Sunset village cabins have access to a bathhouse with designated full baths with private shower and bathroom for each cabin. Each cabin has power and one queen bed and two twin beds (max 4 ppl)
Like tent camping without the hassle of having to set up a tent.
You bring your sleeping bag, bedding and towels. Or we can provide you with a bedding/towel pack for an extra cost.

They are about 300 feet apart and not easily visible from each other. Property is fully fenced; both sites are next to an open field under the oaks with vineyard, olive orchard and mountain views. This property is 30 miles from Paso Robles and almost perfectly centered between Missions San Antonio and San Miguel. Lakes San Antonio and Nacimiento are close by. Coastal towns of Cayucos and Morro Bay are about an hour scenic drive, passing many wineries along the way. There is space for multiple RVs or additional tents sharing your party's RV restroom facilities. Site one will accommodate sixteen people and multiple vehicles. Site two will accommodate ten people and two vehicles. For larger groups we ask that that you book both sites. We have hosted many family reunions and the feedback has been 100% positive. Rural Southern Monterey County hilltop with 360° views of the surrounding valley. To the west is an unobstructed view of the Los Padres National forest, sunsets over the coast ridge from Junipero Serra peak to the north and Rocky Butte to the south. To the east is Williams Hill BLM area, with clear views of the sunrise. To the southeast is Lake San Antonio. Nacimiento Lake is a beautiful 45 minute drive to the south. Although the dirt access road can be a little dusty and bumpy for a sports car, in the 35 years I've been here it has always been accessible for a 2 wheel drive vehicle. The property is at the end of the road. No traffic, no noise, only views of the surrounding area. If you are interested in night skies, the milky way is a constant. After winter rains, everything is green and wild flowers are abundant. Stay and enjoy the vistas or travel relatively short distances for hiking in the Los Padres forest, drive CA HWY 1, visit Paso Robles wineries, boat or fish at Lake San Antonio or Lake Nacimiento. Nearby Williams Hill BLM area for hunting, shooting or ATV riding. For hunters and fisherman, Ft Hunter Liggett is to the immediate west. Occasional weekend's be entertained by military training and occasional aircraft, helicopters and planes. It is so quiet that you can hear vehicles passing several miles away on Jolon Rd in the valley below. Visitors travel to Morro bay, Avila beach to the south or Big Sur and Monterey Bay to the north. Motorcycle enthusiasts can enjoy 100's of miles of uncrowded country roads. Host is an avid motorcyclist and will provide enough helpful guidance for all levels of riding. Corbin saddle in Hollister is a great destination for lunch and a custom made seat by appointment. Getaway to the central coast of California and leave the city behind. San Francisco is a bit over 2 hours to the north and LA about 4 hours to the south. Owner has intimate knowledge of way to many destinations.

Centrally located between Carmel and the Heart of Big Sur. On a paved road with quick and easy access to Hwy 1. Adorable little cabin in the redwoods, with upstairs lofted sleeping area (double bed), sleeps 2 people. Kitchen, stove, mini fridge, and private bath. The stairs are very steep to the loft, with an open railing upstairs. Please review pics before booking. Adults only.

Our cabin is in the Santa Lucia mountains and immersed in nature. Please be aware that wildlife is a part of the rugged Big Sur Coast and mountains. Wildlife encounters are something that is not out of the ordinary. From raccoons, skunks, deer, mountain lions, bats, mice, spiders, snakes, and all types of birds. We have exceeded measures to keep occurrences to a minimum and have monthly pest control services. BUT can't guarantee you will not be met with wildlife. ANY ENCOUNTERS DURING YOUR STAY WILL NOT BE ISSUED A REFUND. If you do not feel comfortable with the paragraph, then please do not book our cabins. Recommendations in Big Sur are Ventana Inn, Post Ranch, or something in Carmel or Monterey.

