Site 3 Big picnic table.
Very nice hosts and the site is very remote allowing for excellent viewing of the stars. That said, the site itself has a lot of opportunity - the campsite was loaded with small thorny bushes (seemed that every one of the family at some point caught a thorn in their foot/ankle). As noted in a prior post site 3 and 4 are somewhat level, but sites 1 and 2 are not level.

Convenient but littered
This was a convenient site for driving to other spots like Lake Nacimiento and Paso Robles. Unfortunately, the toilets were extremely dirty and the "hiking trail" was littered with broken glass, rusty metal, and shot-out cans. There also wasn't clear signage as to where the campsite ended and private property began.

We were in the middle of our road trip when we realized we needed a place to stay for the night. I found Andrea and Baggers “our happy place” and thought whyyy not. When we arrived it was dark but the place was clean, had a light to direct us to our campsite and it was beautiful camping in a secluded area. Definitely will stop again! Thank you guys for a easy place to camp!

A nice escape to relax and reset. No cell service and it was great to put the cell phone away for the night and spend time with the around the camp fire. Also saw some wild Turkey!

Great spot! Loved the quiet and beautiful surroundings. Will definitely want to go back. Found sites 3 & 4 to be more level for my truck camper than 1 & 2. All were good though. No cell reception on my verizon phone at the camp. I liked the digital detox but would suggest people download their digital maps prior to arrival.

First time camping
I picked spot number 2 for the tree, chiminea, and picnic table. It was nice and private as I was the only one to book on Thanksgiving. I met one of the dogs who made my mini doxie feel right at home. I car camped in my Subi and it was so convenient to have the picnic table. Unfortunate we had to leave early as my dog wasn't feeling too well (ended up having a uti) which was totally unrelated to the camp site. Otherwise it was a nice and clean spot. I will definitely return.

Great camp. Site. Nice host that give you space. Old smaller oak groves surround with a hike. Each spot has an old iron stove wich is great and thehost will supply more wood if needed. We stayed at campsite 2 which has the only develped oak try. I would stay away from campsite 1 as the the grade is rather steep. 3 and 4 for sure if you have trailers. Tent campers be warned the terrain is pretty gravelly. All ans all a great time and the trail by the front gate is worth a hike!

Nice spot! Plenty of room for our cars and tents. Our spot was on an incline but it was manageable. Amazing night sky with no lights near by and located in a valley blocking lights from both sides. Super clean portapoty! Thanks so much for hosting us!

We will be back!
Perfect place to set up shop for a long weekend. We took day trips to Lake Nascimento to paddleboard, and Pasa Robles to go to the delicious brewery, and the Cambria to walk around the cute shops! We also highly recommend going to the free wine tasting near the Lockwood market, Marin’s Vineyard! We lucked out and chose camping spots for three and four and we’re traveling with a 32 foot RV and a tent and an SUV, those campsites are flatter than one and two, if traveling with an RV this could be of interest! Thank you so much for the hosts!!! We will be back!

Site 3 Big picnic table.
Meh. The ground was really uneven and rocky, and we struggled to find a place to put our tent. Each site had different things, and only one had a picnic table. The porta-potty needed some attention, too. It was quiet and worked as a place to sleep, but it wasn't very pretty. Not terrible or anything, but it wasn't anything special.

This was a great spot to set up camp for a couple nights. We saw one other camper there but the sites are far enough apart it felt very private and the porta potty was probably the cleanest I’ve ever seen.

OUR HAPPY BACK 40, Shuttle or Hike
The Stars!
Last minute gem but well worth the find! The host, including the dog, were more than friendly and accommodating. We got lost so ended up arriving after sundown, nerve wrecking but eventually found the location. This spot is perfect for stargazing and bird watching. BACK 40 is a short hike away from your car and spots are spaced so you truly have privacy. I'd suggest you use GOOGLE MAPS because any other mapping app gets you lost! (i.e. Apple maps, Waze). Overall, our small group had a great time relaxing, watching the stars and have plans on returning!!

OUR HAPPY BACK 40, Shuttle or Hike
Scenic, Peaceful, & Remote
We loved our stay in the Happy Back 40. It was such a serene setting with tons of space, it truly felt like we had it all to ourselves. This was due to the fact that you have to trek uphill to the site. Personally, I felt this allowed us a more private, and fulfilling camping experience. If you have a lot of gear, I'd take them up on the shuttle service. The fee is small, and totally worth it!

OUR HAPPY BACK 40, Shuttle or Hike
Beautiful stars at night
I booked this place last minute as a Hail Mary because it was Memorial Day weekend and all other campsites were booked up. To say the least, this was a great find! The skies were beautiful at night— star gazing is a must! Even the drive to and from the property was amazing during the morning and sunset. I parked behind the green gate as instructed. To get to Back40, you will need to head back out the green gate after parking and hike up the other side of the property for about half a mile or so. I had some trouble finding back40 so I had to ask the hosts— they were very friendly and funny! Their dogs were very cute as well. The hike is actually steeper than you’d expect and rocky so be careful. They offer a “shuttle” service to bring up all your camp gear so you don’t have to struggle. The service is well worth it for those who dont pack so light, have heavy gear or, just too lazy to take multiple trips up and down the property during hot weathers like me haha. I had a lot of fun here and would definitely come back again. A big thank you to the amazing hosts for sharing their beautiful property!

Great long weekend spot
Great spot and pleasantly surprised that we were able to book last minute on a holiday weekend! Friendly, responsive owner. Easy to find and well marked. Bought some yummy eggs. Clean port-a-potty at the base, near the cars. Short “hike” up to the campsite. We were only staying for 2 nights and are pretty fit so we opted to carry our stuff. It worked out great. Secluded with a nice metal grill for log burning.

Perfect stay over
What an incredible stay we had here! It is in a super secluded little lot with a beautiful view. It was a great location to spend the night before heading to the Bay Area. We were happily greeted upon arrival and we bought some amazing farm fresh eggs for breakfast the next morning. The fire pits were great and the host graciously gifted us some extra firewood to enjoy the evening. No cell reception but allowed us to enjoy the beauty.
