The redwoods beckon RVers in far northern California.
Just 20 miles south of the Oregon border, Crescent City sits at the top of the California coast’s Redwood country. Parks protecting these towering icons run nearly back to back along Highway 101, from Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park to Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park to Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park to Redwood National and State Parks near Eureka. For something different, Tolowa Dunes State Park offers birdwatching on the beach, and the Crescent City harbor is home to Battery Point Lighthouse, a waterfront park, fishing opportunities, and a sea lion colony. Temperatures don’t vary too much on this part of the coast, with temps between 40°F and 65°F on average throughout the year. Fall, winter, and spring can be pretty wet. Several RV parks with hookups and amenities sit along Highway 101. State park campgrounds get you closer to the redwoods but often have no hookups.
