The 66-acre property has been licensed as an airport (PS20) since the 1980s. It is currently an active, private airport. We don't sell fuel or offer services beyond camping so we primarily have only air traffic with few to no landings each year. In other words, it is very quiet here except during the occasional low pass. We are very eager for pilots to fly in and camp out! The beautiful sunsets and stargazing night skies are a real treat for anyone that comes to visit. Lots of deer, birds, and other wildlife can be seen out and about. Bring your telescope and binoculars to view all the property has to offer! Note that we are always working to improve our slice of heaven, thus we do have tools, vehicles, and equipment stored around the farm that if not used now will be one day. Guests are welcome to use this at any time but must reserve and pay for a time slot. * Book this through the Extras * We are within walking distance of Swatara State Park and close to the Appalachian Trail. Short drive to the local winery, bowling alley, pub/diner, and movie theater. Grocery stores and gas are also nearby. Learn more about this land: This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports. The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site. We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. Sarah and Stein * Camp Blackbird is a 28 acre property that runs along Beltzville State Park in Carbon County, PA. So besides the camp, there is an additional 3,002-acres of state park to explore. There are a total of 2 sites. The land was vacant for decades and unfortunately used to dump household garbage during that time. We cleaned up the land, built a home and bat habitat. We, Sarah and Stein, always disliked renting a camp site somewhere and then ending up on top of people. So it was our goal to make space on our land for campers like us that want to be surrounded by nature, not other camp sites. A portion of the proceeds from your stay will be donated to bat habitat conservation and bat sanctuaries around the world. We are grateful for the hundreds of campers that have stayed with us. Thank you to all of you that have left a clean site and not made unnecessary noise that would disturb the countless species that share the forest with us. Also, Thank You for patronizing local businesses while you are here. We'll give you a map so you can see where to take a short walk to get to the lake. There are miles of hiking trails a few minutes walk from your campsite. Beltzville Lake is a great place for paddling. The boat launch is just a few minutes drive from Camp. In addition to the beautiful immediate surroundings, we are centrally located near many exciting destinations. Year round activities at Blue Mountain Resort, adventure on The Appalachian Trail, fine dining, biking the rail trail and whitewater rafting in Jim Thorpe, all within a 25 minute drive. The property is not suitable for parties or events. The area is a QUIET ZONE. Ideal for people looking to unplug from it all and become one with nature. It is teaming with wildlife and is ideal for birding. The hosts mission is to disturb wildlife and its habitats as little as possible. VERY IMPORTANT - NO PARTIES or unregistered guests on the property. There are other campgrounds in the area that are great for people who want to party. We welcome pets. Please add your photos! Sarah and Stein * Camp Blackbird is a 28 acre property that runs along Beltzville State Park in Carbon County, PA. So besides the camp, there is an additional 3,002-acres of state park to explore. There are a total of 2 sites. The land was vacant for decades and unfortunately used to dump household garbage during that time. We cleaned up the land, built a home and bat habitat. We, Sarah and Stein, always disliked renting a camp site somewhere and then ending up on top of people. So it was our goal to make space on our land for campers like us that want to be surrounded by nature, not other camp sites. A portion of the proceeds from your stay will be donated to bat habitat conservation and bat sanctuaries around the world. We are grateful for the hundreds of campers that have stayed with us. Thank you to all of you that have left a clean site and not made unnecessary noise that would disturb the countless species that share the forest with us. Also, Thank You for patronizing local businesses while you are here. We'll give you a map so you can see where to take a short walk to get to the lake. There are miles of hiking trails a few minutes walk from your campsite. Beltzville Lake is a great place for paddling. The boat launch is just a few minutes drive from Camp. In addition to the beautiful immediate surroundings, we are centrally located near many exciting destinations. Year round activities at Blue Mountain Resort, adventure on The Appalachian Trail, fine dining, biking the rail trail and whitewater rafting in Jim Thorpe, all within a 25 minute drive. The property is not suitable for parties or events. The area is a QUIET ZONE. Ideal for people looking to unplug from it all and become one with nature. It is teaming with wildlife and is ideal for birding. The hosts mission is to disturb wildlife and its habitats as little as possible. VERY IMPORTANT - NO PARTIES or unregistered guests on the property. There are other campgrounds in the area that are great for people who want to party. We welcome pets. Please add your photos! Especially of your dog camping! Check out the 300+ photos past campers have added. So many of them are dogs camping it up. We, the hosts, live on the property about 700 ft from the campsite. We try to have minimal interactions with the guests to ensure privacy and personal space but we're always reachable.

