3 nights at The River's Edge

We really enjoyed camping on Thomas' land. The view was beautiful looking out over the rushing river and we even saw a bald eagle a few times across the river. The campsite itself is a bit narrow, so keep that in mind if you have small children. But there was plenty of room for the three of us. The canvas tent and bed made for an excellent experience of being outside without sacrificing too many luxuries. And having an extra tent already set up for us was so helpful considering it was raining when we arrived. This camp site includes a large canopy, tables, silverware and dishes, and a well maintained grill. If you are looking to camp but don't want to pack half the kitchen, this site will have you covered.

Weekend Trip to Bill S. and Nancy's property

Had a great stay! Bill met us in the driveway and showed us where to park. We requested full hookups so stayed next to the house. Took the dog out for a nice walk along the country road and slept peacefully (actually slept in and was late getting on the road). Serene, quiet, beautifully landscaped property!

Gorgeous views, quiet and acres of grass airstrip! This layover was absolutely perfect for pups and yrs truly. We had lovely walks and I could train too. FYI, the road sign was missing so I was a tad nervous turning into the gravel road as I saw a 'No Trespassing ' posted sign. But it worked out and the hosts were incredibly helpful and responsive.

Pulled into a very well labeled easy to find site, well kept, and absolutely perfectly set up. It was a very peaceful getaway. Couldn't have asked for anything better.

Was very happy with our choice to camp at Grouseland Hospitality!! We stayed at the Twisted Oaks site, and the view was great, especially at sunset. It looks like all the campsites have a great view, btw. Mason was fantastic and very helpful. We were delayed in getting there from planned ~3pm until 5pm, but Mason met us at the entrance and was cheerful as ever. The communal shower and bathroom is a nice perk, especially after a long day in the woods! We will stay there again, and I would recommend to my friends/family!!

1 night at Peters Sawmill

This is now one of my favorite spots. The cubby is perfect, comfy bed, heat and ac, and a real refrigerator. It feels like a tree house, with a little deck on the back and lots of windows facing the woods. Bath house has excellent hot showers. I can't wait to go back.

What a great spot! The dwellings were so cute and had everything we needed. There was a cute welcome letter with fire starter and smores for each of us. There is touch lights and an outlet. The beds were so comfy and we stayed warm. We got two bundles of wood for the fire and the bathrooms were so clean! There is WiFi but we had enough service as well which was nice to touch base with love ones when we got back from hiking all day. We were the only ones this week but we would love to come back again. It was such a lovely place to stay and close to Ricketts glen and worlds end state park. Thank you for hosting us!!

It was a wonderful experience and just the cozy vibe I was looking for. The hiking trail next to the river was beautiful, it was a pristine and breathtaking property. I had a truly lovely stay at this cozy and peaceful cabin. The atmosphere was calm and perfect for disconnecting and relaxing. It was quite chilly during my visit, but the small heater kept the space comfortable, and Andy kindly provided extra blankets, which I really appreciated. The cabin also has air conditioning for warmer days. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet retreat surrounded by nature and a thoughtful host.

I never wanted to leave the Treehouse! I was actually surprised at how comfortable and cozy it was! I booked this weekend getaway to decompress and refill my cup. I certainly chose the right place to do those things! The property is absolutely gorgeous and very well cared for! As are all of the incredible animals! The views are spectacular, no matter where you look! The farm is in close proximity to gas stations, stores, restuarants and many different activities, but you really don't even need to leave the farm to have a great time! Burnhead Grazings

The rich history of Burnhead Grazings is enveloped in a love for God's creation. Dr. Gib and Emmy Lou McLaughlin purchased Burnhead, which is Gaelic for the head of the stream, from William H. Stevens. The once pasture for Hilltop Dairy's cows became a pasture for sheep. Gib and Emmy had been in search of land for years after getting their first border collie and falling in love with the Shepherd lifestyle. Gib trained dozens of border collies to work the sheep and did hundreds of demonstrations highlighting the herding abilities of the collie across the country. Their love for Scotland and the border collie took them Scotland on many occasions. Burnhead Grazings is a snapshot of Scotland, "in bye" or close to, the beautiful college town of Indiana, PA. Less than two miles from two hotels, three miles from downtown, and within minutes from Amish country, it is amazing that this respite still exists so close to civilization. Gib and Emmy's daughter, Moire McLaughlin Bridges and her husband Randy have endeavored to bring the sheep back to Burnhead Grazings and to continue the family tradition as well as to share in the experience. You can listen to an interview on The Christian Witness Program on this page for some history about Moire and Randy in Tennessee where they were residing before coming to Indiana. They are producing lamb, wool for spinning and felting, and hay and are opening up the farm for small events such as weddings or family reunions. Moire is also the author and illustrator of a children's book available for sale on iBooks called Sissy & The King. In November of 2014, with the help of Hilltop Baptist Church and many others, they began hosting an event, LIFE Nativity, the weekend before Thanksgiving, which benefits Life-Way Pregnancy Center. Fairview Farms Airfield

The 66-acre property has been licensed as an airport (PS20) since the 1980s. It is currently an active, private airport. We don't sell fuel or offer services beyond camping so we primarily have only air traffic with few to no landings each year. In other words, it is very quiet here except during the occasional low pass. We are very eager for pilots to fly in and camp out! The beautiful sunsets and stargazing night skies are a real treat for anyone that comes to visit. Lots of deer, birds, and other wildlife can be seen out and about. Bring your telescope and binoculars to view all the property has to offer! The River's Edge

