The property is the home of Briceland Vineyards, the first winery in Humboldt based on Humboldt grown grape and the most awarded winery in the county.
To access our sites, find Ferren Road, about 1/4 mile east of Briceland. Head up that gravel road about 75 yards. It is ideal to text or call ahead so I can come out to meet you as you arrive. Then, I can direct you to your spot. Thanks!

My aunt and uncle bought the property in 1947 from its first European settler, Paolo Gabrielli, who immigrated in early 1914 from northern Italy with slips of his grapevine in the lining of his coat. (The grapevine still grows over the back deck.) What can you expect? Quiet, beauty, birdsong, ocean roar, widely spaced campsites (only 5 on the 5 acres set aside for camping). Free firewood, local tips on travel and where to hike or what to visit. Or total solitude. Bring your (most non-cattle-chasing breeds) dogs if you wish (males must be neutered). Starlink internet. Walk to the beach of our wild ocean along a no-shoulder country road. We have no visible neighbors, no ambient light or sound. The air is clean and clear and the water is potable from an artesian spring on the property. No electricity at the sites and no generators allowed. (Charge your electronics at the farmhouse.) We offer homemade soup, cobbler, fresh bread, morning coffee as extras; you can order with the booking. The Victorian village of Ferndale is three miles east, as is a beautifully maintained 110-acre town wilderness with hiking trails called Russ Park. A 150-year-old cemetery slopes down a hillside & is filled with 19th century charm and history. Shops and restaurants welcome visitors. There are several bars/a wine bar/and a historic saloon that's as old boy as it was in 1890. A music venue in a restored 19th century church has amazing acoustics and attracts international talent as a top-notch venue (sessions are filmed for PBS) midway between Portland and San Francisco. We have nice bay breezes most every summer afternoon, and summer daytime temperatures are usually around 65 degrees. Abundant organic fruit free for the picking includes blueberries, blackberries, thimbleberries, kiwis, plums, pears and apples depending on the time of year (typically June through November) and we usually have fresh duck and chicken eggs, veggies, and culinary herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage, lavender etc.) to share from our garden, which is a work in progress, like many things!
You're welcome to hang out by the very private creek for morning coffee or afternoon picnics and great bird and wildlife watching--if you're lucky you might even get to see river otters fishing and playing in the creek! You might want to bring water shoes or rain boots if you'd like to wade across the creek and explore the beautiful, serene 60 acre private nature preserve that borders our property.
We have a young son and you'll often find us working and playing in the garden, creek, or around the property during the days

This property has been in the family since 1922. During a time of no roads just the railroad that passed through, and a river ferry.
At the entrance of the property was the town of Skelly, with a post office, train stop, animal corrals and railroad logging spurs. The lands primary use was ranching and timber back then. The flat that the camp ground is located on is the site of the old Larrabee school house after the 1955 flood took out the original school house.
The railroad was closed indefinitely in 1996, which changed the entire landscape for this small community. This area is accessible by a low water bridge in the summer months and offers a spot to slip back in time.
Today the land is a great example of sustainably harvest redwoods, a project that was established by great grandpa and is still in practice today. The timber surrounds the pastures and farm land that now produces hay.
We acquired this land 5 years ago and have spent countless hours restoring the fields, managing the forest and creating a working sustainable environment.
It is a very special place and offers peace and quite to those who enjoy the out doors and camping.

My aunt and uncle bought the property in 1947 from its first European settler, Paolo Gabrielli, who immigrated in early 1914 from northern Italy with slips of his grapevine in the lining of his coat. You're welcome to hang out by the very private creek for morning coffee or afternoon picnics and great bird and wildlife watching--if you're lucky you might even get to see river otters fishing and playing in the creek! You might want to bring water shoes or rain boots if you'd like to wade across the creek and explore the beautiful, serene 60 acre private nature preserve that borders our property.