Under 50 lbs. Must be leashed, picked up after, not allowed on furniture, or left alone. Not allowed in the lofted sleeping area, due to the stairs and open railings. Not safe for animals! If you have a hairy dog, please keep the hair swept and under control. It is not fair for our cleaners to do de-fur the cabin. We allow dogs as a wonderful courtesy and don't want them abused.
There is NO cell reception in our area due to the mountain range. You lose reception once you leave Carmel and head south, or leave Big Sur and travel north to the property.
WIFI is available but can be intermittent due to the rural location. Text and wifi available, no cell reception, once logged into our internet. INTERNET IS NOT GUARANTEED DURING YOUR STAY.
At the beginning of our road, it has a "road closed" sign. You CAN get to our cabin. Our road is residential and a dead end. So there is no need to go past our cabin. All hiking and sightseeing is along Hwy 1.

Most campsites are accessible by car and all campsites are accessible by foot.
PLEASE NOTE, we do not have a traditional check in procedure. Campsites are first come first serve. Expect a "self-check in process" most of the time. However, there are sometimes people working onsite that you may run into, that are happy to help and lead you in the right direction.
You choose your own campsite so plan to arrive early. You can park and walk around. There is signage that says "CAMP" with Arrows.
BYO water. We have sulfur spring water. Great for your skin, not good to drink!
There's a couple outhouses on the property. One in the main camp zone, one at the far north end of the lower Redwood campsite.
You can also bring a shovel and take a walk if you're in the more remote campsites.
We have a dumpster outside the gate for your garbage.

They are about 300 feet apart and not easily visible from each other. Property is fully fenced; both sites are next to an open field under the oaks with vineyard, olive orchard and mountain views. This property is 30 miles from Paso Robles and almost perfectly centered between Missions San Antonio and San Miguel. Lakes San Antonio and Nacimiento are close by. Coastal towns of Cayucos and Morro Bay are about an hour scenic drive, passing many wineries along the way. There is space for multiple RVs or additional tents sharing your party's RV restroom facilities. Site one will accommodate sixteen people and multiple vehicles. Site two will accommodate ten people and two vehicles. For larger groups we ask that that you book both sites. We have hosted many family reunions and the feedback has been 100% positive. Just 6 miles from the Arroyo Seco Campground, Lavender Creek is a 70-acre sanctuary filled with valley views, oak-covered hills, and a seasonal creek that winds along a bluff face glowing gold at sunset.
Lavender Creek is also a small, family-run lavender farm that began as a personal story and a passion for sharing the healing benefits of lavender. Each June, our culinary variety of English lavender blooms across nearly two acres visible from the road. We host visitors for U-pick and teach them how to dry lavender at home and cook with it as well.

Rural Southern Monterey County hilltop with 360° views of the surrounding valley. To the west is an unobstructed view of the Los Padres National forest, sunsets over the coast ridge from Junipero Serra peak to the north and Rocky Butte to the south. To the east is Williams Hill BLM area, with clear views of the sunrise. To the southeast is Lake San Antonio. Nacimiento Lake is a beautiful 45 minute drive to the south. Although the dirt access road can be a little dusty and bumpy for a sports car, in the 35 years I've been here it has always been accessible for a 2 wheel drive vehicle. The property is at the end of the road. No traffic, no noise, only views of the surrounding area. If you are interested in night skies, the milky way is a constant. After winter rains, everything is green and wild flowers are abundant. Stay and enjoy the vistas or travel relatively short distances for hiking in the Los Padres forest, drive CA HWY 1, visit Paso Robles wineries, boat or fish at Lake San Antonio or Lake Nacimiento. Nearby Williams Hill BLM area for hunting, shooting or ATV riding. For hunters and fisherman, Ft Hunter Liggett is to the immediate west. Occasional weekend's be entertained by military training and occasional aircraft, helicopters and planes. It is so quiet that you can hear vehicles passing several miles away on Jolon Rd in the valley below. Visitors travel to Morro bay, Avila beach to the south or Big Sur and Monterey Bay to the north. Motorcycle enthusiasts can enjoy 100's of miles of uncrowded country roads. Host is an avid motorcyclist and will provide enough helpful guidance for all levels of riding. Corbin saddle in Hollister is a great destination for lunch and a custom made seat by appointment. Getaway to the central coast of California and leave the city behind. San Francisco is a bit over 2 hours to the north and LA about 4 hours to the south. Owner has intimate knowledge of way to many destinations.

