I began to share the experiences with my animals by offering a unique farm tour called coffee with Critters and I find that I really enjoy sharing this lifestyle with like minded folk. If you love animals and want to camp near them please join me. Learn more about this land: Your campsite will be nestled among animal enclosures, listen to the munching of hay or the snorting of the horse. Your stay will include a modified animal tour and you can engage with horse, goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks and more... dogs and cats of course ;). I have a couple of spots but I would be flexible regarding campsite. My toilet is a compost toilet.  The outside shower has been upgraded with privacy curtains etc following suggetions from previous campers ;) I have a million $$ view and a modest house. My house is about 45 minutes from the Yosemite park entrance and it's an easy commute back/forth. Flowering vines cover my outdoor porches where we have big dinners when Wwoofers or Couchsurfers are in residence. The property is home to many animals, horse, goats, pigs, chickens, peacocks, rabbits, guinea pigs - dogs & cats - of course! :-) . The roosters wake us up pretty early so fair warning about that - but I love living with them and it makes the property so much more friendly with all the critters. My house is pet friendly and yours are welcome if they are 1. Fixed, 2. Are social and friendly with my pets, 3. Will not chase the cats and chickens. I can babysit your pups if you go to the park - provided they are compliant with rules above. I work from home. There are loads of trails nearby and 2 pretty ponds and plenty of wildlife, deer, turkeys and more. The property is rolling hills however there are plenty of flat areas for tents. NO FIRES PERMITTED ANYWHERE ON MY PROPERTY APRIL-OCTOBER - non negotiable.

Camp in the country with beautiful sunsets, sunrises, and night sky. A & M Ranch (40 acres) is located 10 min north of Fresno and near Hwy 41 which leads to the mountains. Many travelers stop here on their way to the national parks (Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Sequoia). We are also close to hiking trails, lakes, Sierra mountains, wineries, farmers' markets, and casinos. When you arrive, you will see our four alpacas in their pen, a mini donkey, two Nigerian dwarf goats, and maybe a few cats. We have designated spots for Tent camping, although if you'd like another spot let us know. Each site is listed separately. We are listed on other platforms, so there may be other guests here. Marta also has a shop if you are interested in refurbished items or alpaca products. We are not a day camp, so if you stay a few nights, we expect you to be out most of the day. You may hear coyotes at night, and see lots of squirrels and wild bunnies. Be careful of squirrel holes. *** If we do not respond right away and give approval, it is because sometimes our schedule changes. We usually respond WITHIN the week of your stay. We generally do not accept reservations more than 3 months ahead of time. Since we also travel, sometime we have unexpected family visits.

I absolutely loved Michael's camping spot! The drive up through the valley was super easy, beautiful, and very much enjoyable. The lot itself had tons of places to put down your tent, and a great spot for a fire. I loved walking around the property and looking at the different trees nearby. Will definitely be returning for a weekend getaway.

This was our first time using Hipcamp and we couldn’t have asked for a better first time site than Thistledew. My husband and I, plus our two dogs, loved the site. Some highlights: - It was incredibly spacious, quiet, and accessible. - We felt comfortable letting our pups off leash due to how open and spacious the site was. - The water and electricity hookups were a total plus! - Michael was a great host and incredibly responsive to any and all questions. - Sequoia/Kings Canyon entrance was a short 20 min drive away, so it was a perfect site for an easy day trip. - The views were amazing. Some additional notes for future campers (that are not at all a negative about the site) - We were guided by our GPS to take Dry Creek Rd. This road is narrow and not suitable for wider cars. There is however a highway that also leads to the road that connects to the site. We recommend the highway for wider vehicles or those who are anxious about narrow roads. - Yes, there is a road that is next to the site. Cars are incredibly few and far in between. The road is also a good distance from the site so not at all a danger to off-leash pups. The site was secluded, and I wouldn’t let the road be a deterrent in booking. - Our 2WD vehicle made it just fine to the site. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience and look forward to coming back!

This campground is great! Awsome views, great location, quiet and private. There was power and water for use. Plenty of flat areas for your tent and personal camp toilet. About 15 mins from the kings canyon gate and 1hr from general sherman tree. Nearest gas station and coffee shop is about 20 minutes away.

The camp site is beautiful and set up for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The space also has amazing views of the stars at night. Our host was very kind and helpful. We got in late and Steven came out to greet us and then helped us navigate our trailer into the camp space in the dark. Our family had a great time and we would definitely recommend this site to other campers.

It’s a nice campground, tidy, close to Yosemite. It is near the highway so you’ll hear some traffic during the day which was not great but night was silent. Best spots IMHO are 25-28 as they back up to the stream, which has a nice sound to it.

