Osprey’s perch is a small campsite perched above the Salmon River. The pit toilet is just downhill from the camp at the end of a trail winding down through the meadow and to the right. There is private access to secluded swimming and fishing holes on the lower Salmon River down the meadow trail and to the left. A bridge provides shelter from rain if needed. The area is known for its world class steelhead fishing and is unparalleled in its natural beauty. The elk even stop by occasionally on a late winter/early spring morning if you are lucky enough to get the timing right… I hope you enjoy our most recently additions, tent pads on a nice deep bed of chips, and a dog run for your best friend!

We offer a rustic, old-fashioned camping experience. It’s a mix of open field and scattered trees, with both RVs and tent campers on site. Neighbors will be nearby, but the vibe is quiet and relaxed—especially in the off-season, when you might have the place nearly to yourself.
The Klamath River is just over the levee—a short walk from your site—with great access for fishing, swimming, or simply relaxing by the water. The river is world-famous for salmon and steelhead fishing (license required). August and September are peak fishing months, so expect a few early morning engines from folks heading out.
We’re only 4 miles off Highway 101, far enough to enjoy peace and quiet without traffic noise. Wildlife is part of the experience here, so please stash your food at night to keep critters out of camp.
Outdoor lovers will find plenty to explore nearby—hiking and biking trails, the Trees of Mystery, Jet Boat Tours, and, of course, miles of redwood forest to get lost in.

We are curruntly doing renovations at the far side of the park . it is done on the weekends , except on Holidays ,from 9am til 5pm ,because that is the only time my son gets off work from his job, sorry for any inconvenience.

We have nice bay breezes most every summer afternoon, and summer daytime temperatures are usually around 65 degrees. Abundant organic fruit free for the picking includes blueberries, blackberries, thimbleberries, kiwis, plums, pears and apples depending on the time of year (typically June through November) and we usually have fresh duck and chicken eggs, veggies, and culinary herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage, lavender etc.) to share from our garden, which is a work in progress, like many things!
You're welcome to hang out by the very private creek for morning coffee or afternoon picnics and great bird and wildlife watching--if you're lucky you might even get to see river otters fishing and playing in the creek! You might want to bring water shoes or rain boots if you'd like to wade across the creek and explore the beautiful, serene 60 acre private nature preserve that borders our property.

The campground is remotely located on private property and perfectly located for excursions to the Pacific Ocean, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, the Smith River National Recreation Area, and the Pacific Coast Ranges and mountain lakes such as the Devil's Punchbowl, Buck Lake, and Raspberry Lake.
Relax and free you mind while camping on 120+ acres of private property under starry skies with almost no light or noise pollution. You are not alone on the mountain as other people live here in the wild. You only have access to the campground and a nearby pond. A locked gate with code access. The road to get there is two and a half miles up the mountain, the first mile is paved and the other mile and a half is gravel. The road is maintained by the county and used daily by others that live and work here. In the surrounding area you can enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, surfing, beachcombing, birdwatching, and countless other outdoor activities. French Hill Trail is a few more miles up the mountain road.
The campsites have picnic tables and fire rings, and campers are provided with 5 gallons of potable water. An outdoor, COLD-water Artesian shower, out in the open mountain air with the wild things and an outhouse with a compost toilet are also provided. Bundles of firewood are available for an extra charge when you book your campsite.
The campsites are set within a deciduous and pine forest at about 1913 feet in elevation. There is a pond on the property, but its purpose is for wildlife habitat ONLY, so water activities are NOT allowed. NO swimming, NO fishing, NO boating, NO trapping, etc. The wild things live here!
The property owner has a dog, three cats, and a menagerie of yard birds such as turkeys, peacocks, guinea hens, chickens, ducks, geese, etc. They do make noise! Kirk has lived off-grid for over twenty years and holds a wealth of information about the Gasquet/Del Norte County area.
Perhaps the most interesting feature of the property is that it has had documented Sasquatch encounters over the past twenty years that have been published in "Tribal Bigfoot" (D. Paulides 2009). Kirk can tell you about his experiences with this and other phenomena on the property.

