The land is not far from the entrance (about 15 minutes drive)You will need to bring your own little table and chairs + whatever else you wish to have there.There is no bathroom or trash on the land. Please pack everything back out with you and discard once you reach a public trash.You will enjoy over 2 acres of privacy, endless views, starry skies complete with sunrise and sunset :) (The city allows us to camp on our private vacant land only 4 nights a month, and of course does not allow short term rentals. For that reason a suggested donation of $25 per night is all that we are asking from our hipcamp community to help keep the space maintained :)

Off-leash dogs are welcome. Please clean up after them so this policy can remain in place.
Guests must bring their own water, use a self-contained toilet system (pack out all waste), and pack out all trash. Desert conditions change rapidly — wind, heat, and cold are all possible. Four-wheel drive is recommended, though many standard vehicles and RVs have accessed the property by driving slowly and carefully. If a vehicle becomes stuck, guests are responsible for arranging their own towing.
This is unfenced private land bordering public Bureau of Land Management (BLM) areas. On rare occasions, someone may mistakenly pass through assuming the land is public. This has always been resolved easily by letting them know they are on private property.
Located at the base of Copper Mountain, the property offers wildlife sightings, panoramic views, and generally good cell service despite the remote feel.

The camp is less than two hours from Los Angeles and Orange County and only 2.5 miles from the West Entrance of Joshua Tree National Park, as well as Covington Flats and Black Rock hiking and day-use areas. It is also conveniently located between the towns of Joshua Tree and Yucca Valley, with access to off-road recreation areas such as Johnson Valley OHV.
The land is home to native Joshua trees, cactus, and seasonal wildflowers, with views of rocky foothills to the south and open desert valleys to the north and east. Wildlife sightings may include jackrabbits, quail, hawks, kangaroo rats, snakes, and coyotes.

We want to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, so please take note of the following guidelines: Swimming is not permitted in the lake and there is no swimming pool available. Fishing is currently closed. Pet owners will be pleased to know that their furry friends are welcome, but there will be an additional fee added to the reservation. Wi-Fi is provided by a third-party company and a separate service fee applies. Please note that we cannot guarantee the speed, rate, or troubleshooting of the Wi-Fi service. For your convenience, a wash station for dishes is available on-site, and the Joshua Tree Laundromat is located 9 miles away in downtown Joshua Tree. For campfires, it is important to keep them contained inside the designated burn barrels and never leave them unattended. In the event of high winds, campfire, and BBQ use may be suspended for safety reasons.

I have a very private campsite that is off grid. No power. No water. Bare bones minimal just a spot to pop a tent with wind and Sun protection and a view. There’s an outhouse but no toilet is provided or maintained. Bring your own TP, camping bags and bucket. There’s a large deck to lounge and watch the sun rise or set. You can pitch a tent on the deck or on several cleared spots on the ground. JT national park is a 15 minute drive and there’s a corner mart nearby. You can use the trampoline, there’s a fire pit (bring your own firewood), and please bring your own camping chairs, water, toilet paper/wipes and you must dispose of your waste 🌞🌵🏜️

There is only one way to access the site, so please follow the provided directions carefully. GPS may lead you to a route that is not vehicle-accessible. You will drive through a residential neighborhood before entering the forest property — please drive slowly and respectfully.
Other Things to Note:
Please pack out all trash. We do not provide bins to avoid attracting animals or scattering debris in the wind.
Important: You must have a self-contained toilet system and pack out all waste.
A 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended, but standard cars and RVs up to 30 feet can access the site by driving slowly. Low-clearance sedans can also make it with care. Please know your vehicle’s limits.
Parking is available directly on the campsite, leading up the driveway.
We’re animal-friendly! Pets are welcome — just be sure to clean up after them to help keep the property beautiful.

Off-leash dogs are welcome. Please clean up after them so this policy can remain in place.
Guests must bring their own water, use a self-contained toilet system (pack out all waste), and pack out all trash. Desert conditions change rapidly — wind, heat, and cold are all possible. Four-wheel drive is recommended, though many standard vehicles and RVs have accessed the property by driving slowly and carefully. If a vehicle becomes stuck, guests are responsible for arranging their own towing.
This is unfenced private land bordering public Bureau of Land Management (BLM) areas. On rare occasions, someone may mistakenly pass through assuming the land is public. This has always been resolved easily by letting them know they are on private property.
Located at the base of Copper Mountain, the property offers wildlife sightings, panoramic views, and generally good cell service despite the remote feel.

The land is home to native Joshua trees, cactus, and seasonal wildflowers, with views of rocky foothills to the south and open desert valleys to the north and east. Wildlife sightings may include jackrabbits, quail, hawks, kangaroo rats, snakes, and coyotes.