Buck Meadow Campground

Great quiet little spot to dig the mountains and maybe some peace and quiet. No water to drink. Serious stream in spring, ok into summer but flows just barely into Fall. Spring stream must be outrageous as the evidence of lots of moving rocks and water down this stream implies intense water but it’s to small to raft or tube. Great area geologically as lots of exposed granite, in fact right across the stream upstream from camp is an awesome granite dome ready to explore. Usually no one there midweek, but can be busy weekends inc summer. Good place to set up camp for day outings and a nice camp to come back to at days end.

Mono Creek Campground

I enjoyed this campground. Reservations for the sites are non-specific. I'm thankful my family got a double site (#14). It was HUGE. My family and I were in awe of the view the entire drive there. Bring dramamine and roll your windows down if you get motion sickness. This campground is about 1.5-2 hours from Shaver Lake, about 15 minutes from Edison Lake, 20 minutes from Mono Hot Springs (they have a store with ice), a short walk to the small creek. I'm not sure if you can swim in the creek--I wouldn't--but I saw an employee adding nets of fish inside. FYI: When dumping your trash, please lift the entire lid. During my stay here, the front half was stuffed and the back half was empty.

Such a beautiful area. Rugged, classic beauty. Keep going to see some of the most beautiful places on earth. Florance Lake, Jackass Meadows are a spectacular must see, just a few miles from Ward Lake. The views are unbelievable. Roads are challenging, but worth the trip.

This is great spot, but it gets crowded and a little rowdy during the busy season. If you have kids or are a light sleeper, I would suggest Willow placer or McCabe flat. That photo is not of the location

Been closed for years. They have almost all the beetle killed trees down. It doesn't look like it will be open anytime soon. 2 hour drive from Yosemite. Nothing like that picture.

Ward Lake Campground

This place is awesome, but there is a huge wasp/yellow jacket problem here in the Summer. They come out and swarm your food, so if you go here, plan on eating in your tent. Bringing traps wont really help, there are way too many of them. If you dont have food out, they will generally leave you undisturbed.

Mammoth Pool Campground

This is on my top list of most beautiful camping experiences. After dinner, take few bottles (hide it) and walk to the Mammoth pool reserviour. The night sky is just mesmerizing!

Sample Meadow Campground

We brought our 21' trailer. It was a slow drive down a bumpy dirt road. I wouldn't have towed anything larger. Great private campsite along a river. Cows walk through the grounds regularly. A great hike just up the road.

Mono Hot Springs Campground

This place is a magical fairy wonderland, and the exact reason I love the mountains so much. The drive in is insane. The highway dead ends and turns into a 1-lane road, where you drive 14 miles into the backcountry to arrive. It takes about an hour, but a very beautiful. The grounds are very clean, and the general store has anything you might have forgotten at home. The river is cold, but the hike up to Doris Lake is easy and the water there is much warmer than the river. I also recommend a further drive to Lake Edison to hike up to Devil's Bathtub. It's about 9 miles round trip, and the hot springs back at camp are the perfect remedy for tired muscles. Loads of hot springs all around. I definitely hope to go back next summer!

Sawmill Flat Campground

A semi-secluded campground, I recomend you bring everything you might need, there are pit toilets, fire rings and tables other wise it is primative. Quiet, very little traffic makes for a good area to see deer.

Kelty Meadow Campground

The picture attached is really misleading. It's nowhere near the lake. It's actually 30 minutes up a winding dirt road. I was never sent directions on how to get there. Google Maps points you to the Kelty Meadow Office, which shows it's 5 minutes or so from Bass lake. But you don't go to the office. There are no "superb views of the surrounding forest and mountains." You are simply tucked up in the woods. There is no running water. The camp host is aggressive. We got there late because of the lack of directions and there was no sheet with names/campsites so we just picked one. The camp host woke me up at 7 am to tell me i was in the wrong spot... but didn't have to move. Just on a power trip. Hipcamp, please change the photo.

Dirt Flat Campground

I camped out there for 4 nights with no issue and slept like a baby. The place is affordable, organized, and right next to the Merced River. It's only 20 minutes from the Yosemite National Park. There is a bubbly host if you need to check in and the site comes with your own bear locker, fire pit, and picnic table. There are also bathrooms but no showers. I went to the Indian RV campground that was 7 minutes away and paid $3 to use their shower. The only thing I would like to mention is that you have to past Incline Road and past the Dry Glutch campground to get to this one. I missed it the first time when I checked in around 10PM.

Lower Chiquito Campground

Back in the late 70"s early 80's at least once sometimes twice a year my parents drove 8 hours to camp there. We used to catch a whole lot of crawdads, daddy would fish, I would try...lol standing over that bridge looking at the trout swimming under, One night a bear tried to roll our ice chest away, lol, he couldnt get that ice chest open. damn good memories. Our family camped there till we moved out of state. Beautiful little camp ground.
