Just outside the quaint town of Austin sits a vivid reminder of one of Pennsylvania's worst disasters – the Austin Flood. In 1909, the dam was constructed on Freeman Run to power the Bayless Papermill downstream. Many wondered if the dam was safe. On September 30, 1911, Austin found out. Poor construction, coupled with torrential rain, resulted in the dam's collapse. Nearly 400 million gallons of water were released, destroying everything for 8 miles. At least 78 people perished in the tragedy. It was the second worst flood disaster in Pennsylvania's history and sixth worst dam failure in U.S. history. The tragedy sparked new legislation to improve dam safety, and the Austin Dam was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The ruins of the dam still stand, surrounded by a 76-acre park, as a tribute to the lives lost in the Austin Flood. Don't miss one of Potter County's best kept secrets!

Lumber Museum, Rock City Park & Jakes's Rocks/Allegany National Forest are all a short drive. The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon is nearby for day trip for additional hiking and other outdoor activities along with wondrous views and activities.

Our property is located near the tiny village of Glen Hazel, our unique area offers close proximity to many watersports and hiking opportunities.
Visitors can watch bald eagles and osprey as you enjoy kayaking, fishing and nature at this primitive campsite. We have just one site. Our campsite is very private and includes a fire ring, a picnic table a trash can and a swing. Parking is available right at the site. It's just a 2 minute walk to the northernmost kayak launch on the East Branch of the Clarion River. Here you will find a public porta potty for use during the summer only. Several small jack dams will make your kayak experience a delight. We have a private 1 acre pond just a stones throw from the campsite that visitors can enjoy. Fishing is permitted in the pond, no license needed. Fly fishermen will enjoy the thrill of catching native and stocked trout in the most beautiful section on the East Branch of the Clarion River (PA fishing license and trout stamp required).
Nearby is Bendigo State Park that offers free use of picnic areas and swimming in an immaculately kept pool. Just 1 1/2 miles away is the Dam Inn where you can stop for a beer or for a nice dinner on the deck. Adjacent to the campsite is State Gamelands #25. This enormous tract of public land is open to all for hiking, biking and fishing the pristine native trout streams, including Middle Fork, Crooked Creek and several others. Only a 3 mile drive will land you at the East Branch Lake, a seven mile long lake where you can put your boat in and fish, kayak or water ski to your hearts content.

Huge maple trees where a maple sugar shack was once on the property provides a wooded area by the stream where you can set up a tent or sleep in hammocks and listen to the stream.
There is a gorgeous completely renovated house on the property that may also be rented. The property is shared.
We provide a picnic table, and a fire ring. Fire wood available for additional fee. There could be two sites, one has electric and both have water. If you are camping together, contact me for additional information and fee for more than one RVs.
Bring a water filter, water is safe but has the sulfur smell. A charcoal filter is recommended.
The circular driveway provides easy access. Toy hauler or horse trailers welcome. ATV can get in the DCNR connector trail right from the driveway. Hunters are welcome to hunt the many acres of public land in the area. Not permitted on our property.
There is wildlife including bear, deer and Turkey we often see ducks, eagles, gross beaks, and cardinals just to name a few.
This is the place to come to park you RV and retreat to the creek in back of property if you want time to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.
There may be other people on the property if we are there or if the house is rented. There is plenty of space for all.

Creekside now has electric ceiling lights, hot plate, mini fridge, etc. With a king bed (or two twins) and a bunk bed set, the cabin can sleep 4, with room for extra cots if needed. The gazebo has an outlet as well. Please provide your own linens, cooking utensils, dishes, and other camping wear. Cabin can be heated with a woodstove. As of Spring 2026 our cabin is now fully insulated, with tile flooring. Warmer in in cold weather, and cooler during the summer.
Angelica NY is just a few miles up the road, where you will find cute antique shops, dollar general, post office, gas etc.
We love our little slice of private water side camping here in Angelica and hope you will take care of it like it was yours. Please no carving of names or dates in any structure, do not cut or chop down any living tree or vegetation. Our property has a lot of walnut trees- watch for falling nuts come late summer and fall! No dumping or putting anything down toilet pit except toilet paper!

Perched near a hilltop, these 32 acres contain some open land but also white pine woods and a hemlock/yellow birch swamp where deer, fisher, bobcat and bear can be found. Immediately adjacent are thousands of acres of state land with miles of trails good for hiking, skiing, horseback riding, and mountain biking.
Pick apples from the trees, enjoy swinging in a hammock or climb into a tree house after spending the day on the trails. Pitch your tent under the pines or in our back yard, and hear the crickets and peepers as evening falls and you sit around a fire.

I absolutely loved my stay at this HipCamp. Very quiet, tucked away in back of a farm, plenty of parking, porta potty and really nice outdoor shower, big level area to park, room to roam around, picnic table, hammocks, a dry chair, this list goes on.
I will come back here again, it was such a nice area, and the HipCamp was perfect!

We loved camping here. Marie and her family were extremely accommodating & friendly. The campsite is awesome. It is secluded and there is allot of area for your exclusive use while camping here. My daughter loved watching the cows play. The outhouse provided was spotless and the outdoor showered is really cool. Some unexpected added features were the provided hammocks, and welcoming packet that included chicken food to feed the chickens on the farm. I almost hate to leave this honest review - because I want the site to be available when I want to use it. Lol. We will definitely stay here again. (Hopefully very soon)

5/5 stars. If I had one word to describe it would be cozy. Ben is a great host. The cabin has nice privacy and it has everything you need utility wise. You are tucked away against a large creek if you like water activities. Nearby hiking trails. Check out the butcher shop in Sheffield if you like to grill!

An absolute gem of a site. The cabin itself had everything we needed. Was already warmed up for us upon arrival on a snowy evening and held heat well throughout our weekend. You want a picnic? We’ll give you a picnic—just come to Sizerville State Park and take your pick from the more than 200 wooden tables and benches scattered around the grounds of this 386-acre plot of perfection. Nom it up, then channel your old swim coach and instruct all your peeps to wait 30 minutes before cannonballing into the 105-foot pool. Unless it’s off-season. That could be painful. But, we’ve got alternatives!—work off the marshmallow kabobs on one of the five miles of loop trails for varied levels of hikers, or hop on a snowmobile or a pair of cross-country skis and see all the sights of this beautiful space.
Anglers, hunters, and trappers will find their happy place here at Sizerville and campers equipped with both RVs and tents are welcome year-round. Come fall, you could find your next handmade gem at the Annual Autumn Festival, or in the warmer months, you can pop your head into the Environmental Education Building to check out the many species of butterflies that this park’s native plants attract. And, all that? That’s just the start of it. We’ll let nature do the rest.