This property has been in the family since 1922. During a time of no roads just the railroad that passed through, and a river ferry.
At the entrance of the property was the town of Skelly, with a post office, train stop, animal corrals and railroad logging spurs. The lands primary use was ranching and timber back then. The flat that the camp ground is located on is the site of the old Larrabee school house after the 1955 flood took out the original school house.
The railroad was closed indefinitely in 1996, which changed the entire landscape for this small community. This area is accessible by a low water bridge in the summer months and offers a spot to slip back in time.
Today the land is a great example of sustainably harvest redwoods, a project that was established by great grandpa and is still in practice today. The timber surrounds the pastures and farm land that now produces hay.
We acquired this land 5 years ago and have spent countless hours restoring the fields, managing the forest and creating a working sustainable environment.
It is a very special place and offers peace and quite to those who enjoy the out doors and camping.
Just six minutes off the Avenue of the Giants through Holms Flat.

This was a great spot! Andrew did an excellent job of making it cozy and a perfect spot for us as we headed south for a 7 day van trip. The Redwood are absolutely gorgeous- the dogs loved all the smells of nature. :) As others mentioned, it’s close to the road but it didn’t bother us at all.

If u only listen to one review in your lifetime I hope it is this one! I have been here multiple times in the summer and once in the fall and now once in the spring and I can honestly say each time is more magical than the last. The green grass, listening to the birds all over the sites is the best way to wake up. Every site has a special trait that you will love. The first site when you drive in to the left, all the birds come in the morning and chirp all around you. The site to the left when you come in the crows will come and visit you steal your food. I still haven’t learned my lesson because this time they stole my marshmallow stick! The other sites are right next to the water and listening to the creek while u sleep is magical. I can not say enough about the stars!! It’s like having your own personal area to see shooting stars. I also know there is a fox running around that I have not had the pleasure yet of seeing but hopefully on the next trip. This is the place u should visit if you need a wonderful time. The hosts Shannon and Tim are also absolutely amazing!! I can not say enough good things about them! They go above and beyond! Im already planning my next trip!

Phenomenal experience! We wanted to be secluded and we got it! Beautiful spot with a quaint babbling brook nearby. Flat pull through with picnic table and gas fire pit. The bathroom is a cool futuristic added feature. Simple composting toilet and pump sink, both very clean and well kept. We arrived in the dark, I would highly advise against this! We needed our 4.7 transfer case and 4x4 to back up on the steep road as we missed the turn. It was pitch black out and didn’t even see the bathroom marking the spot. The mushroom is about 15 feet back from the entrance. If you are a heavier rig I would suggest daylight or 4x4 at a minimum if you need to reposition yourself on the road. The directions were slightly confusing, especially in the dark. Overall we would definitely recommend and stay again!

Wow! Exquisite, mostly flat, and very clear area. Silo toilet worked as expected, nice benefit to have so close to the site. Light was helpful for set up but a bit aggressive for camping ambiance. Road felt way longer than it was when we went up at night but was actually pretty chill. Didn’t try the fire but was intrigued and love the concept. Trees were great to wrap lights on. Jumping off the bathroom platform was fun but maybe a bit treacherous in the dark (there are stairs though). Trail and bench was very cute, the little stream burbled delightfully. Sunlight never really made it to us - time is an illusion. Would stay here again with more propane.

Stayed three nights in the middle of the week. Campground was fairly full, but since there are only 37 sites, it never felt crowded. Private flush toilets and showers. Very quiet as it is 5 miles from 101 on a small windy rural road. Very close to trails. Situated among big Redwoods and right by a meadow, it is very beautiful. Firewood is available from the camp host. Bear boxes are large and clean for keeping food. About 45 minute drive to Eureka. Easy access to cute towns like Ferndale. We stayed in site 8AC which was very large (we had 3 tents) and next to two ADA sites which were rarely used. Some sites (primarily on the north side of the loop road) are small and on a hill. Sites 39 and 40 are near the creek and very private.

As one would expect in a Redwoods camp there are loads of big, gorgeous redwoods at the campsite and all around. The South Fork Eel River is a short hike across CA254 (Avenue of the Giants) and at this time had lots of sandbars to relax on and fish or swim from. The campsite is massive. We were close to the entrance off of CA254 and unlike what the description says it was *not* quiet. We could hear every vehicle pass by. It seems like every other vehicle is either a Harley or a giant truck with knobby tires, so expect to be annoyed. Yet, each campsite is isolated enough that you can't hear or see squat from the neighboring campers. Weird, but yah! The bathrooms were *clean*. Cleanest I've seen in a SP. Short drive to the rest of the park.

