This property and farm has been in our family for 3 generations. In 1964 my grandfather started the campground due to limited camping at New Germany. My father tells stories of it being filled with guests all summer long! Over the years there was few upgrades and now it's in need of a facelift. Landscaping, electric upgrades and bathhouse remodels were completed Spring 2021. We will continue to renovate in phases it's been a labor of love, but you can still see the beauty of this rural location and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Lots of trees, shade and nature. It's located near New Germany State Park, 1.5 miles by car, less than a mile by foot. The state park has a lake and hiking trails. Garrett County has so much to offer, waterfalls, lakes, hiking, skiing, Amish gifts, history, fresh air, beautiful scenery. The campground was first started in 1964 by my grandparents, we are currently completing renovations in phases.

- Firewood and farm fresh eggs are available from your hosts. Don't hesitate to reach out. We'll deliver!
- One kayak and one canoe are available for rent, however trasportation is not provided at this time. Contact your hosts for details.
- A picnic table, fire pit, and port-a-john are available at the campsite for your use.
-Please note, the campsite is located off a dirt road. Four wheel drive is recommended but not required.
- Hunting is prohibited at the campsite and the surrounding 10 acres, however hunters may be present in other areas of the mountain during the fall. Always be aware of your surroundings.
- Wifi is not available, however there is adequate cell phone reception for all common carriers.
-As always, leave no trace. A dumpster is available along the road for disposing of your trash as you leave.

Wild Yough is located in Southern Garrett County, Maryland very close to Herrington Manor State Park, Swallows Falls State Park, and the quaint mountain village of Oakland. The property adjoins thousands of acres of Garrett State Forest and hundreds of acres of state land along the Youghiogheny River. The world class Wisp resort and Deep Creek Lake are only minutes away. “Yough” is short for Youghiogheny River a state designated wild and scenic river which runs through the heart of the property. Wild Yough Glamping huts are part of more than 350 acres of private land, most of which is crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails. Youghiogheny is an Algonquin word meaning “a stream flowing in a contrary direction”, or in the case of the Yough, North toward Ohio Pyle and Pittsburgh. This section of the river is designated as a protected scenic corridor and you will feel the quiet isolation when sitting on the Crooked Butt Bench overlooking the big horseshoe bend in the river at the far back corner of our property. And if the river is low during your visit, feel free to wade across to the other side – Wild Yough owns the entire peninsula of land on the other side of the river and this is also bordered by State land.The river banks are steep on the property, but the fishing for small mouth bass is exceptional. There is a small turn around on the path just beyond Crooked Butt Bench where you can take out your canoe, kayak, or inner tubes after floating the 2+ miles from the Oakland bridge. Just be prepared to walk your water craft back up to the house or Glamping site as there is no motorized access to the river.If you like to lay on the rocks in the sun or take the kids for some wading in the river, the best place is the farthest to walk to. Take the trail to “High Bluff”, then cross the Snyder property line (Permission for trail access only – do not leave trail!), then descend down and cross the bridge across Herrington Manor Creek (a stocked trout stream!). Visit the site ranked by Hipcampers as one of the top three sites in West Virginia. Pitch your tent on a wooded mountain knoll overlooking the Cacapon River surrounded by the Allegheny Mountains as far as you can see. The Cacapon River is a hidden scenic gem and the cleanest river in West Virginia. This is rugged West Virginia at its best. Wildlife abounds and it is common to see Bald Eagles, Black Bears, and Whitetail Deer.
If relaxing on the ridge line and enjoying the views are not enough, hike down to the river via the powerline cut or trails and swim, paddle, or fish (WV license required...one day passes are available online). You can also hike the creek running through the deep hollow, which follows the state access road while enjoying dark Hemlock woods and shale cliffs. If you like to mountain bike, you will find the mountain access roads and trails offer you some back country riding fun.
The campsite has nice level areas for pitching a tent and an established fire ring and picnic table. Trails allow one to hike in or drive (a four wheel drive is necessary to access the ridge line campsite). The campsite is very private, but it's possible you will see a friendly neighbor pass by on the trail or see folks staying at the cabin in the valley along the river flats if you go down to the river or you can get a bird's eye view of cabins in the valley across the river from the top. The campsite is no trace so you must bag out all garbage and waste. Cat holes and such are not permitted so campers must bring and use a camp toilet. During exceptionally dry periods, open fire restrictions may be put in effect.
You will need a four wheel drive vehicle to access the site. If not, or in inclement weather (snow or heavy rains), you can hike in from the state road where the access road begins.

