We have a beautiful Hammock Garden free for guests to kick back and relax. Texoma Water Taxi is a text away to give guests a ride anywhere on the lake including restaurants. Rock-N A Ranch is roughly 20 minutes away and offers horseback riding. The Cabins and Campsites are within walking distance from each other but far enough away to create that illusion of privacy. We do have a neighborhood close by but you can’t see or hear them due to the woods.  In my travels, I try to bring back something I’ve seen or learned to help improve the guest experience and environment. You’ll notice little touches of Asia, Mexico, and even Hill Country Texas! We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and treat every guest like family. We’re always a text away! You’ll see us out and about on our golf carts. If you ever need anything just holler (: Check-in time is at 3 pm. Welcome to Texas Safari Camp Come escape to a heavily wooded 31 acre pristine wildlife habitat. Only one hour east of Dallas but it feels like another world. At the end of a one lane rock road- this is a very secluded property. It is perfect for tent camping groups and individuals, has a very positive vibe and is more peaceful than most state parks. It adjoins a 950 acre wildlife park with 1200 exotic animals. Many can be seen from the road or you can pay to drive through and feed the animals. Your host is Randall Oliver. He has been organizing group campouts for years and enjoys hosting, bringing people together and inspiring a love of nature, camping and paddling. Everyone is welcome and campers are treated like family. He can teach your kids to kayak and build a camp fire. You can fish for largemouth bass, cat, crappy and bluegill in the two ponds and swim, paddle kayaks and paddle boards, hike the jungle trail and socialize around the campfires. There are no designated campsites. You can camp anywhere except between the green building and the front pond. No vehicles are allowed back on the property. Off road wagons are provided to help haul your gear. Front pond camping areas are 30-100 yards from parking area. The rear pond is more secluded but farther from the parking and outhouse. There are four fire pits around the front pond and one next to the rear pond. The tiny handcrafted Hummingbird Tree House is perched on an elevated deck overlooking the front pond. and features a queen bed, a bed in the loft for two small kids, electricity, lights, fan, hummingbird stained glass windows, screened operable windows and a screened, operable porthole window in the kids loft. The deck has lights, tables and chairs and outdoor table and chairs and a thatch covered umbrella. There is no heat or AC in the tree house. You must bring your own sleeping bags, blankets and pillows. No food, smoking or pets allowed in the tree house. There is a rustic outhouse with a modern composting toilet, sink, faucet, lights, soap, etc. and a nearby cold water outdoor shower (no privacy), sink, counter and faucet. Use of firepit and grill, kayaks and paddleboards, rod & reels, hammocks, swinging chair and tire swing is included. Firewood can be purchased $1 per stick

When the ground is muddy, Brookside, RiverRock, and Richardson Creek campsites require a 4-wheel drive and have alternate routes to get to them. Ancient Oaks is an all-weather site. You can enjoy hiking and swimming in Richardson Creek when water levels permit. Canoeing from Bakers Crossing put-in which is only 3 miles away. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are-- 1. Below the Green Cabin 2. If you prefer glamping, enjoy our 2 remodeled vintage RVs, sharing outdoor shower. The grounds are beautiful and fit for campsites w/electricity, and our latest addition, Treetop Porch Tent. Picnic tables and fire pits are placed on each site for our guest’s outdoor enjoyment. This is the perfect place to restore your soul. If you are a free spirit who loves nature, quirky, lakelife, stars, trees, flowers, luscious foliage, pretty much everything about the outdoors and being in a tranquil country setting, this is your vacation and time-out place. Relax in a hammock, play a friendly game of croquet, or stargaze from the Crow’s Nest. Sip on drinks, mushroom coffee, or herbal tea at the patio bar, enjoy a game of pool, join fireside chats, and soak in the sounds of good music shared by fellow free spirits. Feels like the middle of nowhere, but it's only 25 miles to downtown Austin and 15 miles to the charming little town of Bastrop with its eateries, shops and historic buildings. Hike the nearby Roughs (trailhead is 2 miles away) or book a river canoe or kayak trip with one of the local outfitters. Hollis and her wonderful voice, great stories and powerful ukuleles now offer LIVE MUSIC by your very own campfire, for your private enjoyment. Happy Horse Hotel is on 22 acres conveniently located between Austin and Bastrop in the Pope Bend of the Colorado River. LCRA's fabulous McKinney Roughs Nature Park is 2 miles up the road, adjacent to the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort. The camp area is 9 secluded, fenced and wooded acres laced with all-dirt flat biking and walking trails on our property. We encourage you to bring your bicycles along. The bird watching is great!

Li'l Capitan Cabin was a great place to enjoy the views of the Guadalupe Mountains and the night sky out on the top deck. We stayed nice and cool inside during the day. Bring what you'll need for the stay. It's a long drive to the nearest store. Overall a great place.

Highly recommend: location close to Guadalupe NP & not far from Carlsbad. Loved the sunrises and sunsets; electric; air conditioning. We camped 3 nights at NP campground and then did 2 nights at Lil Capitan. Last night was super windy so glad to not be in tent. Solar lights near entrance make easy find from road at night. hint: if you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs; road noise.

Took my lady here for her birthday and she had a blast. The Daisy cabin is very nice and very clean, Barry's property is so pretty and he is an amazing host. I would definitely recommend this to anyone trying to have a unique experience and looking to get away from the stresses of life for little bit.

Amazing campsite and the perfect spot for our glamping trip! The off-leash space was perfect for the dogs, and the nighttime views were absolutely beautiful. The site had everything we needed and offered the comfort and relaxing atmosphere we were looking for. We would definitely come back again!

Great location, great views, cabins and bathrooms are clean, check-in was easy. Would visit again! Didn’t love the $90 in hidden fees at the end when you check out, just be honest and transparent about your pricing and build it into your posted price.

My daughter and I rented The Happy Place for a few nights and it couldn't have been more perfect. Everything was set up so nicely in the glamping tent and the location was private, wooded and very quiet. Dana was very courteous and helpful and I'd highly recommend staying here ---I'll be back for sure. Amy

Super awesome spot!! Couldn’t recommend more! This was the PERFECT launch point for Guadalupe and to rest and relax on my birthday. Stunning views of the mountain. The cabin was very cozy and the rooftop was gorgeous. The outhouse was very picturesque although a tad stinky, but that’s to be expected from an outhouse. I loved all the plants on the property— and everything was flowering including the Ocotillo! Wes was super response and kind, and has built a really, really sweet spot. The gate is a tad tough to find till you’re right up on it since it is indeed tucked between mesquite bushes, but Apple Maps directions worked and took us there. You’ll see and hear the highway from the front porch/door, but it really wasn’t bothersome.

Great little spot for just a weekend! Host were very friendly and accommodating. There was 9 of us in the cabin, and 3 of them were teenage boys! You might want to bring an extra fan or 2 for the bunk bed room. Bring games to play for indoors and outdoors.