We want to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, so please take note of the following guidelines: Swimming is not permitted in the lake and there is no swimming pool available. Fishing is currently closed. Pet owners will be pleased to know that their furry friends are welcome, but there will be an additional fee added to the reservation. Wi-Fi is provided by a third-party company and a separate service fee applies. Please note that we cannot guarantee the speed, rate, or troubleshooting of the Wi-Fi service. For your convenience, a wash station for dishes is available on-site, and the Joshua Tree Laundromat is located 9 miles away in downtown Joshua Tree. For campfires, it is important to keep them contained inside the designated burn barrels and never leave them unattended. In the event of high winds, campfire, and BBQ use may be suspended for safety reasons.

I have a very private campsite that is off grid. No power. No water. Bare bones minimal just a spot to pop a tent with wind and Sun protection and a view. There’s an outhouse but no toilet is provided or maintained. Bring your own TP, camping bags and bucket. There’s a large deck to lounge and watch the sun rise or set. You can pitch a tent on the deck or on several cleared spots on the ground. JT national park is a 15 minute drive and there’s a corner mart nearby. Whenever we visit Joshua Tree, this is our go-to site. We’ve stayed in different seasons, and it’s always perfect. It’s honestly one of our (and our dog’s) fave places on the planet. The peace and serenity it brings can’t be beat. For anyone worried about it being too remote, the road is extremely manageable and town is just a short drive away for groceries and restaurants. This trip, we brought friends who are more accustomed to crowded campgrounds, and they loved the site and will be coming back. The host is also a five-star host.

The site was pretty easy to find during the day (might be difficult at night due to lack of landmarks), and it was clean when we got there. I love Wilhart Crossing! I almost feel bad sharing my best kept secret of Joshua Tree. This campsite has it all! We have a 25 foot Airstream trailer and there was plenty of room to circle around to a level spot at the top of the clearing. The dirt road was graded nicely; no potholes or rocks in the road. Lots of privacy and quiet. Feels remote, but it is only 10 minutes away from groceries, gas, etc in nearby town. Perfect location if you are visiting Joshua Tree NP. It's only 15 minutes from West Entrance.

So glad I found this spot, as much as I love J-Tree, getting a campsite on the weekend always felt stressful and Airbnb's weren't the nature experience I craved. Competitively priced with the in-park camping spots without the feeling of being crowded in with other campers.
The campsite is in a prime location only ~5 minutes from the Yucca Valley Walmart (a frequent pit stop for me) and not far from the park entrance . Beautiful plot of land out of earshot of neighbors, with nice views of the valley.
Just know what you're signing up for as a primitive camp, the only true minus for me was the low din of road noise from the nearby highway. I think that was balanced out by the lack of potentially noisy neighbors which you can experience in the park.

Directions were clear, the little road up to the site was fun. The views were perfect. A few campers on other sites, but nature camouflaged them. Our campsite was perfect. Higher than others, giving us great views & it’s very clean. Very tranquil & quiet at night. Nice camp table & wonderfully big fire pit! We just loved it & will be back. I camp a lot & must say this is one of my favorite spots. Thank you!

The directions lead me straight to the site with no issues and it was perfect for a last minute camping trip. Site was also close to the Joshua tree national park which is such a perk.

Woke up at 1130pm to a man shining his headlamp on my face. He was climbing the rocks on our campsite - 15 feet away from where we were sleeping. When asked to go elsewhere and off of our campsite, he continued his "climbing route". Our next door neighbors were filming content during their whole stay. Felt like we were next to a construction zone with flood lights all night. Finally enjoyed the stars after they went to bed at 1am. If you like nature and want to truly camp in nature, I recommend visiting for hiking and day trips and not camping at this campground. There was no camp host which would have been nice to report a man on my campsite while I was sleeping. Didn't make me feel safe to go back to bed or to ever return for camping.

Hidden Valley Campground
Gorgeous campground!! The Hidden Valley Nature Trail is amazing, we did a walk as the sun went down and it was one of my all time favorites. Only thing to note is this can be a tougher sleep - bring ear plugs and an eye mask if you can, because people circle around looking for open sites until fairly late :)

Park Rangers are the best! First time in Joshua Tree, we came on the second weekend of March and it was super windy, very dry and cold! Folks were getting blown away. No fires allowed until about 8pm when the winds fell below 9mph. Couldn’t eat my steak until night. Not for the beginner camper. Beginner Hiker friendly though. Night hit about 43 degrees, so be prepared! The stars in the sky were absolutely amazing! The following day we went into town and it was bright and sunny no wind in sight. If you’re coming back to Los Angeles, stop in White water on the way back highly recommend.

Low Expectations Easily Beaten
You might think that a desert park could be boring but JTNP is actually spectacular in many spots because it is absolutely untouched except for the road you are driving on. We could not find camping spots in the park but they all seem amazing. If you have time try the drive through awe-inspiring Pinto Basin and Cholla Cactus Garden. Go play in the rocks at Jumbo Rocks and don't miss Keys View.
