Between glamping and roughing it
V cool place. Good vibes from the owners and the camps were decently outfitted. Perfect halfway point between “glamping” and “roughing it.” Excellent hiking and foraging in the area.

Great experience. We really liked the kitchen set up - they thought of everything to make your cooking easy...pots, utensils, foil etc. Also loved how you feel like you're in a tree house. The fairy lights and gas lamps are so pretty and lots of dry wood provided for excellent campfires. It's a well run operation and pickup/drop off were easy - we hiked the 2 hours both in and out with just our day packs, since they shlep your gear. Lastly you can't beat the great hiking and proximity to NYC.

Beautiful Sunset
The camp was great. No complaints whatsoever. Best for folks who don't have a car or gear. Dick and the staff were all great and helpful. Will be back again and will recommend to others. Overall it was a very good experience.
Aptly named "sunset campground" because you get to enjoy the beautiful the sunset over the Hudson.

Great staff
After getting to our campsite, I realized I forgot my tent in my car. (I know right?) I thought my trip was ruined. However, Dick was able to let me borrow one the tents that they had. He literally saved my trip. Every staff member on the campground was extremely nice and always willing to help. The campground itself is extremely clean and the hike was beautiful. I had an overall great experience and will definitely be coming back.

Everything you need!
Malouf's Mountain is a very well-kept campground with everything you need for your stay. The rustic sites are well spaced out for privacy. Be ready for a hike because there are many changes in elevation around the grounds. Nearby hiking is easily accessible offering great views and some historical points. Would love to come back again sometime!

Highly recommend!
We had such a great time at Malouf's! It's difficult to find a campground with primitive tent camping where the sites aren't right on top of each other, but these were just fine. You can still see some other campsites but there is plenty of privacy. Like many of the other reviews, the staff is phenomenal, everyone was welcoming, down to earth and just out right funny. We will definitely be back next year!
PS. Maybe we will remember to install your faucet for you then too! :-P Thanks for the laugh!

Will definitely return!
We will definitely be going back to Malouf’s Mountain Campground. The campground, sites, and amenities surpassed expectations and Dick and all of the staff were so friendly and accommodating. We biked up from NYC for a long weekend, so having the access to supplies for cooking made our travels easier. The bathhouse facilities were super clean and spacious. We hiked some of the local trails and spent time just relaxing at our site - a much needed break from the city!

Best campground I’ve ever stayed at...gear and firewood delivered to the spacious site. My six year old son marveled at how clean the bathroom and sinks were. And nearby hiking cannot be beaten. Will definitely go back!

Special shout out to Brian for his help getting our fire pit started!
Campsites are private and the communal areas are clean and social distancing is well organised.

I came here with my younger brother last year and thought it'd be the perfect place to go back to during the pandemic. I wasn't wrong. Can't imagine what anyone could possibly have to complain about Malouf's. Everyone who works here is great, the sites are kept shipshape, and they've risen up to social distancing measures with flying colors. Go camp here!

Our stay at Malouf's
Hi Folks! I will try and put as much helpful information in this review as possible!
Firstly, we had a great time, it was our first ‘hike in’ experience! Please note – when packing, your cooler can be no larger than 48 QT’s.
Parking at Beacon train station was easy. It’s an open, one level parking lot and we parked right across from the little bus shelter in space 809, where we waited with our camp gear. The Green Shuttle bus came on time as expected and dropped us off to Hike #2, the 2.5 hour hike. However, it took us 3.5hours because we stopped to take lots of pictures, stopped to eat our packed lunch and then it started to rain! So we took our time, especially because it was wet. We were glad to have our ponchos!
The hike is challenging, there are a lot of steep up and downs, but it was worth the journey into camp. We used the ‘all trails’ app on our phone which helped with the navigation.
We camped at site G2. The site is a lot smaller than we are used to, as our 10x10 tent just about fit! If you are bringing a tent bigger than this size, please check that it will fit on the site you are allocated. Our site was right next to the water spicket, which was nice. The site itself was well maintained, we had our own fire-pit, picnic table and a trash can was provided.
We were one of the closest sites to the very clean and well-kept bathhouse. Be prepared for the steep walk up and down to the bathhouse (this is for all sites), it definitely works those leg muscles!
We purchased firewood twice, we were there for 3 nights. There was also a big blue bucket under the bathhouse where we could help ourselves to some dry kindling, a nice touch. We also purchased beer and used the vending machine for some snacks. We were also able to charge our devices on the communal power strip at the bathhouse. Super convenient!
Watch out for the resident raccoon! Make sure you shut your trash cans tightly and put all items away securely. Our friendly ‘camp neighbors’ Ryan and Mariah, named him Reggie! We had a few visits from Reggie overnight, he even managed to unzip our camping duffle bag with his little claws and was caught in action!
The hikes around the site are challenging for sure, with steep inclines and rocky terrain. There are some nice views at Bald Hill, try look out into the very distance on a clear day, you can just about see an outline of NYC.
Overall we really enjoyed the hikes and our stay at Malouf’s. Everyone is super friendly, helpful and ready to answer any questions. We would recommend coming here for sure!

Overall, the camp was great! Amenities were really nice, bathrooms/showers were super clean, firewood and firestarter was a game changer. The only thing that I wish I had known before reserving was the logistics involved with getting to and from the train station to get my car (if we wanted to leave camp). There is a very convenient cab you can call, but that will cost $12 each way, or you can Uber/Lyft. If you're planning on staying at the camp and not leaving during your visit, then it's a great option.

It was a very cool experience. The platform sites are amazing and they offer everything you need. So no need to overpack. Two things I would like to point out to anyone coming for the first time: highly recommend hiking boots and hikes 2 and 3 are NOT easy. They are not impossible but they are far from a stroll in the park (especially 3). The staff is amazing. We had a good time.

This was a great option for anyone coming from NYC. It is easy to get up via metro north, you can rent any critical gear you don’t need, and you can order a cooler of food to the site. Good hiking and easy to get to Beacon if you’re interested in Dia or a day in town.