Centrally located between Carmel and the Heart of Big Sur. On a paved road with quick and easy access to Hwy 1. Adorable little cabin in the redwoods, with upstairs lofted sleeping area (double bed), sleeps 2 people. Kitchen, stove, mini fridge, and private bath. The stairs are very steep to the loft, with an open railing upstairs. Please review pics before booking. Adults only.

Our cabin is in the Santa Lucia mountains and immersed in nature. Please be aware that wildlife is a part of the rugged Big Sur Coast and mountains. Wildlife encounters are something that is not out of the ordinary. From raccoons, skunks, deer, mountain lions, bats, mice, spiders, snakes, and all types of birds. We have exceeded measures to keep occurrences to a minimum and have monthly pest control services. BUT can't guarantee you will not be met with wildlife. ANY ENCOUNTERS DURING YOUR STAY WILL NOT BE ISSUED A REFUND. If you do not feel comfortable with the paragraph, then please do not book our cabins. Recommendations in Big Sur are Ventana Inn, Post Ranch, or something in Carmel or Monterey.

Under 50 lbs. Must be leashed, picked up after, not allowed on furniture, or left alone. Not allowed in the lofted sleeping area, due to the stairs and open railings. Not safe for animals! If you have a hairy dog, please keep the hair swept and under control. It is not fair for our cleaners to do de-fur the cabin. We allow dogs as a wonderful courtesy and don't want them abused.
There is NO cell reception in our area due to the mountain range. You lose reception once you leave Carmel and head south, or leave Big Sur and travel north to the property.
WIFI is available but can be intermittent due to the rural location. Text and wifi available, no cell reception, once logged into our internet. INTERNET IS NOT GUARANTEED DURING YOUR STAY.
At the beginning of our road, it has a "road closed" sign. You CAN get to our cabin. Our road is residential and a dead end. So there is no need to go past our cabin. All hiking and sightseeing is along Hwy 1.

we absolutely loved this campsite. we stayed at redwood cabin on the top of the hill. from the most low-key and private “glamping” we could have hoped for booking last minute- and couldn’t find anywhere else. you wake up to see the ocean, to hawks and a beautiful breeze. the fire pit and kitchen were everything we needed. the property is quaint and intentional.
we got in at night so the detailed instructions were much appreciated. brought our dog and she loved it. gene and his son umi were good company. we will be back!

One of my top favorite, if not favorite places I’ve ever camped. There’s so much charm and love that goes into this farm and property. I highly suggest this place as a destination and not just a place to stop through. Pictures don’t even do it justice. I always feel safe as a female camper here and everyone is so friendly, even the animals. Camp host even brings firewood and starts the fire. He’s the best!

The camping site we picked was right by the river. I didn’t realize that you just show up and find a spot to camp, but luckily for us there was someone that let us know. We didn’t explore the camping grounds but we used the little trail to walk down to the beach and watch the sunset.
The camping site had a lot of overgrown grass/weeds but regardless it was a very pleasant stay. I would recommend and come back!

Great communication from host and directions to the site were right on the money.
We camped there in our 25' RV - I sure wouldn't take anything bigger up that road and driveway. It is winding and barely wide enough to pass in many spots.
No cell service and Starlink wasn't stable because of the heavy canopy.