Really beautiful, private area with an easy, flat walk in. We chose site 4, but, next time, I think we'd go for site 3 as this was nearer the parking area, but still very private - set away down its own path. Site 5 - in the meadow - looked beautiful, but was a bit more of a shlep from the cars. The area really did feel remote - almost an hour's drive from the visitor centre (and wifi/ cell service, if that bothers you...), however, it was close to a lot of trails, and the old growth redwoods - a definite plus. We were there in mid-August and it was COLD at night (and wet, which we hadn't expected!) but warm in the day. Slightly more traffic noise than anticipated, from cars accessing trails, but otherwise peaceful.

This campground is lovely. Opened Memorial Day weekend. There are clean, spacious restrooms, showers, and even and giant laundry tubs/sinks. Offers a variety of spots, from heavily forested to open meadow. There are a few site that offer privacy. I found the employees to be wonderful and most of the campers to be well behaved. This place seems to attract real outdoors enthusiasts so you may have some loud, drunk neighbors but they go to bed early so as not to miss out on fishing. Like all state parks in California, dog are welcome in the campground but not on any trails. You can’t access an of the streams legally with a dog. Head the signs warning against RVs and trailers.

Terrible experience camping here!!!! All camp sites we saw were really small. Our tent was literally 2 feet from the picnic table. After our young kids went to bed we tried to play a quiet card game at the table. Apparently talking isn't allowed after 10pm though because we had a sheriff (not even a park ranger) come over and tell us we needed to be quieter. So we finished up our game whispering as to make sure we didn't disturb anyone, then went to bed. The next day the Sheriff came back to tell us there had be another complaint about us at 2am. We explained that were asleep at 2am so there was no way it was us, but he didn't care at all and told us we had to pack up and leave. Our kids were so sad!! We will NEVER camp here again!!!!!!!!

Secluded and quiet campground, with just three sites total. #3 is nearest the parking area and composting pit toilet. #4 is also in the trees. #5 is furthest from the entrance and closest to the stream, but much smaller and wetter. Overall, if I camped here again, I'd pick #4. Keep in mind that you need to check in first at Albee Creek Campground kiosk to get the padlock number to open the gate to the access road, so don't show up too late in the day (or else you'll be locked out and unable to access the campsites, which are about a mile up and down a gravel road from the locked entrance gate, which is on the north side of the road, west of Albee Creek Campground and the Baxter Campground turn-off).

Hidden Springs is gorgeous! Heavily forested, better for tent camping than trailers, facilities are very nice. A few spots enter great group camping, but most are better for individual spots. It's also quite a ways to walk to the river for swimming and fishing (and involves crossing Avenue of the Giants). One of my favorite camping places!

I do enjoy staying at this campground for the stillness and quiet is has to offer. For an adventure, there are countless redwood hiking trails, or I can take a 2 hour drive to either the Lost Coast and hike California’s Black Sand Beaches - or - up north to explore cities like Eureka. My favorite site is #37 because it is level, receives morning shade, away from the main road, and is backed by a hill so there is some degree of privacy, and has nearby restrooms and showers.

This is a nice campground, some of the sites are quite close together an offer little privacy, but I scoped out the ones that looked best: 13, 14, 16,20,22, 36. Some are under redwoods with ample shade, while others are on the meadow. Coyotes did wake us at dawn with yipping that went on for a lengthly amount of time, we didn't mind though and got up to see the sunrise. There is a trail beyond the meadow that horseback riders pass on throughout the day, and deer hang out in the meadow as well. There is access to the Eel River nearby which we enjoyed, and since dogs are not allowed on the trail, we walked down the road to the campground and that was a wonderful walk. Please note you do need quarters to take a shower.

