Rock-N A Ranch is roughly 20 minutes away and offers horseback riding. The Cabins and Campsites are within walking distance from each other but far enough away to create that illusion of privacy. We do have a neighborhood close by but you can’t see or hear them due to the woods.  In my travels, I try to bring back something I’ve seen or learned to help improve the guest experience and environment. You’ll notice little touches of Asia, Mexico, and even Hill Country Texas! We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and treat every guest like family. We’re always a text away! You’ll see us out and about on our golf carts. If you ever need anything just holler (: Check-in time is at 3 pm. Welcome to Texas Safari Camp Come escape to a heavily wooded 31 acre pristine wildlife habitat. Only one hour east of Dallas but it feels like another world. At the end of a one lane rock road- this is a very secluded property. It is perfect for tent camping groups and individuals, has a very positive vibe and is more peaceful than most state parks. It adjoins a 950 acre wildlife park with 1200 exotic animals. Many can be seen from the road or you can pay to drive through and feed the animals. Your host is Randall Oliver. He has been organizing group campouts for years and enjoys hosting, bringing people together and inspiring a love of nature, camping and paddling. Everyone is welcome and campers are treated like family. He can teach your kids to kayak and build a camp fire. You can fish for largemouth bass, cat, crappy and bluegill in the two ponds and swim, paddle kayaks and paddle boards, hike the jungle trail and socialize around the campfires. There are no designated campsites. You can camp anywhere except between the green building and the front pond. No vehicles are allowed back on the property. Off road wagons are provided to help haul your gear. Front pond camping areas are 30-100 yards from parking area. The rear pond is more secluded but farther from the parking and outhouse. There are four fire pits around the front pond and one next to the rear pond. The tiny handcrafted Hummingbird Tree House is perched on an elevated deck overlooking the front pond. and features a queen bed, a bed in the loft for two small kids, electricity, lights, fan, hummingbird stained glass windows, screened operable windows and a screened, operable porthole window in the kids loft. The deck has lights, tables and chairs and outdoor table and chairs and a thatch covered umbrella. There is no heat or AC in the tree house. You must bring your own sleeping bags, blankets and pillows. No food, smoking or pets allowed in the tree house. There is a rustic outhouse with a modern composting toilet, sink, faucet, lights, soap, etc. and a nearby cold water outdoor shower (no privacy), sink, counter and faucet. Use of firepit and grill, kayaks and paddleboards, rod & reels, hammocks, swinging chair and tire swing is included. Firewood can be purchased $1 per stick

Very private with plenty of varied terrain for hiking swimming, tubing, biking or just hanging out in a hammock enjoying the breeze and peace and quiet. About 2 miles as a crow flies from Lost Maples State Park. You drive through a 13,000-acre ranch to get to us. We are at the end of a dead-end road with one way in and one way out. NO FISHING As our topo map shows we have a wide variety of terrain ranging from steep cliffs with huge views to shady canyons. The river cuts through the middle of the place and is surrounded by four hills that each have their unique characteristics ranging from flat oak-covered to rocky steep ridges. I guarantee you will find beauty all around. We do have a couple of fun areas to try your 4-wheel drive out. Please dont make your own....stay on trails. There are plenty of places to swim. When the Ladder is reserved, you may not swim there. Please be respectful. We have 1.5 miles of both sides of the river so plenty of places to swim. It varies a lot in depth and width over the ranch. Every camp spot has access to all the swimming holes except the ladder when it is booked. The main swimming holes are-- 1. Below the Green Cabin 2. If you do pick Terlingua, there is no better place to stay than Temple of the Bird. Mike is an incredible person, and once you hear his unique story, you will understand why he is the perfect host. There are accommodations here for any traveler, which lends itself to meeting unique people and having a truly one of a kind experience.

Great location! Very close to the lake. I had a blast paddle boarding. Sunsets are amazing. Kasitas are small but comfortable with the a/c. Took my pups and I was mindful of picking up their poop and keeping them on a leash. Only wish others had done the same. Other than that a 10/10!!!

The property is adorable and lush. The Den, the showers, the outdoor kitchen all bring an easy breezy vibe to the place. The A frames make it feel like a retreat away and it’s the perfect place for a solo overnight, a couples get away, or a trip with a group of friends. I didn’t try the cowboy pools or the sauna so I’m already making plans to return.

We loved our stay at the Hideaway! The cabin is quaint but very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked for us to cook breakfast and dinner every night. We enjoyed the hot tub, star gazing and had plenty of room to spread out and relax. The land was beautiful! We saw hummingbirds, turkeys and lots of deer. It is the perfect place to stay when enjoying the area.

We had a wonderful stay in one of the glamping tents. It was the perfect combination of being close to nature while still enjoying the comforts of a cozy vacation. The tent was spacious, clean, and well furnished, making it feel much more comfortable than traditional camping. The peaceful surroundings created a relaxing atmosphere. The bed was comfortable, and the amenities provided made the experience feel special without taking away from the outdoor setting. The retreat itself was well-maintained and offered a great escape from everyday life. Whether relaxing outside the tent. The entire experience felt rejuvenating. The guy who was on site was named tres and he was excellent and very kind! I would highly recommend the glamping option to anyone! It was a memorable and relaxing getaway, and I would happily return.

We had such a wonderful stay! The grounds were beautifully maintained, the bathrooms were clean, and the cabins were so cozy and comfortable. One of our favorite parts was sitting on the patio, listening to the rain and watching the water. The sunrises and sunsets were absolutely spectacular and honestly made the trip worth it all on their own. We also loved exploring the local town; everyone was incredibly welcoming, and we enjoyed some of the most delicious classic Southern meals. This place was an amazing value for the price, and we’re already looking forward to coming back very soon!

Loved it! Beautiful views of the river and the coldest AC!!! Just remember its GLAMPING!! The Airstream didnt have marble counter tops ect. I saw some reviews that said spot 39 was old and outdated. Its a vintage Airstream! Yes it is vintage! But worth every penny! Loved our spot! Nobody bothered us but was there when we needed them! Clean and essentials were provided. There wasnt a cooking spoon or spatula but I bought one and left it there so it would help future guests!! We will definitely be returning!

This place felt very luxurious! I loved the little cabin with the fancy coffee set up and the common spaces with all the amenities. There was plenty of room to roam around and enjoy the hillsides of wildflowers and so many species of birds. I highly recommend staying here.