Osprey’s perch is a small campsite perched above the Salmon River. The pit toilet is just downhill from the camp at the end of a trail winding down through the meadow and to the right. There is private access to secluded swimming and fishing holes on the lower Salmon River down the meadow trail and to the left. A bridge provides shelter from rain if needed. The area is known for its world class steelhead fishing and is unparalleled in its natural beauty. We’re only 4 miles off Highway 101, far enough to enjoy peace and quiet without traffic noise. Wildlife is part of the experience here, so please stash your food at night to keep critters out of camp.
Outdoor lovers will find plenty to explore nearby—hiking and biking trails, the Trees of Mystery, Jet Boat Tours, and, of course, miles of redwood forest to get lost in.

Abundant organic fruit free for the picking includes blueberries, blackberries, thimbleberries, kiwis, plums, pears and apples depending on the time of year (typically June through November) and we usually have fresh duck and chicken eggs, veggies, and culinary herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage, lavender etc.) to share from our garden, which is a work in progress, like many things!
You're welcome to hang out by the very private creek for morning coffee or afternoon picnics and great bird and wildlife watching--if you're lucky you might even get to see river otters fishing and playing in the creek! You might want to bring water shoes or rain boots if you'd like to wade across the creek and explore the beautiful, serene 60 acre private nature preserve that borders our property.

The campground is remotely located on private property and perfectly located for excursions to the Pacific Ocean, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, the Smith River National Recreation Area, and the Pacific Coast Ranges and mountain lakes such as the Devil's Punchbowl, Buck Lake, and Raspberry Lake.
Relax and free you mind while camping on 120+ acres of private property under starry skies with almost no light or noise pollution. You are not alone on the mountain as other people live here in the wild. You only have access to the campground and a nearby pond. A locked gate with code access. The road to get there is two and a half miles up the mountain, the first mile is paved and the other mile and a half is gravel. The road is maintained by the county and used daily by others that live and work here. In the surrounding area you can enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, surfing, beachcombing, birdwatching, and countless other outdoor activities. French Hill Trail is a few more miles up the mountain road.
The campsites have picnic tables and fire rings, and campers are provided with 5 gallons of potable water. An outdoor, COLD-water Artesian shower, out in the open mountain air with the wild things and an outhouse with a compost toilet are also provided. Bundles of firewood are available for an extra charge when you book your campsite.
The campsites are set within a deciduous and pine forest at about 1913 feet in elevation. There is a pond on the property, but its purpose is for wildlife habitat ONLY, so water activities are NOT allowed. NO swimming, NO fishing, NO boating, NO trapping, etc. The wild things live here!
The property owner has a dog, three cats, and a menagerie of yard birds such as turkeys, peacocks, guinea hens, chickens, ducks, geese, etc. They do make noise! Kirk has lived off-grid for over twenty years and holds a wealth of information about the Gasquet/Del Norte County area.
Perhaps the most interesting feature of the property is that it has had documented Sasquatch encounters over the past twenty years that have been published in "Tribal Bigfoot" (D. Paulides 2009). Kirk can tell you about his experiences with this and other phenomena on the property.

We had a wonderful two nights at Whispering Redwood Creek. It was very spacious, with beautiful trees and a lovely footbridge over the creek. Chris gave very good directions and we had no trouble finding the site. We had a relatively easy drive up in a 4WD SUV, but would have had trouble if in a less durable vehicle or with an inexperienced gravel road driver. We loved the picnic table and gathering area, and felt it would have been perfect size for a larger group than us (3 adults). Toilet worked great, BYO potable water & large propane tank if you want to use the fire. We were totally fine with our small camp cookstove. Would DEFINITELY stay here again- what a lovely experience.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Bigfoot Flat on Willow Creek. Shannon was super friendly and helpful in her messages. They provided potable water and a number of very clean porta potties for campers. There are a few sites but they are not close together. We mostly had the place to ourselves, one other person arrived while we were camping but they went to the other end of the area and we could not see or hear them from our site. There is some road noise but the lovely creek does a good job of drowning out most of it.
There is a good amount of mowed area to walk around and the creek to wade in as well as pretty views of the surrounding mountains. I would highly recommend this hip camp!

