All lodging sites have heating for your comfort and are available year round! The River's Edge campsites sit on the shoreline of the Delaware River at the western edge of New York State overlooking the mountains of Pennsylvania. Our canvas tents and open air platforms perch between the river and the former Delaware & Hudson Canal which was once was used to transport raw goods by barge to New York City via the 'port' of Port Jervis. The remnants of the canal walls are throughout the property including a 300 person theater which we created to both preserve and feature this industrial history. It also makes a great place for an event or a movie night. Today, the original canal towpath, along which barges would be pulled and floated downstream, is a trail that links all of the campsites over 5 acres and at the furthest end an eel fishing camp that is in operation from June to October. In the early 1900s, the train replaced the canal as the primary method of moving goods into New York and if you are lucky — you will hear the train rumble by along the river on the Pennsylvania side. There is something spectacular in the absolute still and grandness of the river, the mountains and the ongoing industrial history of the valley. It is a reminder of the way things used to be. The farmhouse and cabins are located opposite the campsites on other side of route 97. Next to them are 50 acres of wild forest to hike and explore. These accommodations are great for guests who want more amenities but still with easy access to river. Pair campsites and cabins so that all your guests have their best experience. Contact us to coordinate for larger group bookings. Please note that a significant portion of county tax/fees and cancellation or change fees may be avoided by booking the base amount of people (4) and at a much later date adding extra guests. Guests NOT occupying canvas tent (lodging) and bringing their own tents should not be paying an occupancy tax but there is no provision for this in the app. We do not want our guests paying taxes -- that benefit no one but useless bureaucracy! The 66-acre property has been licensed as an airport (PS20) since the 1980s. It is currently an active, private airport. We don't sell fuel or offer services beyond camping so we primarily have only air traffic with few to no landings each year. In other words, it is very quiet here except during the occasional low pass. We are very eager for pilots to fly in and camp out! The beautiful sunsets and stargazing night skies are a real treat for anyone that comes to visit. Lots of deer, birds, and other wildlife can be seen out and about. Bring your telescope and binoculars to view all the property has to offer! Note that we are always working to improve our slice of heaven, thus we do have tools, vehicles, and equipment stored around the farm that if not used now will be one day. We appreciate your understanding that some areas are used for our personal / farm storage. If you're not into looking at our farmware, there are a few nearby campgrounds. The hot tub is located next to the owner's home. Guests are welcome to use this at any time but must reserve and pay for a time slot. * Book this through the Extras * We are within walking distance of Swatara State Park and close to the Appalachian Trail. Short drive to the local winery, bowling alley, pub/diner, and movie theater. Grocery stores and gas are also nearby. Just outside the quaint town of Austin sits a vivid reminder of one of Pennsylvania's worst disasters – the Austin Flood. In 1909, the dam was constructed on Freeman Run to power the Bayless Papermill downstream. Many wondered if the dam was safe. On September 30, 1911, Austin found out. Poor construction, coupled with torrential rain, resulted in the dam's collapse. Nearly 400 million gallons of water were released, destroying everything for 8 miles. At least 78 people perished in the tragedy. It was the second worst flood disaster in Pennsylvania's history and sixth worst dam failure in U.S. history. The tragedy sparked new legislation to improve dam safety, and the Austin Dam was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The ruins of the dam still stand, surrounded by a 76-acre park, as a tribute to the lives lost in the Austin Flood. Don't miss one of Potter County's best kept secrets!

Turtle Ridge farm is 35 acres of scenic beauty in historic Chester County, Pennsylvania. Secluded and private. Hiking and fishing available. Turtle Ridge Farms borders the Brandywine River and about 1,000 acres of woodland park. We try to be a unique host farm experience. We will have contactless check in available upon arrival. Campers will fill out the registration form on the front porch and then go to their site. A note about fishing. Fishing is available in the Brandywine River behind our farm, in Hibernia Park, at Springton Manor catch and release pond, and also at Chambers Lake in the park. 35-acre bucolic farm with goats, sheep, chickens and geese. Sites are near our one acre pond and each site has a fire pit. Our farm borders the 1,000-acre Hibernia Park with its historic mansion, extensive woodlands, hiking trails and along the beautiful Brandywine river. Lots of wooded areas, trails, rock outcroppings and beautiful scenery. The entrance to the park is through our farm gate near Site 2 and then down a trail. There is an indoor powder room with flushing toilet and sink for campers to use and a small camp shop. Wood is available for purchase. We are located 5 minutes from the hospital, 10 minutes from grocery stores, 30 minutes to Amish country and Longwood Gardens. Hopewell Furnace, St. Peter's village, Daniel Boone homestead, Historic Springton Manor, Marsh Creek Park and lake are all nearby. Check out our Facebook page and reviews - We are Open Year Round. Offer Farm fresh eggs for breakfast. Children age three and under are free. Children age four and up must register and pay as campers. Our 10 acer property situated about a 20 minute drive from rickets glen state park has field and wooded camp areas provided with a fire ring. We have 1 site suited for rv parking in our upper field. Other sites include our lower field and 1 site along side reyburn creek. There is minimal phone service, none at the creek, but our wifi reaches the upper 2 campsites which we will gladly give access. A 2 wheele drive vehicle can make it to all campsites but i would recommend 4 or all wheele drive for the lowersites as the trail can be slick when wet. Wood is not currently provided but you can burn any downed or dead lumber. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Weekend Trip to Spyglass Ridge Winery

We had a great weekend here with our two dogs and our teardrop camper. The amenities were as described in the listing. (Electric hook up, water available a very short walk away, no bathroom.) Thomas was very helpful, chill, and personable! The winery property was extremely busy both days we were there with a local dance company hosting their spring show at the performance stage on the other side of the property. We could hear the music, but even with the hundreds of people just a few hundred yards away, we felt tucked away in our little grassy corner, and we were still able to eat a couple of meals on the patio of the restaurant where there is an amazing view of the vineyard and the rolling hills in the distance. Both morning, we could hear turkeys gobbling in the trees not far off. We did some hiking at nearby Shikellamy State Park m, and I squeezed in a nice, scenic, and hilly run down the back roads surrounding the winery. A great, relaxing stay in a beautiful location.

Weekend Trip to Austin Dam Memorial Park

Another wonderful stay at Austin Dam Memorial Park. The staff is very helpful with great communication. They are also very knowledgable about the surrounding areas and what to see while hiking and exploring. Took my Scout troop and all the scouts had a fantastic time and loved the views of the stars at night!

Weekend Trip to Stargazing Field at Olga Farm

We had an amazing time at John and Olga’s! John was wonderful in helping us find a good spot on his land and making our time comfortable. The bathroom situation is one of the best set ups we’ve experienced on Hipcamp- proper, clean structures with compost toilets. And obviously the stars were breathtaking. 10/10 would recommend. We can’t wait to come back! Thanks again John and Olga!

Great place to set up the RV for a hiking base camp. We were greeted by Russ as soon as we pulled in and he made sure that everything was good with the site and that all of our needs were met. Very attentive and accommodating, something rare to find these days in a host/camp manager. Nothing but 100%+ happy with staying at this place. Thanks again for a great stay. We will be returning.

This is the perfect choice for anyone looking to fully experience the peace and quiet of nature. It was an amazing environment for a relaxing getaway with our dog, Luna. The cabin was well-stocked with absolutely everything we needed. Even though it’s in the mountains, the shower was fantastic—plenty of hot water and great water pressure! The manager was incredibly kind and helpful, which made our stay even better. We made great memories here and would absolutely love to visit again.
