Weekend Trip to Wallkill River Camping

Beautiful property and campsite. Our host Sarah was super helpful and accommodating with any questions we had. She was quick to respond and friendly. We would definitely love to come back again sometimes.

3 nights at Historic Riverside Farm

We loved staying at Riverside Farm the site was very private and very large. The river access was great, just a short walk on a wooded path led to a beautiful spot were we fished sat in tubes and just hung out in the water. The only thing I could say was a little inconvenient was the entrance to the site was a little tight for trailers to navigate around the dumpster through the opening to the path down to the site. But even with that we are definitely coming back.

Weekend Trip to Wallkill River Camping

Had a great weekend here with my family. The wooded area offered the most privacy, but you also have the choice to set up near the river with plenty of open grass which is also secluded. The hosts were very attentive and nice. There were lots of mosquitoes near the river which is to be expected, but there were less in wooded area. Fishing here was our highlight and we caught lots of catfish. Other campers were tubing and swimming in the river. Only downside is you need take your own garbage with you and there’s no potable water, so make sure you plan accordingly. The outhouse was fairly clean and well maintained considering. A firepit and grill was available on our site. Lots of fireflies and stars at night which was nice to see. We will definitely come back and we would definitely recommend this place!

3 nights at Wallkill River Camping

Highly recommend! We stayed in site 1 and set up our tent in the trees at the top of the hill. Beautiful site with view of the river and the hay field. Short walk to swimming spot by site 3 (muddy but worth it!). A gorgeous place to spend some time! We loved seeing the bats overhead at twilight, the stunning display from the fireflies, waking up to birdsong. Private and quiet. Clean outhouse. Good vibes, friendly host!

3 nights at Red Fox Meadow Campsite

big area with lots of fire pits. there is a bath house that is a bit of a walk, but close port-a-potties. The host is part of the cafe, which was an added bonus! The camping part itself was just us and one other couple, but the cafe was busy on the weekend. There is a wooded area as well if you prefer. The ground was only a little soggy while we were there. Super dog friendly! you can hike/bike from the campsite. we did a small hike to the slabs, played in the pond and on some ropes/swings/netting.

Kathy’s place was the perfect little oasis away from everything but close enough to not be away from everything. My 5 year olds loved hiking to the waterfall, swimming in the wading pool, and roasting marshmallows! We’re definitely coming back. We loved our site and would totally book it again or try another on the property. Cleanest composting toilet outhouse I’ve ever seen. ZERO smell. Kathy was refilling supplies around and stopped to introduce herself. My boys say it’s their new favorite vacation!

Amazing place because you can go there for quiet seclusion, but there is also a brewery (went we dropped by there was a cover band playing the dead) and an amazing grocery store nearby. I would go back again just for the food — all of the most delicious fruits and vegetables and meats and sausages, plus pies and donuts and fudge. Just an awesome place near the gunks!

Kathleen was a fantastic host and made the experience way better. She greeted my dad and I on site, made sure we had everything we need and gave us a run down of the land on where we could hike and what we could do. The site (Site 3) itself was fantastic, perfect spacing between sites, and was well taken care of. I personally have a tent in the back of my truck, there was plenty of room for me to park it and be right on site. Firewood price was extremely reasonable and the site had a dedicated pit and grill grate for enjoying and cooking. I would absolutely camp here again, it felt safe, welcoming, and all together a wonderful nature getaway.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Historic Riverside Farm Campsite 1 and I cannot rave enough about my experience! Nestled in a picturesque setting, this campsite offers breathtaking views of a sprawling farm, making it a perfect escape into nature. The rolling fields and vibrant greenery provide a stunning backdrop, especially during sunrise and sunset. One of the highlights of my stay was the easy access to the Walk Kill River. The soothing sound of the flowing water and the opportunity to explore the riverside was simply delightful. Whether I was fishing, or just lounging by the riverbank, it was a serene experience that I’ll cherish. The facilities were well-maintained, and the staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful, ensuring that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. I recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway amidst beautiful scenery. I can’t wait to return!