The property's history dates back to pre-European settlement and was originally inhabited by Native Americans with archaeological evidence dating back at least 10,000 years. After European settlement, numerous
of battles were fought in the area during the French and Indian War, American Revolution, and it was even a cross-roads for armies during the Civil War. Farming, sustenance farming, and logging were the primary industries throughout the region. Later, during the Industrial Revolution, the river, limestone, charcoal, and iron ore from the area fueled a local iron bloomery, which the area, "Bloomery," is still named.
The land you are camping on was nearly completely logged over the last hundred years, but a few old growth trees can still be found throughout the mixed hardwoods forest. On the way to the campsite you will also pass the old original school house (now a hunting cabin) located on a neighbor's adjoining property. There are still a few old timers left that attended the one room schoolhouse as children, but the building predates them by many years. There is also an old Methodist Cemetery located on the property (not near the campsite) that dates back to the 1700s. If you happen to find this site, please do not disturb it.

This spot is best for a van camp location but plenty of space for tents and hammocks. You'll find a drive-up deck if you wish to park there. Firewood is available providing you use downfalls as kindling in the stone fire pit. A 8x20' deck and picnic table are 20 feet from the fire for stargazing. When the ferns are full grown they are 3 feet tall and everywhere. A 10 minute walk takes you through a dense pine forest with large rock formations and a nice creek with many gurgling fall areas. If there looks like a cave amongst the large rocks, then it probably is a bear den.

The Byrd's Nest is a river front, primitive campsite on the scenic Cacapon River in Great Cacapon, WV. The property is very secluded, but only 2 hrs from D. C. and Baltimore. The space can accommodate 5 tents comfortably or a few small campers (w/o hookups). Please note- I only book one group at a time. You'll have plenty of privacy! Spend your day bird watching on the river deck, put up your hammock and chill, go hiking or mountain biking at Cacapon State Park, take the kayaks out and paddle around, go fishing, or take a float trip. I can provide info on put in/take out spots depending on how long you'd like to float. I have 3 kayaks available for your use, or BYO if you'd like to venture further outside of the property lines. There is one big fire ring for cooking and/or bonfires, along with a large stationary stand up charcoal camp grill. There is also a small communal shed down at camp that contains extra camping supplies, etc.. feel free to use use and put back and or/ contribute to it! :)
This spot is close by to Berkeley Springs, Paw Paw Tunnel, Cacapon State Park, and other nature preserves. More hiking, biking, restaurants, spas, antiquing- all within a beautiful 20 minute drive if you wish to venture out.
There is a cabin on the property. I will more often be home than not, I will communicate with you about that around your stay. Sometimes I"ll come down to the river frontage if I drop in for a float .Also, we all get around on four wheelers and UTV's. So you will hear them from time to time. If I am home, please feel free to come up if you have any concerns/questions or to say hi! :)
*Please note, you can normally get to this site without a 4 wheel drive vehicle. However, when the river is high it will sometimes flood the low water bridge where it crosses the Cacapon. If this is the case during your stay, I will provide all necessary information regarding projected river levels and directions. I will also offer a full refund if the bridge is impassable.

My friend and I loved this campsite. The directions were spot on and it was easy to find. It's a beautiful riverfront site. There is so much to do on the local area: excellent fishing, biking, and hiking are literally within feet of this campsite.

