This is great option for those who like to bring all their own gear to camp, and don’t need or want all the extras. Our new Primitive Adventures campsites are located on an established 5-star property. It’s a peaceful, secluded and private country estate. The 20 acre property starts out flat and then gentle to moderate sloped hillside with coastal live oak trees, eucalyptus trees, pine trees, meadows and many interesting landscape features nestled between the vast farmlands of North Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties.
We are 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The weather is usually mild here and we have cool evenings. We do get days that are in the 90s sometimes in the summer and early fall, but we also have lots of shade with all the trees. There is wildlife like deer, turkeys and owls and so much more. We have horses and a donkey, separate from the campsites, so no flies or smell from them. We provide one hot water shower and there are 3 outhouse style toilets on the grounds.
There is NO running water at the sites so we suggest you bring your own drinking water. There will be limited water provided for hand/dish washing.
We are a pack it in/pack it out campground so please, be mindful of waste as we ask that you take it out with you.
You may forage for plentiful eucalyptus and oak firewood for free, or pre-cut pine is available for purchase. Most of our weekends are fully booked at our Rustic Campsites already, so here is another chance to have yourself a weekend camping trip at our new Primitive Adventures campsites. We loved this place. It’s super close to the beach (walking distance) and it was super quiet. You don’t need A/C here (we stayed in mid June) so the 20AMP power was more than enough for the needs of our 31’ motorhome.
I’m sure we’ll want to stay here again in the future.

This tiny 5-site camping area is unique in that it is surrounded by vineyards and reached through a gate (code provided to guests) then a very narrow private road. It is an adventure just getting there.
It was very hot when I stayed, 98° F (37° Celsius), which probably explains why I was the only camper. The host, Phil, came by to greet me and answer questions soon after I arrived. The temperature dropped as the sun neared the horizon and I enjoyed walking around a bit, wandering through the grounds of the adjacent inn.
The campsites are just level places to park, my van was perfect. It was very quiet and nobody came near me. The peacefulness and privacy was just what I wanted.
This campsite is located halfway up the Gabilan Range, between the Salinas Valley and Pinnacles National Park. Some of the Pinnacles are in view, but the real view is of the Chalone Peaks (within the park) in one direction and the Sierra de Salinas in the other. There was fog in the valley below and a clear sky at sunset. I plan to go back, to experience a different season, maybe harvest time.

Ray and Robin are some of the kindest, most hospitable hosts! My husband and I stayed here for two nights with our pup and had the best time. The views of the strawberry fields are beautiful and our hosts were nice enough to recomendó some places to visit in the area and even resupplied our firewood while we were out. We would absolutely stay here again!

Robyn and Ray were friendly and welcoming! They provided suggestions as to where to eat locally and along our route. Every suggestion was perfect! They really took care of us, and we loved relaxing by a bonfire (they provided wood!) in the evening, and their fresh eggs were delicious!

Beautiful place with friendly hosts. I was able to hit the west gate soon after the park opened and I got a great spot at the trailhead. Host was friendly and helpful, great communication and flexibility to make sure I had a pleasant stay.

Robin and Ray are amazing hosts! A wheelbarrow of wood was included and fresh farm eggs! The view of the valley was beautiful and serene. And the beach is a short walk. Everything was great!
One thing to note - the place is next to a road that was somewhat busy although not as many cars passing by late at night/early AM.

We had a great stay! Robin came to greet us when we arrived, and everything was easy to find. The view was absolutely beautiful.
It was so nice not having to worry about firewood — Robin provided us with a wagon full, and it burned perfectly throughout our stay. We usually don’t leave camp, but we felt safe and comfortable enough to explore, and the beach was just steps away.

Great for a small NP
A small but nice NP. The caves and reservoir trails were challenging but beautiful. You have to pick a side to enter as the road doesn't connect through the whole park.
Bring adequate water and electrolytes if you hike in the heat 🥵. There are public showers on site so it was nice to wash off after a hike. The store is well stocked and reasonable.
A great weekend park with amazing volcanic rocks, fault lines, and some high peaks with great views.

Very nice park. Quite a small park when compared to other national parks. We hiked 95 percent of the trails in one day. We did not hike the 7 mile loop but 16 miles in a day was enough.

Hiked High Peaks and Bear Gulch loop. A little over 8 miles and steep in some areas. Lovely views and wonderful hike. Get to lot on the early side, it fills up fast.

Pinnacles is an underrated National Park to visit with unique geological formations like caves. The park itself is small but there’s enough to do outdoors to keep you occupied. We didn’t catch a California Condor so we hope to next time around.

Make sure to come early to make the most of what Pinnacles has to offer. Watch where you step, but keep your head up. Bring water, a flashlight, sturdy shoes, and sun protection. If you’re going for a day hike, drive further in to make the trip more leisurely and take in the sights more.

This is one of my favorite nearby parks to see the stars and meteors showers! This is a great place to go during the cool season, they sometimes have shuttles from the campgrounds to the trailheads.

While campground in park it's not really close to most poi in park.
Sites further from entrance may have large vehicle access issues so planning accordingly we stayed in a dry site but there are some with hookups but that section is very parking lot like. There are also cabins. Has shower and pool