3 nights at Historic Riverside Farm

Our family had a fantastic time camping on the farm. Site 2 was ideal for letting our toddlers run freely through the chamomile fields all the way to the swings. The shade from the tree provided a lovely respite from the sun. Access to the river was just a short 15-step path away. While it’s not safe to leave little ones unattended by the river, there’s a nearby path leading to a shallow riverbank that’s perfect for toddlers to splash around safely. The campsites are spaced far enough to see, but not hear your neighbors . We’re glad we brought two large water containers, which were perfect for drinking and washing. The water from the pump tasted fresh and clean. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

We are located in the heart of the Hudson Valley, close to the Village of Rhinebeck and the Hudson River. There are many things to do within a half an hour of the campsite. Learn more about this land: A very spacious semi-wooded site that is in the shape of a triangle. The dimensions are approximately 100' by 100' by 50'. Perfect for the large group camp out or the family site. The Lean-to is approximately 10'x9', large enough for a small tent or keep the picnic table in there for bad weather. Large or multiple tents no problem, put your tents in the wooded area where there is room for multiple tents. There is a fire pit area, picnic table, 4 outdoor chairs and corn hole that all are included with the site. A seasonal stream runs along the campsite giving you a nice bubbling brook sound. Monarch Meadows

This 17-acre site has diverse habitats, from an upland pine and hardwood forest to wild native meadows full of blueberries, asters and milkweed. The most special feature is a large tributary and creek waterway system with areas of wetland. Once choked with invasive plants, it is now a largely restored native plant and wildlife habitat that supports migrating herons, trout, amphibians and clouds of Monarch and other butterflies. In the fall I've seen Monarchs circle up in vortexes from the meadows and take off on their migration. There are several large swimming holes where the creek turns or joins with its tributary. Bridges have been installed over the tributary and over brooklets feeding into it. A lot of care and love is going into this land. Over 500 native trees planted along the creek banks are growing into a forest - you'll see many still in protective tubes and cages. Thousands of native pollinator ground-plants have been planted or sprung up on their own, some like tiny flowering gems on the shady forest floors. The old stone walls running through the property and around its boundaries speak to its history as a farm and an apple orchard. Swimming, hiking, fishing and bird-and-wildlife watching will fascinate you in this dynamic landscape that is constantly coming closer to what used to exist hundreds of years ago and is now reestablishing itself. In the vicinity, there's Tetta's, a deli/cafe/gas station and small emporium with made-to-order pizza, local raw honey, mushroom, crafts, and all kinds of food, pretty much everything you need; it's been in the family for generations. Find it Northeast on Samsonville Road (County Rt. 3) at the junctions of Rts. 2 & 3. There's a hike to a waterfall if you drive a few miles down Upper Cherrytown Road from the end of Sundown Road: you'll see a parking lot with signs for the falls; the DEC-maintained trail is across the road (https://www.catskillmountaineer.com/SD-vernooy-falls-east.html). There's venues nearby along Rt. 209 with local musicians on Saturday nights: places like The Outpost Barbeque, 6611 Rt. 209 in Kerhonkson, Lydia's Cafe at 7 Old US Hwy 209, Stone Ridge. Near Lydia's is a favorite afternoon hang-out, Cherries Roadside and General, which not only has literally hundreds of ice cream flavors, but an excellent, informal restaurant. Little Birds Farm

This campsite is nestled in the deep woods of a 120 acre farm that offers beautiful views coming and going. After being allowed to use the restroom at the stone farmhouse, you will then go rustic and start your 3/4 - 1 mile hike in (approximately 20 minutes to the campsite) past the fields and pond down the path into the woods. The trail is remote and you will instantly be able to leave the sights and sounds of civilization behind you and breath the clean forest air. Wear good hiking shoes because portions of the hike are uneven and rocky. This site is best for experienced campers who know how to pack light with just the essentials as there is no tractor service to this campsite. When you arrive at the campsite, you will be within 20 feet of a year round stream with brook trout and in a hundred foot tall hemlock canopy nestled between two brook meadows. A 9,000 acre forested preserve abuts our property so you will be able to completely relax, bird watch, enjoy the wildlife, or fish for a brook trout breakfast without hearing the sounds of anyone but yourselves. The campsite has a stone fire pit, split log benches for seating, a canvas privacy blind around a stand of trees where the composting toilet resides, and a food bag lift to attach your food and trash bags to about 100 yards from the campsite. Unlimited Split firewood is free next to where you will park that you can take down to the site. All trash needs to be carted out with you. We can't accept mixed trash as it will attract animals that will knock over the trashcans and make a mess. No food goes in our personal trashcans as we have learned this the hard way. The Mountain Top @Wright's Farm