By far the best car camping experience we have ever had. Kristine and the entire team were fabulous - extremely responsive with great instructions before arriving and so genuinely friendly once we arrived. The property is literally minutes from the west gate of pinnacles (unheard of given how remote the park is), and feels like you are already in the park. Vineyards one direction and the mountains and pinnacles the other - we saw four outstanding sunrises/sunsets in just two days. We walked the vineyards and got to learn about the history of the winery from the owners and staff who were on site while we were there - all were incredibly kind and welcomed us like family. About
Explore the rugged beauty of the south Big Sur Coast, coastal redwoods, and one of the steepest coastal canyons in the country, largely away from the crowds, at Limekiln State Park. Highlights include a small rock and sand beach, cascading creeks, hiking trails through redwood lined canyons that lead to a 100-foot waterfall, the remnants of four historic limekiln furnaces, and stunning coastal views. Fall asleep to the sound of the surf or wake up to a view of the redwoods—the park’s campground offers nine developed campsites near a beach or among the redwoods along Limekiln Creek.
Notable Camping Spots
- Best for beach lovers: The Limekiln Campground offers 16 campsites at its Ocean Sites near a bridge, and the closest access to the beach.
- Best for RVs: Campsites 1 through 12 at the Ocean Sites are the only sites where RVs can camp. RVs are limited to 24 feet and trailers to 15 feet.
- Best for ten campers and hikers: Campsites 17 to 29 at the Redwood Sites are for tent campers only, with campsites 21 to 25 the closest to the hiking trails.
Tips for snagging a campsite
- Reserve a campsite as soon as you know your dates, especially over the summer. Sites can be reserved at least two days and up to six months in advance.
- If your plans are flexible, try to visit during the week, during non-holiday periods, or over winter.
- If you don’t have reservations, plan to show up early in the morning to see if there are any unreserved sites available.
When to go
Spring, summer, and fall are the most popular times at the park, with the peak over summer when weekends are especially popular and campsites book up well in advance. Expect fog in the mornings even in summer, look for migrating whales in winter, and spot wildflowers in spring.
Know before you go
- Be cautious near the ocean, as dangers include strong currents and unexpectedly large surf. There are no lifeguards on duty.
- Do not climb the coastal cliffs or the walls of Limekiln Canyon. Stay on trails and watch out for poison oak.
- Fires are limited to designated fire rings. Firewood is available for purchase—do not gather down or dead wood.
- Dogs are not permitted on the beach or trails. They must be leashed and stay indoors at night.
- Bring binoculars! Plenty of wildlife and more than 200 species of birds can be found in the area.
- Stream fishing is not permitted. Surf fishing is allowed, though it can be difficult and all anglers 16 and older need a fishing license.

Nothing short of magic. We got very lucky and last-minute booked a beachside campsite, which was nestled in between the ocean and stream that runs through the campground. The white noise was so peaceful and waking up next to the beach in Big Sur is an otherworldly experience. The amenities were clean + up to date and the camp hosts were awesome!

Magic. This is FernGully. I highly recommend staying a night here to break up a Big Sur destination if you’re headed from SoCal. The tucked away lush hikes are fun and playful. Little waterfalls and fun tree bridges crossing small streams make it feel like a fairy tale. We stayed closest to the ocean which lulled me to sleep both nights we stayed. This ground offers some of the best nature has to offer. The ocean side is a little more “parking lot” although 1-3 sites are great. But the ocean steps away is worth it. The sites further inland are really beautiful. It’s like Lord of the Rings back there. Shoot for site 29.

I book Ocean site #4 for an early Sept weekend. Mainly because it was the only site available through a cancellation so I was lucky to even get it for a more or less last minute anniversary camping trip. I'm worried it might be too windy/ exposed. Anyone stay on the ocean side camp sites have any feedback on that? I mainly ask since we have a 1 year old! Though I actually think the proximity to the ocean will be helpful for her to sleep - she has an ocean sound white noise machine anyway - wa la! The whole area seems great for a quick family trip though....

My wife and I was the manager of limekiln in the late 90s when it was private owned. It still looks close to the same. We did not have the the bridges, you either crossed the Creek on logs jumped or got your get wet. We ran it for 3 years. Wish we were still there.

We stayed at a site near the creek in the forested area. There's lots of wildlife to see in the forest and it's an easy walk to the beach for sunset! We saw many deer at our site and even a whale during sunset! This campground really is a all-in-one for Big Sur. The hike trail was clearly marked. You could wade through crystal clear creeks, which I always enjoy doing in my chacos. The trail was adventurous without being difficult and cleverly made-super enjoyable hike. Of course, the waterfall at the end was wonderfully rewarding as well.

There are two options for this site: wooded camp sites and beach front campsites. The beach front is nestled right in between the beach and a small river, which was lovely to fall asleep to!

I loved this campsite. There's a variety on camping spots throughout the park. If you like the beach you can camp closer to the beach, and if you like to be tucked away under soaring Redwoods you have that option, too. There's a beautiful stream that runs through the campsite, and meets at the roaring waves of the Pacific Coast. This is definitely one to check off your list!