Absolutely beautiful dairy farm and we had the opportunity to take an impromptu hay ride with corn maze employees to check out the Christmas Village which amazing. “A little slice of Americana”. DJ and Loretta were super nice and let us explore the whole farm, talk to the all the cows. Even made a new friend Benny the cat who hung out with us at our campfire. 10/10 We will definitely be back!!!

Weekend Trip to Ferns in the Forest

Virgil & Pam really go above and beyond at The Fern House! The cabin was comfy and stocked with everything one could need for an extended weekend away. Our hosts were generous and gracious. They provide great communication and hospitality. We spent 3 nights and wish it could've been longer! Our pups loved the mile walk around the property each morning plus great hiking spots nearby. We took advantage of the fireplace, local eatery suggestions, and the loft was the perfect hideaway for resting and waking to beautiful wooded views. We cant wait to come back!

Bill & Erin helped make our wedding plans a reality. We planned a 40 person intimate wedding celebration / group event buyout. Everything was setup perfectly! Bill helped the team with detailed instructions on smoker. Wood was made available at all sites and Bill & Erin even helped by making fires for the different lodging areas. I would highly recommend a stay at Fairview Farms! Bill & Erin went above and beyond to sure we had everything we needed to make this wedding day a reality.

Treehouse is cozy even when it’s way below freezing! Come enjoy!!

Our time in the treehouse was magical. It was my 13 year old son and I. He is 6’1” and he was able to comfortably sleep in the loft. Bill and everyone at Fairview Farms was welcoming, friendly and helpful. The stargazing was phenomenal; I highly recommend a dip in the hot tub under the stars. I would recommend bringing a heated blanket in the colder months. I brought ours and it was the perfect mix of cold and snuggly warm. There is a heater that works like a charm, with the blanket we only used it during the day.

The campsites at the organic farm are great, spacious and secluded. A lot of birds and several deer were attracted by the pond. The farm is very close to the city and the trails, at very convenient spot for everything one needs. Communication with Eric was excellent! I would come again anytime.

We stayed at Fairview Farms Airfield in Pine Grove, Pennsylvania, and it was one of the most peaceful weekends we’ve had in a long time. The property is beautiful, surrounded by rolling hills and open fields that make you instantly relax. It’s quiet, private, and feels like a place where time slows down. Bill was great to talk with—friendly, easygoing, and made sure we had what we needed. The site was level and easy to set up our camper. We really appreciated the thirty dollars a day for unlimited firewood. That was a nice touch, and we made sure not to take advantage of it. Sitting by the fire at night with the stars out and the moon glowing over the ridge was perfect. My dog loved it too, watching everything from the camper window and enjoying the calm. The place has a simple charm that makes you want to stay longer. We’ll definitely be back.

My pup and I loved our overnight stay. The property is beautiful and quiet. We woke in the morning to a herd of deer walking through camp. Having electric available was a big bonus. We were car camping and being able to have a car heater to keep us cozy was perfect on a 30 degree night. My pup loved being able to be off leash.

Beautiful campsite! We stayed at Tall Oaks and it was just as the others said - far enough removed from the other campsites and at the end of the access road so as to make it very private. The site included a grill, fire pit, trash bins, and picnic table which was immensely helpful! The only thing to be conscious of it that the main area to pitch our tent was relatively flat, but not perfectly flat. It was fine for 2 nights as long as you make sure you flip your beds around not to sleep on the downhill 🙃 All considered, we still LOVED this campsite and will absolutely return in the future!

This site is perfect! The road is a bit rough towards then end, but it’s a short distance. Do go to the left as Josh recommends! We went right without our camper to see and don’t, just don’t. The site is well kept and private and very big. Perfect to let our dog, Sully, roam free the whole time. It was his first camping trip. A+ for Sully. Already thinking about coming back next year. Thank you for the nice relaxing time!
