What makes this place special is the open space, the quiet mornings, the scattered trees, the fresh coastal air, and the slower pace that makes you want to sit outside just a little longer.
The Klamath River is just over the levee, only a short walk from camp. It is a beautiful place to fish, swim, explore, or simply sit and enjoy the water. The river is known for salmon and steelhead fishing, and a valid fishing license is required. During peak fishing season, especially in August and September, you may hear early morning activity from guests heading out to the river.
We are located about 4 miles off Highway 101, close enough to be convenient but far enough away to feel tucked away from the rush. Wildlife is common in the area, so please secure your food and trash at night.
There is so much to explore nearby. Guests love visiting Redwood National and State Parks, Trees of Mystery, Klamath River Jet Boat Tours, coastal viewpoints, hiking trails, biking routes, and quiet places to wander among the redwoods.
A few things to know before you book:
* Firewood is available on site.
* Cell service can be spotty depending on your carrier. Free Wi-Fi is available and reaches most of the campground.
* Electric vehicle charging is $20 per charge and must be arranged ahead of time. 50 amp service is limited, and guests must provide their own adapters.
* Well-behaved pets are welcome.
* Kids, laughter, bikes, campfires, and simple outdoor fun are always welcome.
* We offer dry camping, 30 amp sites, and 50 amp pull-through sites.
* Late arrivals are okay. If you plan to arrive after 10:00 p.m., please text us before 9:00 p.m. so we can send check-in instructions.

Parking spots are on flat grassy field, near neighborhood road, typically very quiet and dark at night.
We have nice bay breezes most every summer afternoon, and summer daytime temperatures are usually around 65 degrees. Abundant organic fruit free for the picking includes blueberries, blackberries, thimbleberries, kiwis, plums, pears and apples depending on the time of year (typically June through November) and we usually have fresh duck and chicken eggs, veggies, and culinary herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage, lavender etc.) to share from our garden, which is a work in progress, like many things!
You're welcome to hang out by the very private creek for morning coffee or afternoon picnics and great bird and wildlife watching--if you're lucky you might even get to see river otters fishing and playing in the creek! You might want to bring water shoes or rain boots if you'd like to wade across the creek and explore the beautiful, serene 60 acre private nature preserve that borders our property.

My aunt and uncle bought the property in 1947 from its first European settler, Paolo Gabrielli, who immigrated in early 1914 from northern Italy with slips of his grapevine in the lining of his coat. (The grapevine still grows over the back deck.) What can you expect? Quiet, beauty, birdsong, ocean roar, widely spaced campsites (only 5 on the 5 acres set aside for camping). Osprey’s perch is a small campsite perched above the Salmon River. The pit toilet is just downhill from the camp at the end of a trail winding down through the meadow and to the right. There is private access to secluded swimming and fishing holes on the lower Salmon River down the meadow trail and to the left. A bridge provides shelter from rain if needed. The area is known for its world class steelhead fishing and is unparalleled in its natural beauty. The elk even stop by occasionally on a late winter/early spring morning if you are lucky enough to get the timing right… I hope you enjoy our most recently additions, tent pads on a nice deep bed of chips, and a dog run for your best friend!

*WARNING - there is poison oak on the property. Its actually in all the state parks as well - it lovers this climate, so familiarize yourself with its appearance. We do our best to mitigate the camp sites and keep them clear, but it is around. While some people do not react to it, others definitely do and it is no fun. There is an identification poster at the bathrooms. If you come in contact use soap and cold water to wash right away.
Now about this beautiful place -
This property has been in the family since 1922. During a time of no roads just the railroad that passed through, and a river ferry.
At the entrance of the property was the town of Skelly, with a post office, train stop, animal corrals and railroad logging spurs. The lands primary use was ranching and timber back then. The flat that the camp ground is located on is the site of the old Larrabee school house (Georgeson School) which was built after the 1955 flood took out the original school house, located across from the train trussell next to Larabee Creek.
The railroad was closed indefinitely in 1996, which changed the entire landscape for this small community. This area is accessible by a low water bridge in the summer months and offers a spot to slip back in time.
Today the land is a great example of sustainably harvest redwoods, a project that was established by great grandpa and is still in practice today. The timber surrounds the pastures and farm land that now produces hay.
We acquired this land 5 years ago and have spent countless hours restoring the fields, managing the forest and creating a working sustainable environment.
It is a very special place and offers peace and quite to those who enjoy the out doors and camping.

This place was absolutely delightful! I camped with my 2 kids for 2 nights. We picked berries and apples, wandered down the road to meet a new baby calf, and enjoyed the fresh air. The owner is fantastic! Her and her son were very friendly and supplied us with and wood so we could roast marshmallows. I would absolutely camp here again. Loved it!

This was a phenomenal option to camp in Trinidad. Very mellow vibe with updated amenities. The restrooms were tidy, the camp store had great local options, and the location can’t be beat. Speaking of the location, the ocean view sites while incredible, I may opt for a site further back due to the seals. We’re up on a hill side but somehow the seals barking was quite loud at site #11. We will be back!

The campground is away from the main road so it was pleasantly quiet. And it’s right on the river! Unfortunately, we didn’t get the campsite we wanted. We reserved #8 because it was on the perimeter, on the side closer to the river. When we arrived, the camp host said #8 was taken :-( We were given #31, which was in the middle row of the campsite. The walk to the river wasn’t bad though. The campsite is fairly clean. No shade. Not much to it. We had a picnic table but no fire ring. Next time I would go with #22! That site backs up with a nice river view, and is off by itself (not sandwiched between other rv’s).

This place is a gem! One of the best campgrounds I’ve camped in. Clean, cute, fun and close to all the redwoods. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Sites are level but do vary so check first. Showers are clean and they provide soap and shampoo. Laundry is clean and sparkling. Fantastic hot tub and great little camp store. Highly recommended and will stay here again.

Gorgeous small winery nestled into Bigfoot Country! Very helpful, friendly people. Use of kitchen in wine barn and a nice toilet out back. Sweeping views of the valley from the accessible patio. We even fed the donkey and pigs apples! Buy a bottle of wine while you’re there and live the terroir 💗

Solid spot with all the amenities you could ask for! Wish we coulda stayed longer & enjoyed them, but we got in late that evening & we were out early the next day. Perfect spot right off the highway & by Sue-Meg State Park (and others). We hit Agate Beach at Sue-Meg on the way out and spent hours there, what an incredible spot - highly recommend you go if you have the time! Would recommend staying here & would come back again!

Lucy was an attentive and interested host. Our campsite #11 was beside an old growth giant redwood facing the Klamath River. Sunset and views were amazing!! Restroom/shower house was basic but clean and met all needs.

Lovely little spot in a quiet neighborhood. I booked last minute after I decided not to stay at a different site that made me uncomfortable. She put flowers out for me and checked in on me when I arrived to make sure I felt safe there. There is a creek out back and blackberry bushes that she said I could pick from. Great spot near Eureka and Arcata. Will definitely be back if I’m in the area again.
