We had an amazing time. At first look it seems close to the road but was not a problem at all. Matthew was great he came down and gave us some pointers on the best way to spend our time. The kids loved it also. No bugs, no people, no problems!

We camped at Tioga with our truck and trailer. You're on top of the world with 270+ degree views of the dramatic landscape that surrounds. There was enough room for our truck and trailer (about 40' combined), but you'd need good tires and 4WD because the hill up is steep, and the hill down is super steep. The tables are nice, and we enjoyed the meal we cooked up. The top of the hill is even flat enough to get some sports going. This place is great for someone who wants that amazing view, is going on a river trip with Sierra Mac, or who's friends book adjacent sites. This place isn't as good for someone who places a high value on shade or privacy.

4 nights at Red Tail Ranch at Yosemite

We very much enjoyed our 5 day stay at Red Tail Ranch! It was cute and quiet, and our spot had a beautiful view of an open, peaceful field. We have a 26’ travel trailer and there was plenty of room to maneuver and hook up. We work from the road and used Starlink, which was blazing fast every day. The two ranch dogs stopped by daily and were friendly to us and our dog. And we even had a mama and baby deer visit one morning! We visited Yosemite one of the days we were there and it was an easy, pleasant drive. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we hope to return next year!

Best privately owned campsite I’ve stayed at. People were super friendly and the location is great. Close enough to Groveland for supplies/food/beer and easy drive into Yosemite. Bathhouse is top notch here for a campsite. The ONLY thing that sucked, which the hosts have zero control over, was the wind at this site overnight. Kept me up both nights. So being earplugs or something of the sort.

Great spot for our 1 night stopover in our van. The area is a little too hot in the summer to really enjoy it IMO but the restrooms, showers, kitchen, and communal space are all REALLY nice to have and we used them all. Thanks!

We had a great stay at Robb’s place. Our first two nights the campground was fully booked (or close to it) but the sites are so well spaced you’d never know. It was quiet and we had plenty of space (far more than at some camps). The bathrooms were clean and well maintained and the outdoor shower was awesome. My kids loved it so much they actually wanted to shower. (If you’re a parent of young boys, you know this is not the norm!). The communal kitchen space was also a really nice feature. It was perfect for washing dishes and made clean up so much easier. We also had our two dogs so having access to the dog run area was amazing! Definitely recommend staying here if you want to be near the park but not in the park.

We so enjoyed the painted tent, a spacious and private site. Plenty of shade trees. The hosts were a pleasure to chat with and make you feel welcome. The road in is steep but well graded and was no problem for our VW van. The lake is beautiful and cool. The shoreline is rocky, have good water shoes. The animals are welcoming and the eggs appreciated.

Camp SourBerry was an excellent place to spend the evening before beginning my Yosemite adventure. The campsite was clean and the surroundings were beautiful. I also found it to be quiet and the right distance from town…not too far and not too close. The hosts were friendly, kind, and willing to answer my questions. I also sensed they genuinely cared for my well-being. It was so great to meet them and I would stay there again without any hesitation!

6 nights at Red Tail Ranch at Yosemite

Red Tail Ranch is very serene and is exactly as described. It’s the perfect base camp for visiting Yosemite (20 miles to Big Oak Flat Entrance) and river rafting the Tuolumne River! RV Site #1 is the ideal space with full hookups. My husband and I booked the spot for six nights. We felt safe leaving our trailer unattended for two days while we were on Tuolumne River. Robb is friendly and promptly answered any questions we had. Overall, I highly recommend Red Tail Ranch for all your camping needs.

We pride ourselves on blending nature and family camping in a safe, serene environment. We have one bathhouse with flushing toilets and heated showers; additional portables and vault toilets are located throughout the campground for convenience. Important notes: We are off-grid. There is no electricity in the campground with exception of a small solar powered system to operate our entry gate, guest Wi-Fi and intercom. Outlets are not available for guest use. All water is labeled non-potable. Guests may purify/filter at their discretion. Our campground is home to wildlife. You can minimize unwanted encounters by properly storing food and garbage. We have one central bathhouse with 3 flushing toilets. Sites vary in distance from a short walk to a short drive. The bathhouse has 4 shower stalls in the rear of the building. The bathhouse is closed from 10pm to 8am. The bathhouse does not have electricity or interior lighting. Our Hacienda section ("H" Sites) has vault toilets. Portables are located throughout the campground for your convenience. There is minimal privacy from other campers due to the placement of the sites and the way our trees and vegetation is trimmed for fire resistance. Sharing my life and property with rescued animals has become a full time job full of joy and lessons learned. What great teachers they are. I began to share the experiences with my animals by offering a unique farm tour called coffee with Critters and I find that I really enjoy sharing this lifestyle with like minded folk. If you love animals and want to camp near them please join me. Learn more about this land: Your campsite will be nestled among animal enclosures, listen to the munching of hay or the snorting of the horse. Your stay will include a modified animal tour and you can engage with horse, goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks and more... dogs and cats of course ;). I have a couple of spots but I would be flexible regarding campsite. My toilet is a compost toilet. The outside shower has been upgraded with privacy curtains etc following suggetions from previous campers ;) I have a million $$ view and a modest house. My house is about 45 minutes from the Yosemite park entrance and it's an easy commute back/forth. Flowering vines cover my outdoor porches where we have big dinners when Wwoofers or Couchsurfers are in residence. The property is home to many animals, horse, goats, pigs, chickens, peacocks, rabbits, guinea pigs - dogs & cats - of course! :-) . The roosters wake us up pretty early so fair warning about that - but I love living with them and it makes the property so much more friendly with all the critters. My house is pet friendly and yours are welcome if they are 1. Fixed, 2. Are social and friendly with my pets, 3. Will not chase the cats and chickens. I can babysit your pups if you go to the park - provided they are compliant with rules above. I work from home. There are loads of trails nearby and 2 pretty ponds and plenty of wildlife, deer, turkeys and more. The property is rolling hills however there are plenty of flat areas for tents. NO FIRES PERMITTED ANYWHERE ON MY PROPERTY APRIL-OCTOBER - non negotiable.

It's space to find your peace of mind and pitch a tent or hammock, as you would when hiking the backcountry. Aside from complimentary ice water, potty, shower, soaps, sanitizer, sunscreen, first aid, communal fire pit, wood stove and dishwashing area) this is not "glamping". If you are a person who appreciates nature and making due with what the land has provided, then we are a great fit. Guests have 20 acres to find a secluded, or socially distanced spot to pitch camp. This is for people that know how to camp in the backcountry - Without a trash can, who don’t leave cigarette butts, respect the land and would rather not be sectioned off. Flat areas are all over if you explore, and use your feet to brush aside rocks and twigs, to lay down a tent base, as we do every time we camp in the backcountry. The geography of these mountains is just that, hills and mountains. The vista at the top of the property is gorgeous and easily camps 5 tents spaced out. The property does offer many other great camping areas, and I’m more than happy to point them out. Yosemite is 30 minutes away, Don Pedro lake is 30 minutes, Cherry Lake is 30 minutes, Preston falls and Carlon falls are both 30 min away. Downtown Groveland Is 7 minutes away, and other historic towns are not too far. Close to many swimming holes. Rainbow pools is 15 minutes away. 10 min from the local grocery store and other local shops. Base Camp is just off of highway 120.
