This open camp tent area is owned by (and was/is built by) the former HGTV host of the show "Tiny House Builders". The site also houses a "wooden tent" or micro glamping pod named "The Little Lantern" (a second listing) that is fun to check out, take pix of, store gear in- the structures serve as windbreaks and shade walls
for tent campers and you can hang out on the benches near them, use their fire pits, and so on. The owner is also the author of several design and budget-build/reuse books (the bestseller "Micro Shelters" and others). Decades back this land was the site of an old RV park, so we've been in the long process of cleaning it up and removing junk from some corners of the site- but a bit still remains (its NOT pristine- still in the works). As a result you'll find some cool, weird, and unusual detritus and salvage out here (but not so much close to the camp spots)- old car parts, industrial knobs and dials- feel free to explore. Camp at your own risk though if you wander off to check this stuff out. The immediate camping area is cleared/clean. This has made it a favorite spot for junk collectors and photographers (we've found everything from old coins, to actual silver, cool rocks/geodes, and vintage car parts). This place would also make for a great spot for video or fashion shoots (which aren't allowed unless you seek separate permission from us!). Its a dirt site, but easy to get into, easy to pull into and turn around in (even with an RV), and you basically have about 5 acres all to yourself in most cases. There is one other camp site on the property (two total- the little lantern, and the van area for tenting- they are separate and spread out).
Note: As I'm not sure of the current hip camp/country standings (new vague rules), I had removed this listing/put it on "hold", but it keeps going live/not adjusting- for that reason I'm just going to keep it live and allow people to book/stay until things are figured out by hip camp (so as not to inconvenience anyone).

Off-leash dogs are welcome. Please clean up after them so this policy can remain in place.
Guests must bring their own water, use a self-contained toilet system (pack out all waste), and pack out all trash. Desert conditions change rapidly — wind, heat, and cold are all possible. Four-wheel drive is recommended, though many standard vehicles and RVs have accessed the property by driving slowly and carefully. If a vehicle becomes stuck, guests are responsible for arranging their own towing.
This is unfenced private land bordering public Bureau of Land Management (BLM) areas. On rare occasions, someone may mistakenly pass through assuming the land is public. This has always been resolved easily by letting them know they are on private property.
Located at the base of Copper Mountain, the property offers wildlife sightings, panoramic views, and generally good cell service despite the remote feel.

I have a very private campsite that is off grid. No power. No water. Bare bones minimal just a spot to pop a tent with wind and sun protection and a view. There’s an outhouse but the camping toilet that is provided is NOT maintained. Bring your own TP, camping bags and please leave clean for the next person. There’s a large deck to lounge and watch the sun rise or set. You can pitch a tent on the deck or on several cleared spots on the ground. JT national park is a 15 minute drive and there’s a corner mart nearby. You can use the trampoline, there’s a fire pit (bring your own firewood), and please bring your own camping chairs, water, toilet paper/wipes and you must dispose of your waste. We had a great stay at the Date Farm for my husband birthday, what a magical place - we enjoyed privacy, a fire pit and our very own tub of hot spring water! The farm sits on a hot spring aquifer so after you use the water, it drains into the sand and feeds the date palms, any excess seeps back down into the aquifer. Ron was incredibly helpful - thank you Ron for a lovely stay :)

We had the most magical time on this land. It is so beautiful and private and you feel like you have the whole valley to yourself. We had two airstreams in our group with four people and it was completely perfect. So much flat space and so so peaceful and what a great recharge and we felt very safe. You feel very remote, but we were only 15 minutes to town if you want to go get groceries or go to Joshua Tree. Also, it's very private from the other site so either site is amazing. The host was fantastic. We really could not have had a more perfect stay and will be back again.

We had such a fun time at this property, from petting the kitchen cats to dipping in our private mineral bath.
We had campsite ten! It was beautifully positioned in such a way that the high winds didn’t bother us at all.
Ron came out to our site to show us how to work the mineral bath and get the a/c pumping on the yurt. The following day Laura came by to make sure everything was going well for us.
Really extraordinary! An oasis in the desert to be sure!

This was a fantastic experience, the hosts were very kind and accommodating, we ended up in a beautiful private area surrounded by date. Palms and inside was everything you could want a large giant tent with everything set up inside beds, towels, and everything to make us comfortable. Outside was too natural Hot Springs for our private use. This farm is on an aqueduct in the water is piped up into the spa and you could use it at your leisure 103° natural mineral Springs water. There was a fire ring. We had a beautiful crackling fire every night barbecues set up really all you need to bring. Is your clothes some food and a cooler because everything else is there for your comfort. We had an amazing time. Beautiful bright stars filling the night and just the most serene, gorgeous hidden gem. I would definitely recommend going here.

Whenever we visit Joshua Tree, this is our go-to site. We’ve stayed in different seasons, and it’s always perfect. It’s honestly one of our (and our dog’s) fave places on the planet. The peace and serenity it brings can’t be beat. For anyone worried about it being too remote, the road is extremely manageable and town is just a short drive away for groceries and restaurants. This trip, we brought friends who are more accustomed to crowded campgrounds, and they loved the site and will be coming back. The host is also a five-star host.

Rock climbing and Star glazing Campground
Indian Cove campground is the one campground outside of Joshua tree National Park that is maintained by the National Park Service. We set up our Tent Trailer and had a blast. There are no connections. Have a generator or large power bank if coming in the summer heat. The Heat is serious and all subsides a smidge 110° during the day and 85° to 88° at night. I have to take advantage of the kids time off of school. So we do heat and sometimes not well. This campground has toilets that are non flushing. But they have them. There are plenty of rocks to climb and trails. We have come several times throughiut the year. Fall is great with cooler temperatures but there are often flashfloods in the area.

Jumbo Rocks Campground
Camped for a couple nights with my best friend shortly before moving across the country and leaving the beautiful desert and west coast I grew up knowing. It was the perfect send-off to a new adventure, with lots of memories told and made around the campfire. We hiked around the Skull Rock Trail and a few others I cannot remember. We drove through the other side of the park on the way home and stopped at the amazing Cholla Cactus gardens! What incredible resilience lives inside Joshua Tree! Waiting to be back home ans visit again.

We went during summer which is offseason but it was great because it was not very crowded and as long as you start early you can get in some short hikes in the morning beds it gets too hot. The stargazing is also amazing!

Ryan Campground
Joshua Tree is unlike any park when it comes to solitude. The sunrises and sunsets are mind blowing. Great park to hike and reset yourself.
