Please do not throw any trash in the porta-potties. 4WD/AWD REQUIRED PAST THE BARN: The steep gravel roads can be tough for some cars and rigs (particularly on the way out) and consequently, can cause a lot of damage to our roads. So for everyone's safety, we have restricted access to only vehicles with 4WD or AWD only. Please do not message us asking us to advise on the vehicle you have. If someone in your party has a 2WD vehicle, they can park up in the entry lot and get shuttled down to the campsites in a 4WD vehicle. DOG FRIENDLY: We are as dog friendly as it gets here. Unleashed dogs are allowed on this property down by the creek (on-leash required in and around the barn). If you have a fear of dogs, or have dogs that are not friendly with other people or fellow dogs, this probably isn't the right campground for you. Of course, we expect all dog owners to keep an eye on their pets so they don't disturb other campers or ingest anything they're not supposed to. QUIET HOURS: 10pm-9am. We ask that guests keep the noise (loud music and loud conversations) to a minimum between 10pm and 9am. We live onsite and will enforce these if we have to (please don't make us). We purchased this slice of paradise in 2003 as a place to relax, recharge, and someday build our dream home. It started as nothing more than a gravel road leading to a small clearing with an old bus and a couple decks. Our children have grown up out here learning a deep respect for nature and the real (non digital) world. Now empty nesters, we live on site. Part of our retirement planning is to spend next several years developing the lower portion of the property (approx. 15 acres) into a campground and retreat for our guests, as well as our own family, friends, and grandchildren. The campground area (currently) consists of a handful of primitive campsites, and a group area. We are working steadily on improvements, including adding more sites, improving the roadways, and upgrading the common areas. First thing everyone should know is that we are under the landing approach to PDX. Some planes are quiet, and some are not. My wife, our farm pals, and I are used to it but, we want you to be aware. So, our property: coming in at roughly under 30 acres, Cold Springs Farm, established in 1885 and sits nestled in its own little valley. The farm's name is inspired by spring feeds a small pond at the Northeast Corner (near the Alder Site) that has crawdads, Mallards and Blue Heron. Of course, there are also curious Raccoons and Possums about. A canyon running the north of the property in known for its wildlife population including bear, deer and elk. Wherever you camp, you may hear someone moving through the forest at night. Although we are a short 30-minutes to Portland, our private farm is free from unwanted lights and traffic (save the intermittent air traffic), when the skies are clear, starwatchers who bring their telescopes have many vantage points from which they can indulge their hobby! Our wide-open field is great for kite flying, frisbee, doggie frolics, and it's also a great place to practice your drone piloting skills. Mid-July through early October you have access to pick as many blackberries as you want and they are delicious. Cold Springs Farm is also a sanctuary. Our current residents include our Kunekune Pigs: Chris P Bacon, Wilbur, Piggit, Hamish McBiscuit and Rowdy. The resident goats include Dolly, Freddy McNubbins, Princess Daisy, Mikey, Mildred, Marvin, Daphne, Booger, Cyra-Nose, and Delilah our big, gentle goat. Rounding out the bunch are our farm dogs, Oscar Braveheart, Hoppin' Howie and Lulu-bear our rescue Pyrenees and resident sweetheart. We look forward to welcoming to our Columbia River Gorge farm and introducing you to what our beautiful area has to offer. We are just minutes from many of the gorge waterfall hikes including the historic Multnomah falls and Vista House sitting on Crown Point. One of Oregon's favorite summer concert venues, McMenamins Edgefield, is a short 10 miles. And we have economy spots specifically for Mcmenamin Concert goers. Contact us for details. Although pets are welcome, we expect them to be well-behaved around our two cats, our own big sweetie of a pup, Frejya, our two crazy goats Cupcake and Muffin, and our free-ranging chickens. Expect to hear some animal noises here on the farm. Our property literally borders the scenic highway. Because we are so close, you can hear the sunset-view-seeking drivers, motorcycle riders, and yes, racers who come out this way for a spin on one of the most scenic highways in the world. Camping on Robert’s land was just what I needed! Spaciousness of the land, sweet solitude, hearing the frogs chirping in the evening, gorgeous full moon, and birds singing in the morning. Oh and a unique view early in the morning of the majestic, Mt Hood! I’ll be coming back!

