This Central Coast city makes for a great home away from home for RVers.
One of the bigger cities on the Oregon Coast, Newport makes a great base for RV campers wanting quick access to miles of Sandy shore without being far from shops and restaurants. Local attractions include the Oregon Coast Aquarium, Yaquina Bay, the Yaquina Head Lighthouses, and the Yaquina River—popular with swimmers and anglers. Newport also makes for a good base for RVers wishing to explore other communities in the Central Oregon Coast region, including Lincoln City (“the kite capital of the world”) just north of town and the Siuslaw National Forest inland from Newport. Public RV camping options include the South Beach Campground in South Beach State Park and the Devil's Lake State Recreation Area in nearby Lincoln City. And while public campgrounds tend to fill up quickly, plenty more private RV campsites exist in the area, many with hookups, picnic tables, and plenty of privacy.
