Surrounded by redwoods, river access, and quiet coastal beauty, Terwer RV Park is a simple, old-fashioned place to camp. We are not a luxury resort, and that is part of the charm. You will find open space, scattered trees, RV sites, tent camping, fresh air, and a slower pace.
The Klamath River is just over the levee, only a short walk from camp. It is a beautiful place to fish, swim, or sit by the water. The river is known for salmon and steelhead fishing, and a valid fishing license is required. During peak fishing season, especially in August and September, you may hear early morning activity from guests heading out to the river.
We are located about 4 miles off Highway 101, close enough for easy access but far enough away to enjoy a quieter stay. Wildlife is common in the area, so please secure your food and trash at night.
There is plenty to explore nearby, including Redwood National and State Parks, Trees of Mystery, Klamath River Jet Boat Tours, coastal viewpoints, hiking trails, biking routes, and quiet places to wander among the redwoods.
A few things to know before you book:
-Firewood is available on site.
-Cell service can be spotty depending on your carrier. Free Wi-Fi is available and reaches most of the campground.
-Electric vehicle charging is $10 per charge and must be arranged ahead of time. 50 amp service is limited, and guests must provide their own adapters.
-Well-behaved pets are welcome.
-Kids and laughter are always welcome.
-We offer dry camping, 30 amp sites, and 50 amp pull-through sites.
-Late arrivals are okay. If you plan to arrive after 10:00 p.m., please text us before 9:00 p.m. so we can send you check-in instructions.

Osprey’s perch is a small campsite perched above the Salmon River. The pit toilet is just downhill from the camp at the end of a trail winding down through the meadow and to the right. There is private access to secluded swimming and fishing holes on the lower Salmon River down the meadow trail and to the left. A bridge provides shelter from rain if needed. The area is known for its world class steelhead fishing and is unparalleled in its natural beauty. The elk even stop by occasionally on a late winter/early spring morning if you are lucky enough to get the timing right… I hope you enjoy our most recently additions, tent pads on a nice deep bed of chips, and a dog run for your best friend!

Parking spots are on flat grassy field, near neighborhood road, typically very quiet and dark at night.
We have nice bay breezes most every summer afternoon, and summer daytime temperatures are usually around 65 degrees. Abundant organic fruit free for the picking includes blueberries, blackberries, thimbleberries, kiwis, plums, pears and apples depending on the time of year (typically June through November) and we usually have fresh duck and chicken eggs, veggies, and culinary herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage, lavender etc.) to share from our garden, which is a work in progress, like many things!
You're welcome to hang out by the very private creek for morning coffee or afternoon picnics and great bird and wildlife watching--if you're lucky you might even get to see river otters fishing and playing in the creek! You might want to bring water shoes or rain boots if you'd like to wade across the creek and explore the beautiful, serene 60 acre private nature preserve that borders our property.
We have a young son and you'll often find us working and playing in the garden, creek, or around the property during the days

Perfect location for staying in our 20ft camper van for our nephew’s graduation from Cal Poly. Humboldt. Easy walk to downtown Arcata and the college. The private alley driveway is lined with an amazing wall of succulents and other flowers, and peekaboo view of the ocean. Jeffrey was a great host, easy to communicate with and provided great advice on other places for us to check out in the redwoods.

This was an absolutely beautiful & unique camping spot! We really enjoyed the views & being able to eat our meals overlooking the vineyard. The bathroom facility was a nice amenity & was clean when we were there. The wine was also SO GOOD. We had a Pet Nat Sauvignon Blanc and really enjoyed it. I definitely recommend getting a bottle of their wine while you camp here.
The one consideration for any potential campers is that there are 4 property dogs! The dogs were very cute & sweet but they are outdoor dogs that did hang around our campsite all night and did a lot of typical dog things (barking, etc). We personally love dogs and had ours with us so we didn’t have many issues, but if you don’t like dogs, this would not be a good spot for you.

This RV campground wasn’t the most all-inclusive. Showers are available, but are priced out by the minute. However, it certainly delivered on the “Elk Country” moniker, since my sister and I woke up to a herd of elk our first morning there! Also, this location is conveniently located for hiking in the various Redwood parks, and is very close to the coastline. The staff were friendly and helpful.