I stayed here while competing in the Beaver State Fling at Milo McIver State Park, and it was the perfect home base. The location is exceptionally convenient—just a 10-minute drive to the park—which made navigating tournament logistics a breeze. Hospitality & Coordination: Flexible Timing: Karissa was incredibly accommodating, allowing me to arrive early on Friday and leave late on Sunday, which was a huge help for my tournament schedule. On-Site Guidance: She met me personally on Friday morning to provide guidance and ensure I was settled in. Farm-Fresh Perks: I purchased a dozen organic eggs from the farm. They were delivered right to my camp after my Friday round and made for an incredibly luxurious scramble on Saturday morning. The Site Experience: Quiet & Spacious: Despite being a working farm, there was absolutely no disturbance. I had a ton of space to spread out and enjoy the surroundings. Atmosphere: The "outdoor living room" setup was great, but the highlight was the night sky—it’s a beautiful open view with virtually no light pollution. Amenities: I had reliable water and electric hookups for my trailer, which made "trailer life" very comfortable throughout the weekend. If you are a disc golfer playing at Milo or just looking for a peaceful, spacious retreat in the Eagle Creek area, this is the spot. I’ll definitely be back!

This was such a wonderful place for family time. It was really neat to see Karissa‘s space and inspiring to see all that she and her family + animals do. We loved being able to have our dog with us. The bathroom set up was fun to see. Both sites at her place were special in their own ways, one sunny and open with views of animals and one shady and wooded with a special, secluded feel. Karissa recommended nearby Milo McIvers park and the kids loved the relaxed fished off the dock near the dam.

While it’s on their property it’s not in their way at all, and while it’s essentially a gravel lot with other campers everyone is very quiet and kind and you barely see any other people. The views are beautiful, the grassy area is great to play with kids. Easy to run water to fill tanks and power hookups are great. Would recommend.

Excellent location to access Mt. Hood and all the surrounding fun. Simple, quite parking spot with full amenities for your rig and even an outdoor seating area. The hosts were a joy to chat with and provided me with loads of local info, they were also super helpful in fixing the wifi issue for me. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and grateful to have a great spot next time I hang around Mt. Hood. Also, you get FREE high level security from their BEAUTIFUL dog. An absolutey stunning pup, seriously. Can't beat this camp spot yall!

This area is amazing in its beauty and outdoor activities, and they know some good spots to check out (thanks for the Salmon River trail tip!!). The RV spot was easy to back into, spacious, and had water/power in a convenient location. I will definitely be checking in the future to see if they are available when I’m in the area twice each year!

We have REALLY enjoyed our stay at beautiful Grace Acres. We’re still here, we have decided to extend our stay. Paula and Ed are super friendly and kind hosts. Ed went above and beyond to help us out with an electric cord to use so we could have electricity. The rv spot is flat and on gravel, so no muddy paws on our Pooch. Plus the resident farm dogs, Maverick and Lucy are just wonderful and so gentle. The rolling green views are magnificent and the stars at night, look close enough to touch. Thank you for allowing us to stay on your fabulous property!

Kingfisher Campground

A great place to camp for a weekend getaway! Even though the campsites are right next to one another, it still felt private and quiet enough. We didn’t use the Blue Barn, but thought it was a great touch and I would have used the shower if we had stayed one more night. We will definitely be back!

Shawn’s property is beautiful and maintains the integrity of the land. All campsites seemed lovely but I can certainly say the a-frame was a beautiful stay. I especially love that one full side of the a-frame extends. Velcro lines the outer edges when it’s extended and bug mesh is available under the bed to help keep the bugs out while letting in air. A dog bed is also available for use. It was the perfect spot for our dog to relax after a day hiking the Olympics and exploring the creek just a short walk away from the site.

07/01/2023: I didn’t camp but did a hike in the area up to Elk Cove. @Marielles the road to the lake and campground is completely passable for any vehicle despite the warnings on the FS website. There was a Prius and Tesla Model S at the lake when I passed by.

Kinnikinnick Campground

I have not camped here yet so this is not really a review. I'm trying to get more information about the road to get there. I have read online that they recommend vehicles with high clearance only. We have a very basic 2012 Honda Civic, so not Jeep or truck or anything like that. Would we still be able to make it with this car? What cars have others used? Thank you!

Barlow Crossing Campground

UPDATE: MOSTLY CLOSED. The bridge to the campsites and vault toilet (and trash pickup) has been condemned and intentionally blocked off by huge fallen trees (and later boulders to prevent off-road crossings through the creek itself). There are still a few spots near the creek, kind of RV friendly and the toilet can be accessed on foot, but it is no longer serviced. I think this happened in late 2017. The dispersed camping along the creek North of the bridge is still accessible from the Northern approach to 3530 but only in high-clearance vehicles.