Weekend Trip to Casita Of LOVE (Panhandle WV)
Pablo & Lorena have set up a wonderful oasis in a beautiful part of the WV wilds. They are very welcoming, the cabin has everything you'd need for your stay and more. The heated shower was a nice touch. Everything was clean and ready for us when we got there. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again!

Chuck is an AWESOME host! He made sure to tell us several things about the area that we might enjoy doing before we even got there! As we travel to the area often, we had already done a lot of the things he mentioned, and since we were primarily there to visit family, we didn't have time to check out any of the other things. However, they are now on our list of things to do! He was even so kind as to let us upgrade to the 50 amp site even though we had only booked the 30 amp. Both sites are awesome, but the 50 amp is a little larger, so it's better for spreading out a little more. It was raining a good chunk of the weekend, and we were very grateful for the nicely packed gravel at each site - we have stayed at other places and ended up dealing with mud... We don't always bring the camper when we come to the area, but when we do, you can bet I'll be checking to see if this site is available before looking anywhere else!

Rainy and somewhat unseasonably cold weekend, but the site itself is excellent. Beautiful river, great mix of trees and grass, clean bathhouse complete with warm showers, dry pavilion with a ping pong table and space to hang out, lots of dry firewood and local beer available at the camp store. Andrey's a friendly host and helped us have a great weekend. Would recommend and look forward to camping again in the future.

Weekend Trip to Bear Run Farms
We had a really great time! We lounged on the dock during the day, dipping in the lake when it got too hot and hung out by the fire pit at night. The land is beautiful and a few baby cows stopped by our site one morning! Amber was responsive to our needs and very friendly. The cabin covers the basics and we supplemented with a few camping extras. We’re already talking about coming back.

I came for a night or two of camping. What i was greeted with, was 3 days of the best camping experiences i have ever had. The grounds were immaculate, the did was out of this world, and the centerpiece of it all, we're the staff and the locals. I was greeted with friendly faces and an atmosphere that made me feel like I was more than welcome. I wasn't treated like a "tourist", but like I was someone that had been there for years. The pride that is in this place is palpable, and it shows. I already have plans to make this place a frequent stop for a weekend getaway. Can't recommend it enough!!

Chuck’s property is a hidden gem — and I almost hate to say that publicly! If you’re planning to ride the GAP, this is the perfect base camp. The location couldn’t be more convenient, and we came away with miles of great riding and some truly memorable scenery. Chuck is an exceptional host — knowledgeable about local landmarks and trails, quick to respond, and full of great recommendations. We’ll definitely be back.

We received very detailed instructions from Andrey which were so helpful in preparing for our trip and then he came by and introduced himself when we arrived. The property is beautiful and it looked like every site was equally as nice. We stayed on the South spot which was close to the bathhouse (maybe two minute walk) and right next to the Great Cacapon River. We had several cars, five large tents, one small tent, a large shade canopy and an enclosed shelter setup and we had plenty of room! Even though you can see the other sites, there is a generous amount of space between them. Would love to visit again!

Carp Cove Farm was a great spot for a weekend camping trip! The property was beautiful, the tent sites were spotless, and the bathroom was clean. Ralph greeted us at the top of the property when we arrived to show us around, and was extremely helpful and friendly! We loved spending time in the river and meeting the animals on the farm. We'd definitely visit again and recommend this spot for anyone looking for a nice weekend getaway!

Amazing campsite! I definitely did not believe the lake would actually be that blue, but it was stunning in person.
Our campsite was well setup, with a couple picnic tables, well developed fire pit, even a private dock with little aluminum boat to putz around the lake! It’s situated with plenty of distance from the other sites around the lake, we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves.
Special shoutout- outhouse was so clean and such a pleasant change of pace from most campsite facilities which are so often full of spiders, trash, and unpleasant smells and such.
Amber came around with extra firewood in her truck after the sun started to dip, which was excellent timing and we were delighted to have a few more logs to keep the magic going into the night.
It’s close enough to dolly sods you can bunk here if you don’t feel like backpacking, and near some of our fav little towns of Thomas and Davis, full of cute restaurants and galleries.
We will definitely be back!
