We have a small area in our Alpaca pasture designated for campers. We are a short drive (2miles) to down town Hermiston. Our ranch has been here since the 1940's and has decreased in size since its days as a potato farm. The Alpacas are shy but curious. They are not dangerous but do not like dogs 🐕🦺 and other small animals. (Please keep pets on a leash) We remove the Alpacas and mow the camping areas but please keep in mind that this is a pasture that is used when campers are not present. Please be prepared. This is a working ranch and there will be animals🦙 , bugs🐜 , and poop💩 in the pasture.
River Front Park on the Umatilla River is within walking distance and the Columbia River is a short drive. In the summer we have several farms in the area with fresh produce for sale and Blueberry picking just down the road. You won't want to leave town without picking up a world famous Hermiston Watermelon! Come stay with us "Where Life is Sweet!"

Pitch a tent on the pasture and literally count the sheep around you before falling asleep or climb the hill and see for miles in every direction. We may be close to the road, but it doesn't feel like it.

Each site has access to an outhouse, potable water, picnic tables, trash disposal, and we allow campfires (outside of burn bans), and pets.
We also sell fresh eggs, firewood, and lamb sausage.
Our guests love staying with us: "There’s fireside fun in fresh country air, rolling hills around the farm to walk along to enjoy the wide expansive view, and sights and sounds of animals around camp to make for a relaxing day. There’s kittens, dairy sheep, gigantic but friendly herd dogs, and a variety of guinea hens and ducks. Terry is super kind and friendly. Try the sheep’s milk ice cream- what a treat!"

This campsite is a pull thru road that has a sun and wind block overlooking local farm fields. Please note that SELF-CONTAINED vehicles are required for this site, as this is a dry camp with no water access or restrooms. Camp is two miles from freeway exit yet miles from any home other than the working homestead that was started in 1890 with huge barn built in 1906 next door. This is a great place to rest for the night or a week. - simple, safe, and private out of the way. From I-84 you will take exit 198 for Lorenzen/McClintock Rd. Turn onto Lorenzen. Drive one mile until you get to an intersection next to a grain bin. Turn left (west) and drive for almost one mile. As you near the two openings for the site, you will see the sun shelter directly on your left. You want to turn at the 2nd opening, by the sign that says IN. You can pull up right next to the shelter and set up your space however you like. That way, when you leave you will exit by the sign that says OUT and be headed back towards the interstate like you came.
This site is 12 miles west from the world-famous Pendleton Round-Up. 8 miles east of Echo Ridge Winery, Sno Road Winery, Echo historical museum, and Echo Golf Course. Simple dining can be found in Echo at H and P cafe and in nearby Stanfield at Broken Barrel Restaurant/Bar with great burgers.

The Valley is known as the fruit bowl of the nation. The site is located on a farm that has been in production on the Roza slope 4 miles north of Sunnyside since 1945. Surrounded by fields of peppermint, Concord grapes, and a variety of crops within walking distance it is a fertile paradise. The Yakima Valley has thousands of acres of wine grapes, hops, apples, cherries, pears, peaches, and vegetables. Wineries are located up and down the Valley and people drive 100s of miles to do wine tours. Several microbreweries are also accessible and within 50 miles to the west you’ll be in premier hiking in the Cascades.

Michael’s camping site again provided me the opportunity to visit McNary Wildlife Refuge as well as several other beautiful parks in the area. Michael was welcoming and made sure I had everything I needed. The site was clean and easy to park in. Several quail sat on the fence and welcomed me as I ate dinner in the van.

Great place with lots of shade and an amazing little creek flowing right out your door that sounds just like a waterfall, so relaxing! Dogs loved it too they had plenty of space to watch the chickens, ducks and run around! Oh and listening to the frogs at night! I will definitely stay again! Camping on Kara's land was a very pleasant surprise. We were in the Tri-cities to see our granddaughter play soccer and needed a place not too far from the sports complex to park our teardrop trailer. Brown Barrel turned out to be perfect for us. It is in a suburban area, but the spot, which is right next to a creek, is private and quiet. We slept well to the sound of the flowing water; we brought our own water and camp toilet since there is no restroom nor is there potable water available at the site. There is power, so we were able to plug in the trailer; a real advantage. Nearby are many dining options. We drove a few miles to Badger mountain for a late afternoon hike which was wonderful.
We will return the next time we come to the Tri-cities.

The location was perfect, not far from the freeway. It was a level site, quiet and private. It was a nice stopping point on my way home. I would definitely stay here again.

This was a perfect spot to stop and stay the night on my travels! The location is merely 10ish min off the main highway, which made it so convenient so stop and sleep for the night in a safe, private area that felt comfortable for my dog and I. Will def be my new go-to halfway stop. Thanks Kara!!!

Very nice setup with electric and water. easy site to get in and out of. Michael is super nice, helpful and then he leaves you be. if you. eed anything just ask otherwise he won't bother you. campsite is conveniently located near the Columbia River, Hood Park, Sacajawea State
Park, and Walla.Walla vineyards. Very pleasant stay!

Taylor’s place was the perfect location to camp while visiting McNary National Wildlife Refuge. It was impeccably clean, had easy access to the refuge and to Richland, and was very quiet.
The host greeted me and made sure I had everything I needed. I was glad for the availability of power as the evenings were chilly.
I would camp there again when visiting the area.

Maybe the author of this campground description could do his/her homework? Such as: no such thing as steelhead salmon. They are either steelhead or salmon. And the John Day has both, along with Brook and Bull trout (although Brook trout are not trout at all, they are actually a char). This kind of attention to detail would be more helpful and interesting. As it is, I tend to doubt the accuracy of this campground description. I know, picky picky. But hey, it’s your business, so why not get it right?

Haven't been to Olive Lake in years, but have many fond childhood, adolescent and young adult memories at this lake. It's a little ways up (elevation-wise, that is), so the air is a little thinner. Prepare for this and give yourself a day or two before you start exploring too far from camp. There is a great several-mile hike to the "upper lake" (not sure if it has a name, that's just what we always called it; and, it's not nearly as much of a lake as it once was--more like a high mountain wetlands with a brook trout filled stream meandering through it. Pursuing crayfish can be very lucrative, as can the Kokanee fishing. Over the Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day weekends, Sumpter offers a HUGE flea market about 45 mins away.