Camped here for 1 night in January during off-season (This is the only campground in Humboldt Redwoods State Park that is open all-year round) so there were plenty of open sites and the atmosphere was calm and quiet. Their bathrooms are very clean and brightly lit at night. Flush toilets, running water, mirrors, and showers make things convenient. I stayed at site #38 and like another reviewer mentioned, it was a bit on a slope but we positioned our heads on higher ground so it wasn't too bad to get a good night's rest. The campground is in the perfect spot to explore the gorgeous Avenue of the Giants and is located right next to the visitor center where you can pick up some pamphlets with the best spots to check out.

Stayed at campsite 38 for just 1 night. I have to say, though the campground was beautiful and most other sites appeared flat, this specific site was on a steep hill and very uncomfortable to camp on. My other complaint was that there was no swimming hole, and while there was a path to access the river, by mid July even on a year with high rainfall, the water was barely calf deep. I would consider staying here again #1 if it were at a different site and #2 if it were earlier in the year before the low river and algae blooms set in. Otherwise a truly gorgeous setting providing easy access to the avenue of the giants. Just a few miles down the road from Founders and Women's Federation Grove, where I've heard the swimming is much better.

Albee Creek is a great little campground accessed via a bumpy but beautiful ride through old-growth redwood forest. We were towing a teardrop trailer, and though a sign said "trailers and RVs not advised," we and others made it just fine by taking it slow. The campground itself was clean and well-maintained. There are many sites under the redwoods but most seemed to offer little privacy. We were in site 22, facing the meadow, and had a beautiful view during sunset and sunrise as well as prime stargazing. Personally I found 22 and 23 best in terms of privacy and views, but site 25, though pretty open, backs right up to the meadow itself. The frogs from the creek sing you to sleep, and there were deer that visited the meadow in the evenings.

Williams Grove Campground is surrounded by some of the biggest, oldest trees in America. Their majestic nature is best summed up by our friendly park ranger: "this is God's country".
Situated on the Avenue of the Giants, this campground might be the best large group campground in all of California. There are two sites (40 person and 60 person) with sprawling places to lay your tent throughout the forest and near the riverside. If you can, book both!
The riverside is a great place to lounge about through the daytime, and on both sides of the river there are great trails for a hike or a run through the forest.
When the eel river has a good flow, this is an excellent place for a paddleboarding or kayaking adventure.

This campground is simply incredible. If you can round up a big group of family or friends, do it.
The ancient redwoods and the easy access to the beautiful Eel River make for a magical adventure. Plus the campground offers massive grills and tables (at both sites), which is really special for a big group gathering. Get both sites if you can!
Fair warning, even though you are in the middle of woods and nowhere near anyone else, we had the 10pm quiet time curfew strictly enforced by an angry ranger (at 10:05pm).

The quietest campground I've ever been in, though admittedly, it was February and rather rainy. So atmospheric in and amongst nature's cathedrals, just spectacular. The whole campground is very shady nestled amongst the redwoods which makes it deliciously cool in summer but a little chilly in winter.

Stayed at site 25 for a couple nights. Lots of RVs and right by the road, but there was surprisingly little traffic and it wasn't too loud overnight. Right in the middle of Avenue of the Giants, close to Founders Grove and next to the main visitors center with an exhibit and lots of maps and helpful advice. I took my dog who was allowed in the site but not on any of the adjacent hiking trails. Worth stopping in Miranda for groceries, not too much in the smaller towns and Weott and Myers Flat

Albee Creek is about 5miles up on Mattole Road: filled with ruts and potholes, so it seems like you're heading somewhere less-than-awesome. But the campground is a great destination, and you'll be greeted with a campground host if you arrive before 8-10pm. Try to arrive before sunset. The sites are underneath redwood trees and overlook a huge open field with tall mountains in the background. The bathrooms/showers are well maintained and heated when it gets cold overnight. About .5 miles back down the road towards Hwy 101 is 'Big Trees' area where you can see some enormous redwoods. Worth the short walk or at least stopping by before you head off. A beautiful campground where everyone seems to be having a great time.

Super secluded. Had the entire campground to ourselves. Not a popular spot for families, HUGE plus for us! Went in July. Warm days, cool nights. Sun-ripened blackberries everywhere! Even saw a bear eating apples in a tree (near campsite 5). Rec: Campsite 4.
