My son and I rented a camper van and spent the weekend on Dave's land. The views are amazing. If you angle your tent/van just right, you've got a 180 degree view of a small nearby mountain range (about 20 min walk to the foot of the mountains) and in the distance, what I believe are the Bullion Mountains. It's pretty quiet and though there are homes somewhat nearby, it feels isolated and private. Dave is super friendly and responsive.

This place is AMAZING!! I had a little trouble ( I am horrible with directions lol ) locating the campsite but Host Dave was so efficient and helpful with getting us to our location. I booked the spot for some star gazing and I was definitely not disappointed. I felt completely safe and comfortable and can't wait to book again. I highly recommend !!!

This was my first time ever using Hipcamp and I was really blown away by the place, it feels very remote and the sunset/sunrise were gorgeous. I hiked for a few hours into the mountains and you can get a pretty incredible view.
There’s also like, perfect cell service and WiFi out there which is pretty surprising.
I’ll be back soon!

Great spot if you’re looking get away from it all. There’s little to no light pollution, so you’ll get to enjoy stargazing. Finding the spot was a bit tricky because the signs are about a foot tall, so we missed them the first time we drove by. Thankfully, Dave provided GPS coordinates. Overall, this is a great spot if you want to enjoy Joshua Tree, but you don’t want to stay in the crowded camp grounds.

Nice and secluded in a very beautiful spot in wonder valley. Easy to get to with great host directions. Definitely follow Dave’s instructions and not GPS, and be aware of speed down the dirt roads once you hit the single track part (definitely some loose sand parts that we got through no problem). Dave was easy to communicate with, def recommend!

Only got lost once on the way to this one. The coordinates just take you a bit farther then needed so I would recommend looking on your map for Wilson road before going all the way down Amboy. There are three sites there. You should be fine with 2 wheel drive as long as you don’t go too far off the site/road type area. There are not many spots of soft/loose sand. It can be windy depending on conditions. Nice secluded spot. Stars where really pretty and fire was easy enough to start. Solid stay! Would recommend.

This property was perfect for a group camp with people coming from all different areas. It was so easy for us to meet up here and there was plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the views. Exactly as advertised and easy, clear communication!

Wow. So stunning! It's hard to find privacy like that with no one around for miles. Once we set up camp we had the place to ourselves and got to enjoy amazing sunsets and night skies. It is the desert, so bring plenty of water (though gas, etc. is within a 30 min. drive). The wind can certainly pick up at times, but we managed well with our tent. That said the site might be more amenable to a sleeping camper/van only because you don't know when you'll be dealing with high winds. Either way, highly recommended!

Wonder Valley Ranch blew my expectations out of the water. Just the process of finding the site was an adventure, and I loved every minute of it. The site is completely surrounded by miles of wilderness, open space, and sweeping mountain views. The seclusion and peace were amazing, and it offered us some of the best stargazing I have done in a while! Dave was an excellent host and easy to get in touch with whenever I had any questions. I highly recommend this spot to anyone who wants to disconnect and enjoy some good old fashioned camping - I will definitely be coming back!

I came to this site with friends and we returned a month later. It is a nice open spot with beautiful mountain views. It's great for our semi-local getaway.

You can't mention this spot without noting the incredible 360 degree views all round. From dawn til dusk, the sun and the moon track across the sky, exposing a blanket of stars and the mountains beyond.
As far as setup goes - this is super basic for now. A real blank canvas to park up on and drink in the desert surroundings. We built a little campfire to keep warm, and ate dinner outside. The location is super handy for an early start for Joshua Tree National Park.
Be sure to TYPE IN the coordinate directions - do not just follow link to Google Maps as you will get lost. Dave's written directions do take you right to the spot though.
Can't wait to return and experience Dave's future plans for this spot :)

Super remote, clean property in an inspiring desert landscape. Dave was super easy to communicate with and very responsive. Star gazing was amazing even with an half moon. We brought our airstream which was no trouble at all. We will definitely be back!

Such a beautiful and peaceful piece of land! We had a nice little fire and it wasn’t too windy. Great for stargazing, sunsets and sunrises with mountains views surrounding in every direction.

We had a great time camping at Wonder Valley Ranch. There was seemingly miles of empty desert around us.
I would highly recommend a 4x4 to get there. The dirt roads get increasingly challenging (and fun).
It's exactly what we wanted and we will be back.
