Royalton Bed and Breakfast

4 sites · Lodging133 acres · Royalton, VT
The property has been in the family since before the town of Royalton was founded. In 1780, Garner Rix was 13 years old. He was captured in the Royalton Raid and taken to Montreal where he was sold to a woman who kept him safe for a year until it was safe for him to walk home, by himself, at age 14, and when he got back home the town gave him the land that I live on. Garner Rix was my great, great, great, great grandfather.

Maple Rock Hollow

2 sites · Lodging30 acres · Belvidere Center, VT
Maple Rock Hollow Maple Rock Hollow is the perfect get away location, set on 30 acres at the base of Laraway Mountain in Belvidere, Vermont; conveniently located on a dirt road off of route 109. We have a dirt driveway and while the parking area terrain is mostly flat, it may be a little unsteady for folks with gait issues. Both our road and driveway may become quite muddy especially during “mud season”, generally in the spring. Nestled at the bottom of Laraway Mountain, Maple Rock Hollow provides a tranquil place to stay while providing easy access to a myriad of outdoor activities. Enjoy Vermont’s world-class skiing; Smuggler’s Notch (20 minutes), Jay Peak (30 minutes) and Stowe (40 minutes) are all nearby! The property is just a short ride to the Vermont Long Trail and the Lamoille County Rail trail. It is surrounded by opportunities for skiing, other winter activities, hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, boating, fishing, numerous watering holes, zip lining, leaf peeping in season, exploring Vermont’s many covered bridges, access to nearby VAST and VASA trails, and more! Unwind from your day of adventure by enjoying the wooded setting by making smores at the fire pit under the starry sky and relax surrounded by nature, while sipping your drink of choice; perhaps a beer from one of the many local breweries Please be aware that given our rural location, our cell phone coverage is weak. Six miles west there is more reliable cell phone access. Future plans include reliable internet access. We strongly recommend you download a map of Vermont prior to your stay to ensure that you are able to find your way. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you would like additional information, recommendations, directions, etc. If you plan to use the fire pit during your stay, make sure to pick up some firewood when you stop for groceries at one of the area markets. We provide one bundle per reservation. Other things to note: Our property is SMOKE FREE - no smoking is permitted anywhere on the property. This includes Marijuana, vaping and edibles. Illegal drug use is prohibited at all times. Currently, we cannot accommodate pets. Thank you for your understanding. Hosting parties or events is not permitted at any time. We have three friendly dogs; Kai, Morgan and Gracie. Pond: Please do not attempt to enter or swim in the pond or walk on it when it appears to be frozen. Do feel free to enjoy the bench near the pond while taking in the peaceful mountainside location. Wild Animals: Please note that we live in nature. Our property is home to a variety of wild animals, including, but not limited to deer, turkey, fox, coyote and bear. Please do not approach any wild animals on the property or attempt to feed them. Westmore Forest Cabin

1 site · Lodging14 acres · Westmore , VT
After driving the shoreline road of Lake Willoughby, the road to access the land is a steady climb to ..... feet.  Stop and look behind you and you'll see the Western view of successive mountain ridges and Lake Willoughby.  The immediate land and surround has been in the Cole family for generations and we are honored to be the next stewards of this parcel.  We look forward to sharing the beauty of this area and this space with you.  Learn more about this land:The cabin is located 3 miles and 1,700 feet up from Lake Willoughby in the Town of Westmore. We invite you to stay! Looking behind as you drive up Coles Mountain to the land, you see views of Lake Willoughby and rolling mountains heading out to the horizon in the west.  Majestic.  Once you have traveled 3 miles and gone up 1,700 feet from Lake Willoughby, you cross a land bridge over a stream and enter a private clearing ringed with tress and forest.  This is an old orchard in the forest with an off-grid cabin.  Cozy surroundings.  Though you may hear others on surrounding properties, you don't see them.   Cross another stream and the land goes back another 10 acres into deep forest.  Magical.Outdoor activities throughout the area include hiking, skiing and mountain biking at Burke Mountain, Kingdom Trails Association, Craftsbury Outdoor Center and local Vermont State Parks, as well as kayaking, swimming, and fishing on Lake Willoughby.  Watch the sunset at Sentinel Rock.  As noted on the Vermont Department of Health's website, "Vermont has reached Step 4 of the Vermont Forward Plan. Except for international travel, travel no longer requires testing or quarantine. Masks are still required on public transportation, including school buses. CDC recommends delaying travel until you are fully vaccinated because travel increases your chance of getting and spreading COVID-19."

North of Eden Woods

5 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents150 acres · Lowell, VT
Formerly a sheep farm in the early 20th century, North of Eden Woods was purchased by the current owners in 1999 as an undeveloped 150+ acre woodlot to create a personal Thoreau-at-Walden living experience. In the beginning, Ted lived in an converted school bus with his two dogs as he worked to build a log house from scratch. In the spring of 2000, a small cabin (Meadow-View Off-Grid Vermont Cabin) was built and lived in for 2 years while the main off-grid log home was built. Trees were dropped, bark was peeled, mortar was mixed, and logs were stacked up in the shape of a house that is now our home. In 2005, Liza joined the dream and we continue to improve our sustainable lifestyle, learn about our surroundings, and raise our 3 kids, three dogs and one goldfish. We manage the forest for wildlife, aesthetic purposes and renewable resources such as firewood, timber, aquaculture, and maple syrup production. Our property is the living document that is the book of our life. ...We are constantly editing, adding to, and improving our story.

Goldilocks Cabin

1 site · Lodging4 acres · Stowe, VT
I am an interior designer, who realized I could use my particular talents to create the kind of unique vacation rental that I myself am always seeking. In this new world of on-line vacation rentals and professionally managed properties, the vacation rental industry has become commoditized, with one home just like the other, for a hotel-like experience. Goldilocks cabin is the cure for this predictability—without giving up any of the comfort you would find at a fine hotel. Learn more about this land:Goldilocks Cabins is for those seeking rustic luxury. No roughing it here. The cabin has a full bath, kitchen with all conveniences, one bedroom with queen bed, sleeping loft with full bed, and a pull out sofa in the living room. There is central heat and a wood stove in the winter. A/C units in the summer. The cabin has two decks, a gas bbq grill, and a fire pit. Cabin is on four wooded acres and is on Stowe Hollow Road, a residential neighborhood of widely spaced homes, and about 25 yards off the road. So if you are looking for a secluded cabin in the woods Goldilocks might not be for you. If however you are looking for a conveniently located well appointed cabin, your are at the right place. Goldilocks is a mile from Main Street in Stowe, and 8 miles to Mt. Mansfield and skiing. Hiking, mountain biking, cross country skiing, sledding, and swimming holes all a few minute drive from the cabin.