Carter Bridge Campground

This site is filled with beautiful trees on the wild Clackamas river. There is river access. The only downside is the proximity to the highway - but get close enough to the river and it drowns out the sound of the cars during the day. Not a noisy highway at night. The proximity to Portland makes it a wonderful site for a quick get away. The vault toilet may have been the cleanest of its type I've ever seen. Additional ammenity: Ranger Scott. I made a rookie mistake in trying to secure a first come, first served site, and my site was taken when I arrived. He was able to creatively help me out by letting me stay in the day use area, which was bonus. He also had tons of tips and stories about camping, so he was a great part of my experience.

Lost Lake Resort and Campground

One of the best views of Mt. Hood... this place is unmatched in the summer time. If you have time head over to the Lost Lake Resort for a number of activities, including boating and kayaking. A large portion of the sites are near the water and are very spaced out. You can set up a massive camp site and still feel alone.

Meditation Point (Timothy Lake) Campground

This is my absolute favorite summer weekend getaway from Portland. It’s just over a two hour drive and once there, a beautiful 2 mile flat forested hike in. There are five designated sites and many more sites along the way along the edge of the lake. Each spot is private and has its own beach. The water is warm and absolutely perfect for swimming. Great spot for wildlife viewing. Once watched a hawk devour a bat right in our campsite. We often see deer too. And, of course, the symphony of frogs at night. On a calm night you can climb out on one of the many fallen logs the protude into the lake for an epic echo effect rolling around the large lake. This place gets busy on summer weekends and parking can be tricky but I’ve always found a spot

Trillium Campground

While the campground is closed for camping in the winter, the groomed trails make for an awesome day snowshoeing or cross country skiing with the whole family, your gang of friends, and your fur children. Trillium Lake on a clear day provides awesome snowy views of Mt Hood and if you bring bird food the birds will eat straight from your hands. Trillium Lake Campground is very busy but incredibly beautiful in the summer time and definitely worth checking out no matter what time of the year.

Kinnikinnick Campground

We arrived on a hot Thursday summer day to a busy lake, The camp host's Ken and Renee where very friendly and helpful with lots of knowledge of the area. Wildlife is everywhere here including, Fishing, Eagles, Beavers, and Deer. Laurence lake rode is a tight twisty road and really only wide enough for 1 way traffic if your hauling a small camper. Beware of kids speeding around blind corners. Most sites are a walk in tent site, with well marked trails to each site. Near the boat ramp there are 4 campgrounds you could get a small trailer or pickup camper in to. There is no potable water and there are two vaulted restrooms kept very clean. The campground is well landscaped for a 1 man crew and garbage service is available too. Day use and/or camping fee's apply to help pay for the services. Cell phone service, and electricity are non existent. Option to reserve camping spots are coming soon. Stayed July 2017

Barlow Crossing Campground

Being nestled away in the Mt. Hood forest makes it a little difficult to navigate to, however once you set up camp right on the ice cold, (literally melted glacier water), crystal clear creek, you're all set for a great stay of trail hiking, light rafting, and plenty of deer sighting. Great for group camping or a little hideaway.

Breitenbush Lake Campground

We camped here over the July 23rd campground and a few things to say about it: The campground itself was nice. Large campsite that could easily fit 2-4 tents and 1 car (a few could fit a couple cars). The campground was also about 50% full and seemed far more used than was otherwise indicated. Probably due to the increased traffic, the vault toilets were devoid of paper (so bring your own) and were not the most pleasant smell. Also, I can tell you the mosquitos are still pervasive, especially close to the waters edge, throughout the summer. The road to the campground was terrible. We drove up in an F-350 dually and while we were able to get up there, we found a few places where we had just over an inch of clearance from boulders and

Paul Dennis (Olallie Lake) Campground

Definitely not a great place to go if you don't have a truck or suv. The roads are bad around the lake with tons of wash outs. Drive carefully! The lake is silting in, and the marshy area much bigger than it used to be. Probably from all the beetle kill and damage from forest fires that hit awhile ago. You used to have water directly from the lake, but it's no longer potable, so you have to bring your own. Still no swimming allowed in the lake though. The big old trees I remember as a kid are gone, and it's mostly small hemlocks. Still decent fishing, but the mosquitoes were so numerous it made camping not pleasant. We got eaten alive.
