What a great night! Bummed, I only stayed one night, but as I was passing through, looked at the unique layout on the Brazos river and thought, why not? The host was super responsive, it was a quiet, beautiful night, and I slept more peacefully than I have in months. Definitely recommended if you are driving through the area and looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle. Not sure it is there all the time, but the sandy bottom means there’s a really cool riverfront beach. Unique stay and very memorable.

The owner was nice pleasant unfortunately some people down the street are playing Mexican music that you can hear for at least a mile the campfire would I had to gather myself not a huge deal when I went to go throw the trash away there were squirrels that were drowned in the bottom of the trash can and been left there to rot the bathrooms were locked with the combination lock no combination was ever given I stayed here once last year and it was enjoyable this time was horrible would not stay here again

No Peace and Quiet or Privacy

Site 2 - Sandy Bottoms River Camp

My wife and I stayed at the tent camping site and left with mixed feelings. The layout of the tent sites offers very little privacy from nearby homeowners and passersby. When we arrived, the owner’s neighbor (who was very kind and friendly) showed us around and explained that the tent sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis. After selecting our spot, one of the homeowners used a chainsaw for about three hours straight—starting around 4:00 p.m.—to cut firewood for a large bonfire that was visible from our site. The road leading to the homes and other sites is also within view, so you constantly see and hear cars coming and going. Although the hosts were kind, we felt they were a bit pushy about trying to upsell us to the “beachfront site” for an additional $15. We declined initially, but they asked again later, which made us uncomfortable. On a positive note, the firewood is a great deal at $7 for the amount you get, and there are cold showers, one restroom, and potable water available on-site—all appreciated amenities. That said, my wife and I won’t be returning due to the lack of privacy, barking dogs from nearby homeowners, hours of chainsaw noise, and the overall lack of peace and quiet during our stay.

Weekend camping near the river

We went camping over the weekend and had a great time. The spot we had on the river was perfect. We were able to order firewood and a kayak, and everything was delivered just fine. Heidi was so sweet and accommodating. I would definitely come back!

Our hosts were super friendly and accommodating! They were very helpful and kind to my family. The river was beautiful and clean, no sharp objects along the bottom. Very spacious and family friendly. Our dog had a blast too!

Overall we really enjoyed staying here. We were able to get a spot next to the river. We really liked that they had string lights for us to use. And we really enjoyed all the deer. The host Matthew was super duper nice and helpful. I will say that the other campers in the vicinity were not so great. Lots of barking from nearby dogs and obnoxious jet skiers that were not considerate of us trying to paddle board. We also thought the bathroom on site was scarily gross so maybe dont rely on that.

Heidi the hostess was very responsive and helpful. Very accomidating. The sandy beach and sandy bottom river was just epic! No water shoes needed, just like a real sandy beach! I also love the amount of trees at the campsite! Definitely recommend!

Far better than we hoped for!!

Our time at this campsite was absolutely phenomenal. The owner of the location is an absolute joy to work with and was extremely attentive. Furthermore, the people nearby were tremendously, helpful, kind, and are a reminder that the human spirit can be so good. This camping trip involved my seven-year-old Nephew, who had never been away from home before. He enjoyed every single minute of each of the three days that we were there - I cannot express just how great a time this young little guy had. I picked this site because it was fairly close to home as I was afraid he would want to leave early, but it was difficult to get him to leave at all. I want to say a special, thank you to everyone that we met and interfaced with. Such a phenomenal team who were truly concerned that we had the best possible time we could. The stories that we have to share are only possible because of the amazing place and the people that run it - from the bottom of our hearts, thank you!! We can’t wait to visit again!!

We planned the trip expecting a thunderstorm for the whole 3 days, the first night it stormed everyone else left besides us. We had the whole place to ourselves and it didn’t even rain the other 2 days. It was so relaxing!! We even rented one of the paddle boats and enjoyed some fishing on the river!! Will definitely be back!

Cool place , just not enough camping by the river. We pick a spot by a travel trailer and a make shift home and too close to other campers... Do not pick site 5 !! The owner was nice and gave a refund but the weekend was ruined ...

It was fine for the price, however somewhere in the description it should say that these tent camp sites are not on the water. The pics make you believe that they may be water front spots. Also some dude who had about 5 acres worth of campsites to choose from chose to camp about 40 ft from me. He kept offering me food to start up a conversation. It's like when there are 20 urinals to choose from and some guy walks up to the one next to you and starts talking to you.

It was clean it was close to the river everybody involved was very nice it was a very pleasant stay there were a lot of RVs but it was still decently quiet at night lots of deer in the morning everything was as promised will definitely be back when the river is not so high

Great stay right on the river

The SBRC crew were very generous to upgrade our stay to the RV so that we could sit right by the river, since the water conditions were too risky for tubing. They were there to greet us and get us situated and settled in when we arrived and went above and beyond accommodating my late booking. Cell reception is weak (its in the country) so messages sometimes take a few minutes to go thru. Everything was very well kept with all amenities provided for, and SBRC even went out of their way to set us up with a fishing pole and some firewood. The small local grocery up the road had everything that we needed saving us the trip into town. Sitting by the river enjoying the sunshine was paradise for us, and I really look forward to going back again soon.

RV on the Brazos

Site 2 - Sandy Bottoms Cabins

The exceptional customer service absolutely made this trip for me. I had tried to book a stay with them back in November for it to be canceled due to the rain/ mud on the property. I decided to rebook again this past weekend and Sandy Bottoms River Co offered a free upgrade for the inconvenience on the cancellation form November. I met John at the RV site, which was right on the Brazos with a beautiful 3-Tiered Deck, hammock, fire pit, and gas grill. John was so sweet making sure I had everything I needed. I will definitely be booking with them again!

It was difficult to get in touch with the owner for starters but everything turned out fine and we were able to set up everything just fine. I sort of wish that it wasn’t in the middle of some trees in a trailer park. Not a bad spot for $26/ night though.
