehouse looks like a ships hold with portholes and everything
The site had everything we needed and the proximity to the beach was great. Ian was super helpful and brought us a propane tank when we ran out of gas for the camp stove. Thanks for the great stay!

We had a lovely stay at Swedish Lilac Campground. It was so peaceful and quiet. We camped right next to the river - the kids loved playing in it and we loved the peaceful sound of the flowing water. The shower and bathrooms were nice and clean! And the owners were very friendly and gave us great recommendations of things to do! We hope to go back again!!

Absolutely wonderful scenic views and it's nice to see all the show horses while walking to the shower and toilet. Once I found my campsite and got settled in at site 3 (I was conveniently upgraded from site 6 which is for tents since I was the only one) it was really accommodating and everyone was so nice. I spoke to Wendy who was feeding the horses. I took my girlfriend out on the canoe and we just talked it was really pleasant. There's a nice little overlook at the pond to climb up and just have a conversation. Honestly felt like something out of a book and will definitely come back.

We had a great tent spot right by the pond! Beautiful view from our campsite. The campsites are a good size and spread out very well so you are night right up on your neighbor. We had a very quiet and peaceful stay. Michelle is a wonderful host. Very accommodating and came by to check on us periodically during our stay. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back!

The A-frame by the waterfalls was the perfect oasis I could ask for. The cabin was full of supplies, and the land was full of places to explore. Beau came to greet me, and he was very kind and helpful. Can’t wait to stay again next spring break!

I didn’t really know what to expect from Thunder BRidge but this place is awesome! We chose the primitive cabin. But you can’t go wrong with anything here (cabin or camping) Having the pavilion and bath house nearby to use was helpful so you can either fully ‘rough it’ or have some level of home comforts. There’s plenty of room to run around in open spaces also a cool old school obstacle course. Cannot recommend this place enough! Adam is super helpful throughout your stay if you need anything! Need camping or cabins in the Natural Bridge area, look no further than Thunder BRidge!

Right on the river, great views of the Shenandoah to wake up to. Showers were nice and warm, the sulphuric smell was as mentioned in the description. Very clean camp, well maintained. 100% coming back again.