I actually switched to spot #8 since that had opened up and I was extending as well. They are close so all comments apply to both.
The facilities in general are great and the staff super friendly. The available hottub (under an open roof making it useful in the rain as well) is a great bonus. Wifi is very good, best I've had in any camp spots.
The spots are pretty close to each other but it didn't bother me. The ocean facing ones are semi under big trees with firepits behind making it a little bit more yours. #8 has a big platform for a tent or to dinner upon behind. Both #6 and #8 at least are 30amp which worked fine for me.

This campground was great and had everything! The whole place was clean, bathrooms were super nice and well stocked. It’s only a short drive north to get into big trees and a short drive south to the cute little town of Trinidad. Would stay here again and have already recommended it to friends.

This campsite has such a nice aesthetic—everything felt clean, open, and thoughtfully laid out. The ocean views were a highlight, especially in the evening. The restrooms were consistently clean, which isn’t always the case at campgrounds, so that was a big plus. It’s a really relaxing place to stay and take in the scenery. We would love to comeback.

Quiet alley, just like advertised. You have very limited space, so this is good for folks just sleeping and getting out... not for hanging. Great location! We walked to downtown for dinner, and I ran into the community forest for a morning run.

Camp Trinidad is a fantastic spot if you’re planning to visit the Redwoods! The attention to detail was truly impressive, and the site was kept in pristine condition. We only had one night there, and there was fog, but I could still see the ocean (Site #10) from our spot. I’m sure it’s even more breathtaking on a clear day. The thoughtful little touches on the site and in the campground make it a wonderful place to gather with family and kids. It felt very safe. The bathrooms were meticulously maintained and spotless. The cute camp store was very fun and well-merchandised. I wish I could have explored it more, but we were on a short timeline. We only wish we could have stayed longer. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay near the Redwoods.

Great view for a camp spot! A little close neighbor wise but in a pinch it was great. I’m not sure the name of the woman at the front desk but she was incredibly friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the hot tub at night and hearing the sea lions. Recommend staying here and will hopefully be back one day!

Big Flat Campground
Very quiet here! Staff was really welcoming and very kind. Helped us out when he needed a break! Definitely would recommend staying here! The flat platform was really cool to pitch our tent on.

Primitive camping here but very nice grounds. They usually do have fresh water onsite, but didn't in Summer '18 due to pipe issues. But that is getting fixed and should be running by Summer '19 according to staff. They do have vault toilets throughout grounds. Spots are nice and large for a small campground (fit our 21ft travel trailer no problem). Very private for the most part. Does have some road noise. Has a path down to river with beach access too and is about 10 min from Gasquet market. Note: No AT&T or Verizon cell service here or in Gasquet. Need to drive another 10 minutes to Hiouchi for service. Campground Host at Grassy Flats is super friendly and informative.

A very kind lady at the forestry service suggested this as a campground that may have first-come availability in late July.
All of the sites in the center of the campground were taken. Just as we were about to go to the next campground on our list, I saw a sign that said, "Trail Tent Camping, Units 2-5". Unit 2 was very close and well worth lugging our stuff to have a private site!! The only downside was that road traffic was quite loud at night--bring earplugs.
Our site was beautiful, and our trail site was much more private than the ones in the middle.
Bonus: Walk to Smith River, wild blackberries growing everywhere
Cons: Road noise; no water while we were there (I think this was temporary); bathrooms weren't flushable

We had a lovely weekend here at Panther Flats! The campground did not have all of the organized activities or visitor centers of a State or National Park campground, but it did have decent amenities like one would expect at a state park (bathrooms with flush toilets, shower, etc.) and was fairly quiet. The campground host does not sell firewood or make change, so make SURE if you have an extra car that you need to pay for at the time of check-in that you have a variety of bills, and bring firewood with you! You can apparently buy it at the small market in Gasquet if in a pinch! There is an INCREDIBLE swimming hole with a tiny beach, so get there early to steak out a spot for your beach blanket! Check out the Darlingtonia Bog, 1 mile away!

The rivers are breathtaking, but keep your eyes on the surrounding botanics as well! Six Rivers is home to six distinct botanical areas, set aside to protect them. The rare, carnivorous (!) California Pitcher Plant can be found in Myrtle Creek Botanical Area.