The River's Edge campsites sit on the shoreline of the Delaware River at the western edge of New York State overlooking the mountains of Pennsylvania. Our canvas tents and open air platforms perch between the river and the former Delaware & Hudson Canal which was once was used to transport raw goods by barge to New York City via the 'port' of Port Jervis. The remnants of the canal walls are throughout the property including a 300 person theater which we created to both preserve and feature this industrial history. It also makes a great place for an event or a movie night. Today, the original canal towpath, along which barges would be pulled and floated downstream, is a trail that links all of the campsites over 5 acres and at the furthest end an eel fishing camp that is in operation from June to October (say 'hi' to Jim). In the early 1900s, the train replaced the canal as the primary method of moving goods into New York and if you are lucky — you will hear the train rumble by along the river on the Pennsylvania side. There is something spectacular in the absolute still and grandness of the river, the mountains and the ongoing industrial history of the valley. It is a reminder of the way things used to be. The farmhouse and cabins are located opposite the campsites on other side of route 97. Next to them are 50 acres of wild forest to hike and explore. These accommodations are great for guests who want more amenities but still with easy access to river. Pair campsites and cabins so that all your guests have their best experience. Our farm borders the 1,000-acre Hibernia Park with its historic mansion, extensive woodlands, hiking trails and along the beautiful Brandywine river. Austin Dam Memorial Park

Just outside the quaint town of Austin sits a vivid reminder of one of Pennsylvania's worst disasters – the Austin Flood. In 1909, the dam was constructed on Freeman Run to power the Bayless Papermill downstream. Many wondered if the dam was safe. On September 30, 1911, Austin found out. Poor construction, coupled with torrential rain, resulted in the dam's collapse. Nearly 400 million gallons of water were released, destroying everything for 8 miles. At least 78 people perished in the tragedy. It was the second worst flood disaster in Pennsylvania's history and sixth worst dam failure in U.S. history. The tragedy sparked new legislation to improve dam safety, and the Austin Dam was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The ruins of the dam still stand, surrounded by a 76-acre park, as a tribute to the lives lost in the Austin Flood. Don't miss one of Potter County's best kept secrets!

SPACIOUS CAMPING at Private Lake

Enjoy camping at our mostly private and very spacious lake property with dock and boats. Our folks bought this family property in 1953, and it is used and maintained now by my siblings and I. We feel blessed to be able to share it with our own children and grandchildren today, and offer it to others to enjoy who may not have such a peaceful and serene spot to relax and unwind. Stay on 10 beautiful acres of rustic, private land with many good camping spots to choose from in grassy areas with lots of trees. Enjoy boating/fishing/swimming. We have a gazebo at the lake shore, and an anchored swimming float. Kayaks, canoe, rowboat, and peddle boat are available. Lots of wildlife around the lake to enjoy. Campfire ring, water spigot (private drilled well) and electric available on the property. Neighbor cottage partially visible, but our property is pretty secluded and private. Picnic tables and chairs provided. Well behaved pets okay, leashes may be required. Mostly level terrain, ample parking area. Very peaceful here. My favorite place to relax, with a guitar and a glass of wine! Choose your own campsite; spots are reasonably private and secluded. Mowed paths throughout camping section; both sunny and shady spots on both sides of stream. The lake and dock area and the boats, the gazebo, and metal fire ring and picnic tables, are communal. Parking is in a large gravel area behind cottage. Campsites are located across a small stream, easily accessible (less than a 3 min walk) from the parking area. Path immediately next to parking leads to a nice camping area alongside stream. Truck and car-top tents in the parking area may be allowed upon request. We ask that cars stay in the parking area, but there is a wheelbarrow for use in transporting your gear to the spot you choose. There is no bathroom. (Cottage is private.) You must pack it out, or bring your own portable toilet with disposable liner bags. Trash and recycling cans are provided. No shower, but the lake is great for swimming.

Sunnyday's Forest

Sunnyday's farm and forest was a Christmas tree farm in the 1950's. I've owned it for the last 30 years and it is now a horse farm with pastures and woods.Rustic area of 25 acres of pastures and forest bordering a hundred of acres of railroad and municipal forest. Great for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking. 1.5 miles from Deer Lakes park which has fishing, hiking, mountain biking and a great playground. The Allegheny river, judged to be one of the cleanest in the country, is just 6 miles away. Harrison Hills park offers great hiking along the river and an occasional river otter. The Rachel Carson Trail and Baker trail are just a few miles away. It is a secluded log cabin in the woods on top of a hill overlooking a pasture. It is a very primitive cabin with a fireplace, brick floor, large porch, fabric interior and no chinking in the logs. We provide a bunk bed and cots and 2 picnic tables.. There is a large grassy area in front of the cabin for tents. There is no vehicle access, no electricity and no water at the cabin, but LOTS of downed wood for fires. There are horses, goats, chickens, ducks and a pig that roam the pastures. The cabin is about 300 yards from the parking area up a fairly steep hill, but the location is worth the walk! If you're stopping with an RV or trailer we have ample parking near the road and have overnight accommodations for horses Great place for a stopover.