We stayed at the Ocean beach front site. We initially had site #5 but we traded with a huge family who had #4 because they had 6,7, and 8 lol. We didn't mind because we actually thought the view was better. We totally lucked out because the weather was nice and most of the "to do" things around big sur wasn't as crowded as it usually would be since the road's are still closed. It was awesome just driving with no one on the road/at super popular spots which made it much more enjoyable ya know?! hehehe.
On the way out we saw the other side of the sit which was a little more woody- would love to try that out.

Make sure to check out the waterfalls and feel free to explore the path less traveled. With beach access as well, this is a great spot. It's a big campground and the campsites are pretty close together.

I grew up in a small town just south of Limekiln, and camped here frequently as a young person. I went back with my husband on a recent trip and while it was as beautiful as I remember, it was also very cramped. Being people who like to have privacy and often find out-of-the-way spots, this campground does not offer that. We got the last site and it was on the beach. It's not private at all, but you are right next to the ocean, so it was ok. The vibe was very friendly and the walk through the redwoods is worth the expensive night (40-ish bucks) for camping. Site 29 is by far the best spot in the whole place. Because I camped here as a kid, it will always be magical to me!

My favorite place to camp. Waterfall, beach, ruins, redwoods, absolute perfection. Securing a weekend campsite in the summer is nearly impossible though.

What an incredible place. Friendly staff, clean restrooms and showers, and no reception. We stayed in the little section of four sites along the river (site 15 to be specific) at the end of January and loved it. Nice and secluded, compared to the sites up in the Redwoods; sites above seemed rather exposed and close to neighbors.
Definitely book far, far in advance as this place books up quick! We felt lucky to have the campground to ourselves (mudslides caused the HWY 1 to close down from both directions; a camp host text us letting us know and gave us an alternate route).
The walkable beach access was amazing, and the contrast of the woods and the beach was magical.
We will be back!

Highly recommend this camp ground for both small and large groups. If you're in a large group be sure to pay the extra and get two camp spots for the car parking. Sites #24 and #25 are the ones we had. #24 is the largest we had and next to trail head. Others seemed very small but good for two people / small tents. Site #29 has a really cool three-tiered element to it that allows you to park at the bottom, cook on a 2nd flat section, and put your tents on a 3rd flat area. I'll probably try to book that one next time. Awesome trails nearby that are short and beginner friendly but also have access to the CA Coastal Trail from the camp ground.
Had to take Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd due to closures on HWY 1. Good alternate route though.

The area is beautiful. My review is specific to the camping context.
Looking at the photos, the sites look amazing, but they're actually quite cramped. While our site (#27) looked private on the reservation site, it was not. This was true of several other sites nearby as well. No one in the vicinity had any privacy. The map on the reservation site is *very* deceptive. The yellow is not a road: it's the boundary of the campsite, with most of the area inside the boundary being a road. I've camped many places, and I doubt I'll return to this campground. Also, be aware that a 2nd car requires a $10 extra per night charge, which we didn't learn until we arrived, despite having registered two vehicles for our site during the reservation.

Camp host is amazing and very friendly. Showers/bathrooms are great and close by. Campsites are very close together so you will hear if anyone is having a party at night. Overall, it's a beautiful campsite and great alternative if you cannot get a spot in Big Sur. You can drive and hike Pfeiffer during the day, there was even a family next to us who would surf during the days. We booked 1 week prior and got a spot no problem.

If you're looking for beach + secluded forest + great (short) trails in one place, Limekiln has it all.
From the top of the redwoods loop (near sites 23/24) down to the beach is maybe a 5 minute walk, but feels like two totally different worlds. The creek behind the campsites is crystal clear (and cold) water, which is wildly refreshing after spending some time on the beach, even in late September. When we visited earlier this week, the creek was flowing nicely and gave the perfect soundtrack for the best night's sleep on our trip.
Plenty of wildlife - we saw deer, Steller's Jays, and sea lions bobbing in the ocean at sunset. Absolutely beautiful park. We'll definitely be back!