In our barn (now home to Gardiner Brewing Company) he had gravity fed water troughs for his cattle. Since then we have slowly switched from animals to tree fruit. You will enjoy rolling hills of fruit trees and fruit gardens along with beautiful views of the Shawangunk Mountain Ridge. We have 450+ acres so it in very private. As we are a working farm, you can see us driving pass with our tractors or maintaining the orchard around your campsite on occasion. You are welcome to ride your bikes, hike or jog where you will pass ponds and a working farm landscape. Please don’t pick our fruit. If you would like to enjoy the fruits of our labor please visit our farm store open year round on the premises where we sell cheeses, our fresh picked fruit and veggies, local meats, and our famous cider donuts along with other farm products. We also have a farm brewery open 3-7 in our old dairy barn for you to enjoy. Live music Saturdays and Sundays. Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Reserve are only 10 minutes away. The rail trail is three minutes away. This trail gives you walking and biking access into New Paltz, where there is tons of restaurants and lots of shopping. Please be aware that during the months of September and October there may be a Pick-Your-Own customer or two walking around picking apples around the campsite area between the hours of 10:00-6:00. You are also welcome to come down to the farm market and purchase bags to pick your own apples in season.

Paradise Valley Homestead

Always working on improvements! My second glamping site "The Medieval Encampment", is available for booking starting April 1st of 2025. I will have more pictures soon. In April of 2024, my long awaited 1st Glamping site was available for booking. It's been very popular! Please read the description carefully of the "Gypsy Rose Vardo", to see if it's the right fit for you. I also have 10 large camping sites available on our 33 acre property located in Northwest NJ. Sites 1 through 4 are on mowed, fairly level fields and are large enough for campers or RV's up to 30ft, or a couple of tents, and sites 5 and 6 are further back in the woods, available only for a few small tents, sites 7 through 10 are much further into the property and are only accessible with a high clearance AWD or 4WD SUV or you can park and hike your gear in. There are 3 compost toilet outhouses spread out through the property, so it's an easy walking distance from any site. Although we are only 2 1/2 miles from a main highway, the last 2 miles are on a dirt road with no houses. We are surrounded by protected land, so no neighbors and lots of wildlife, including the occasional bear, coyote or raccoon. Keep all food items secured. Because we are surrounded by protected land we are not sprayed for insects, so be safe and do tick checks often and bring the bug spray. We are 45 minutes from NYC or the Delaware Water Gap and an hour away from the NJ shore. There are horse farms nearby that offer trail rides. We are also close to the Highland and Appalachian Hiking trails. There are two reservoirs within a 20-minute drive for canoeing or kayaking. There are walking trails through our property, including a ten-minute hike on a marked trail to a small waterfall in a ravine.

Joan and Chris have been together since 1996 and married since 2000. Joan runs two nonprofits related to psychological abuse and custodial interference as well as dabbles in the arts creating products from recycled and repurposed materials. Chris has been master carpenter and cabinet maker since the 1980’s. The two spend time keeping the grounds and gardens up and going out to dance. They love live music. The property is also the home to 3 cats. While physical check out of the tent is 10am, please ask if you would like to stay later. We can do a day rental of just the pool and gardens for an additional fee of $600 for parties of up to 20 people. For larger events, such as weddings, please contact us to discuss. Please ask if you would like to stay a little later than typical check out time. We often can accommodate. Please do NOT pick the fruits or veggies without asking as often things are not quite ripe yet. When things are ripe, we will try to put a bowl of fresh stuff out for you to choose from. Of course, it goes without saying, Please be considerate and clean up after yourselves. No smoking cigarettes or e-cigarette, vapes in the tent. If you need to bring a pet, they must be well-trained and not have an issue with cats or other dogs as we have 3 cats. Pets are NOT allowed to go to the bathroom on the lawn or in the gardens. They must either go in the woods or in the designated area for this. Please clean up after your pet if in the designated area. Ask us for how and where. We provide a wide range of amenities including first aid, bathroom and shower supplies. If you forget your tooth brush we usually have new extras around. Please bring bathing suits. We do have pool towels if you need them. If you need ice for our or your coolers, please purchase before hand. There are two supermarkets in town along with lots of other amenities in town. Please do not smoke in the tent as it sticks to the canvas. But you are welcome to smoke or vape outside of the tent. Parking on site off of the driveway across from the house. Please let us know if you need a later checkout time as checkout time can be altered to later in the day depending on new arrivals. The pool area is shared with the homeowners. If there is something you need, please do not hesitate to ask. We are pretty reasonable about requests.
