Private RV campground in the Gold Country. Located in the historic townsite of Columbia known as the "Gem of the Southern Mines". There is 1 site so you'll have the campground to yourselves. There are 2 electrical panels so you can bring your family or friends if you like. If there are 2 RV's you can reserve the campground as a double site. We only accept fully self contained RV's & trailers. Campsite has 2 electric pedestals 50/30/110. Water hookups. No sewer. NO RESTROOMS AVAILABLE. Includes picnic table, camp fire ring, Weber BBQ, doggie station, horseshoe pit, corn hole, walking trails, and garbage/recycle bins. Winter camping dates subject to weather conditions. Located 0.6 mile to Columbia State Historic Park, parking and entrance is free and open year around. It is about a 15 minute walk. Close to Murphys, New Melones lake and Tuttletown recreation area, Moaning Caverns, Downtown Sonora, Mother Lode Escape Rooms, Columbia Airport, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park, Black Oak Casino, Chicken Ranch Casino, Indigeny Reserve, Inner Sanctum Cellars Basecamp with other wineries and breweries nearby. About a 50 minute drive to Big Trees State Park and Pinecrest Lake. Yosemite National Park is about 1-1/2 hour drive to the Yosemite valley floor. Check for YARTS for transportation from downtown Sonora to Yosemite valley. There are several rafting outfitters in the area. Restaurants in the immediate vicinity include Mandy's Breakfast-Lunch, Columbia Frosty, El Jardin, St. Charles Saloon Pizza. Gas, diesel mini mart, market store nearby.

Squirrel Rock RV Campground-Single

Attention to details!

This a special little place that would be perfect for a little family or friend reunion, although it was just my husband and I for a couple of nights. It is a short walk over to a great breakfast place , Mandy’s, which we loved starting our days out after eating there. Five minute drive to Columbia St Park, 15 minutes to downtown Sonora, and we really enjoyed cider tasting at Indigeny - lovely place! There is so much to do around the area. Squirrel Rock is right next to the Columbia Airport, but the sounds of small planes and helicopters didn’t bother us- we didn’t hear any after sunset. We would recommend to others and would stay there again. We appreciated Julie’s attention to details: clean garbage and recycling cans, clean tablecloth on picnic table, solar party lights, firepit, games in weather protected chest and cornhole and horseshoe pit!

10/10 Recommend!

Beautiful camp ground! Julie is extremely nice and makes sure you have the best experience possible. Regardless of getting a little snow, my kids had a blast and we will definitely be back again. We had a 26 and a 28 FT trailer in the camp ground.

Beautiful Spot

This site is very well kept, beautiful spot. It felt like we were far away but we were walking distance from Columbia State Park. Host was friendly and offered helpful suggestions for things to see and places to eat.

Squirrel rock ROCKS!

Amazing spot. This property is beautiful – you can feel the passion the owners put into it! Only a short distance from Columbia but feels miles away. The rock formations and grotto are incredible. It was raining most of our time there but there are walking paths on the property and it’s a short walk into town. We will be back!

This place is awesome!

I almost don’t want to share how great this place is! It is pristine, beautiful, private, and conveniently located. Julie is friendly and available, but also lets you be to enjoy her lovely property. There is airport noise, but it was not bothersome and we prefer it over noisy campground neighbors!
