Great first time!
We had a fantastic time camping at Pheonix Landing! Its a great place with hiking in the immediate area or close by if you want to take a drive. It is secluded enough to feel like your in the back woods but close enough to town if you ever need anything. Great fire pit and picnic tables already set up with a nice landing to set your tent on. We would highly recommend this place and plan on returning for a repeat adventure!

We had a great time at this site. The kids enjoyed exploring the woods and the platform was nice for setting up our tents. The solar powered umbrella light was a cool touch!

Pick Your Adventure
Great Campsite! Lots of privacy, the road is close by but it's not distracting. Mike allows you to pick what type of camping experience you want. He has built a wonderful site with a toilet/shower/sink combo, platform, and picnic tables; however, he also allows you to take a more primitive approach and camp "off-site". Highly recommend and will be back.

Such a great place! Phoenix Landing is a beautiful, quiet, secluded spot. There's plenty of great space for tents, multiple fire pits, picnic tables and chairs. Mike is a great host -- he was very communicative and just a pleasure to talk to. We brought our 6-year-old and 9-year-old kids and they found plenty to do in the woods all weekend long. We hope to stay there again soon!

We loved camping at Phoenix Landing. The host Mike was super friendly, responsive, and helpful. We loved the site. It's very large, nestled away in the woods. It has plenty of seating/tables, a great fire pit and pit grill, and lots of good areas for tents. Would definitely recommend and hope to be back next year!

Great stay! Thank Mike
Had a great stay! Tucked in beautiful forest with all your camping amenities. Perfect spot for a getaway - chance to sit by the fire and relax. We were doing research on streams in the Hudson River, and this was a perfect HQ for our field work. Mike was also extremely kind, easy to communicate with, and quick to lend us a hand when we needed.

Top Tier Tent Camping!
The camping experience here is spectacular. Mike is a stellar guy who is helpful, knowledgeable, and easy-going. The land is pristine with a babbling brook running along the edge of his property. We had a platform set up with a rain tarp for our tent which was nice. There are plenty of chairs and tables, so consider not having to bring that stuff. If you are into cool bugs and salamanders, this is the place! There are mushrooms to hunt and other forest trinkets to behold. There is a fascinating Shiitaki farm that Mike runs and is happy to show you. It is pet-friendly, and there are extra fun things like foam swords, balls, fishing pole, etc. Only 90 minutes from NYC, you can't beat this getaway. It is private, quiet and a very healing place.

Mountain feel close to the city
Loved tent camping here! There were many amenities (covered deck, firepits, outhouse and outdoor shower, picnic table) making it a very comfortable stay. Communication was excellent, directions clear. And most importantly, the land is beautiful. Lots of land to roam around in, water to explore, rock formations to climb. One can hear the road traffic in the distance but it feels like it’s in the mountains since there are almost no houses to be seen from this spot. Absolutely incredible so close to the city. Would definitely come back!

I love this camp site! Very private and lots of nature around. You can try highland trail right next campsite. When I stay at phoenix landing, unexpectedly snow storm came and it has crazy wind, Mike checked me consistently and help. He is a such nice man and help me from his heart in unexpected weather. Even weather was crazy, it was the one of best camping trip I’ve ever had! Trail was super nice and long. I could go with bicycle(next time) I definitely go back again! Thanks Mike!

The stream provided a place to dip into and provide a nice cool down when I was there. Very much enjoyed! The road into the site is quite rough and the one to the campsite is quite steep but with my high clearance AWD Subaru I was able to get where I needed with no problem. The site is very nice in terms of being tucked into a wonderfully intact forest. The nearby 2 lane highway creates a lot of noise in the morning but otherwise there is no sense of nearby neighbors. A very special place. Thanks Mike.

Perfect camping place
Phoenix landing is suck an awesome place. Mike is a great host. Can’t believe this place is only 1 hour from NYC. This place is remote enough to be out in nature but also has perfect cell signal just in case you need to get in touch with reality. I would recommend this place to anyone around the NYC area looking for a quick camping getaway.

great site
We spent 2 nights here, and since all the sites are combined we had 2 picnic tables, the platform, the outhouse, shower all to ourselves.. we had a fairly new sedan on lease and was able to make it up the hill, just get a head start and go up steady. It rained on us on and off throughout those days so the platform was great, we fit a 3-man and 1-man tent easily on there. Extra firewood is available down the hill, and spending the humid afternoon by the stream was awesome, definitely would come back!

Great spot and close to the city!
We had a great time! The campsite was spacious, clean, and Mike was very helpful. There was running water to wash dishes and even an outdoor shower to rinse off. There was a lot of land to explore and we even took a dip in the stream nearby. It was only 1.5 hours from Brooklyn but felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. Would definitely recommend an all wheel drive vehicle to make it all the way to the campsite, but if you don’t, the walk is only 5 mins (but could be difficult if you’re carrying gear since it’s uphill). We’d definitely recommend this spot, just understand it isn’t glamming, but you still get some creature comforts.

Wonderful Weekend Getaway
Mike was very hospitable, offering for us to explore his 25 acres & walk along the stream to fish. We brought a tarp for rain cover since our weekend had some mild rainy weather one day, but there were also a tarp above one of the camping tent platforms which was a nice touch.

We had a great trip. Mike was a very prompt and clear communicator before the trip, and made it easy to get settled once we'd arrived. The location was lovely (would recommend the nearby hikes and the swimming hole). There were lots of places to choose for placing tents, firewood was made easy, and plenty of useful seating. There's water down by the house but none right at camp, so make sure to bring enough for drinking, hand washing, and dishes. We'd definitely come back and would recommend it to other campers!

Brothers camping trip
Mike is a nice guy and was quick to respond to all my questions leading up to the trip. The site is secluded yet close to a lot of things we stopped in Peekskill and went to the brewery we also hiked bear Mountain and there are other hikes very close as well. The campsite is up a steep dirt road so you have to be careful/have a 4 wheel drive car. You are really camping here with no power and an out house but that’s what we wanted. The location is really optimal for any activities you’d want to do in the area it was perfect for a quick guys weekend for us.

Great spot! And close to A+ hiking!
Great spot! The location is central to lots of excellent hiking; there's a tent platform + tarp for rain; and Mike has a fire pit and some firewood. (Warning: not necessarily dry! Our firestarting skills were tested.) There are a few things around that could use some TLC (e.g. the tent platform is sagging), and some people won't be psyched about the poop-into-a-bag outhouse setup, but it worked great for our needs. Mike is very friendly, and as a bonus, he allowed us to harvest a few of his delicious log-grown shiitake mushrooms for a meal. P.S. If you forgot anything, there are lots of places to shop just down the road.

Find me in the woods!
The campsite has a breathtaking view of the mountain! My friend and I visited the site when the temperature was below 35 (during the night, it was at around 25), but we were prepared so it was very fun! However, my car could not go up the hill because it was a steep hill with wet leaves. Other than that, I had no issues with the site and mike was a genuinely nice guy!
