Weekend Trip to Wild Wood Haven

The campsite was so cute and whimsical! We stayed in the Milky Way tent and the kids LOVED IT. We squeezed two adults and two young children in there but it was definitely tight for sleeping. It was exactly as pictured, so fun and cozy. The amenities and hosts were wonderful and so so sweet! We got to pet the goats and chickens, and got some fresh produce from their garden. We completed the scavenger hunt - it was super kid friendly and they loved the adventure! We could not get the kids off the zip line or ping pong table, but the playground itself needed a little TLC. Our trip was on a VERY hot weekend (115 heat index) and the AC in our tent had a hard time keeping up at the hottest part of the day. A cold shower at the end of the day was exactly what we needed (even though hot was an option). But the evenings and overnight were perfect! Things we wished we had that we will remember to bring next time: *trash bags *more drinking water *baby wipes (just to clean off between showers) Overall, it was a blast, even with the outrageous heat. My daughter and I rented The Happy Place for a few nights and it couldn't have been more perfect. Everything was set up so nicely in the glamping tent and the location was private, wooded and very quiet. Dana was very courteous and helpful and I'd highly recommend staying here ---I'll be back for sure. Amy

Weekend Trip to Circle C CampGrounds

My husband and I made reservations for two nights. It was my dog‘s first experience to go overnight with us. We enjoyed the Cabin so much we stayed a third night. We have been wanting to go to the Lone star Trail for years. My husband has wonderful memories of taking Boy Scouts on the trail many years ago. I had never gone before. The campsite is located between TH3 and TH4 so it was a perfect location. The Cozy cabin is designed with attention to detail and love by TERRY, Camp host and owner. The tent campsites are nicely arranged close to one of the two stocked ponds. There is a great community shelter with a shower stall and sink, picnic table and barbecue facilities. Terry is very nice and made sure we didn’t need anything. We couldn’t have asked for a greater 3 day stay and will be back. I hope you will also.

Great little spot for just a weekend! Host were very friendly and accommodating. There was 9 of us in the cabin, and 3 of them were teenage boys! You might want to bring an extra fan or 2 for the bunk bed room. Bring games to play for indoors and outdoors.

We came in the offseason over Spring Break and it was the perfect camping getaway. We stayed in one of the prepared Tents (Happy Place). All the fun of camping without the hassle of setting up tents, sleeping equipment, or overheating in the tent. The camping area was a great size for a family. Showers were warm and clean (with some friendly frogs to keep you on your toes). Only amenity I would improve is the toilets (standard port-a-potties, for the same price you can stay at a 3-star hotel) The boys loved running around the wooded camp areas (we were all alone so they had complete freedom). Barely any bugs in March so we enjoyed sitting by the fire for hours

Great location, very nice host. We had a blast. You can walk in the forest and make campfires. The fireplace was very convenient and Terry also let us feed the fish in the pond. I wholeheartedly recommend this place.

Me and my family loved it. Real nice and quiet place, the fire pit, the tent, and had almost everything you need, such as a table, chairs, even an hammock. There is not much to wonder around but is cozy, so you shouldn’t need to. The only thing is that the restroom is not super close, so the only thing I would’ve brought was a portable potty for easy going.

This place is well maintained and very lovely. Evenly spaced out from other campers. Tons of sticks to collect for a good fire, sorry if we cleared all of them out 🤣. The pirate ship is a good touch. Would highly recommend spending a few days here. We camped peacefully full of laughter and joy at the "zen den" only recommendation would be to put a strand of lights on the string for the front of the tent, at night it was hard to see it and would hate for anything to happen to a person or even the owners property. Other than that its a very warming and lovely place. Btw listen for the donkey and geese I had a good conversation with them. Thank you for an excellent stay and we are looking forward to doing it again one day!!

It was a night little getaway not too far. The place we clean and had mostly everything you’d need. The only thing was it looked like you could roam around a little more but it’s the road you drive up on and a little back so exploring with the dogs was a little limited but I would highly recommend this place

Stubblefield Lake Campground

Did a backpacking trip through a strip of the Lone star Trail and this was our base camp. It was shaded but still hot in August and we were the only campers there both times we camped here. They have latrines but no formal restrooms. It's right by a lake so you can cool off and wash up there during your stay. The campsites had spickets so it was easy to get water for cooking. No covered shelters so be sure and bring a tarp or shade structure for added sun protection. Great trees for hammocking.

Stubblefield is nice, but the Overflow Campground a few minutes down the road is free and really great for those that don't need facilities (no water or electricity).