this was the perfect spot. great location about 40 mins from arcata, the perfect half point for exploring the giants. site 3 for tent camping was perfect, the fire pit also had a grate that was perfect for cooking. clean restrooms, an abundance of firewood and drinking water were all great. beautiful location that’s down below the highway, private and with a nice creek running through. highly recommend and will be staying here next time i’m in the area! thanks for an awesome camp

Shannon was more than helpful and gave us detailed directions that were easy to follow. The site was clean and comfortable an 20 feet away from Willow Creek. We used the space as a basecamp to explore the coast up to the Redwoods and it worked perfectly.
Both the dogs and kids were happy with this spot!

There are four sites around a central area. We had three families and it worked great for us. Everyone had their own space but it still felt like we could be as a group. Be prepared for a cacophony of bird sounds, there are peacocks, roosters, turkeys and more nearby that like to chatter. It's not too bad if you're expecting it before you go. Beautiful nearby field for sunbathing or star watching. The road in is a bit steep and feels squirrelly of it's rained and there's mud. All in all a great private location for exploring the nearby redwoods. Kirk was a friendly host with some good recommendations for places to visit as well.

This was a great spot! I wish we could have enjoyed the campsite for longer, but we just use it as a place to crash and arrived pretty late into the morning. Enough time spent to build the tent and take it down. The amenities were well stocked and it was great to be able to have a hot shower. I wish we would have been able to have a campfire, but maybe next time! For those who are spiderphobic as I am, there were quite a few the outhouse- style toilet, but it comes with the territory. The site and the property are easily accessible, highly recommend, thank you, Bo!

Quiet alley, just like advertised. You have very limited space, so this is good for folks just sleeping and getting out... not for hanging. Great location! We walked to downtown for dinner, and I ran into the community forest for a morning run.

This was a great spot! Andrew did an excellent job of making it cozy and a perfect spot for us as we headed south for a 7 day van trip. The Redwood are absolutely gorgeous- the dogs loved all the smells of nature. :) As others mentioned, it’s close to the road but it didn’t bother us at all.

Very quiet here! Staff was really welcoming and very kind. Helped us out when he needed a break! Definitely would recommend staying here! The flat platform was really cool to pitch our tent on.

Primitive camping here but very nice grounds. They usually do have fresh water onsite, but didn't in Summer '18 due to pipe issues. But that is getting fixed and should be running by Summer '19 according to staff. They do have vault toilets throughout grounds. Spots are nice and large for a small campground (fit our 21ft travel trailer no problem). Very private for the most part. Does have some road noise. Has a path down to river with beach access too and is about 10 min from Gasquet market. Note: No AT&T or Verizon cell service here or in Gasquet. Need to drive another 10 minutes to Hiouchi for service. Campground Host at Grassy Flats is super friendly and informative.

A very kind lady at the forestry service suggested this as a campground that may have first-come availability in late July.
All of the sites in the center of the campground were taken. Just as we were about to go to the next campground on our list, I saw a sign that said, "Trail Tent Camping, Units 2-5". Unit 2 was very close and well worth lugging our stuff to have a private site!! The only downside was that road traffic was quite loud at night--bring earplugs.
Our site was beautiful, and our trail site was much more private than the ones in the middle.
Bonus: Walk to Smith River, wild blackberries growing everywhere
Cons: Road noise; no water while we were there (I think this was temporary); bathrooms weren't flushable

We had a lovely weekend here at Panther Flats! The campground did not have all of the organized activities or visitor centers of a State or National Park campground, but it did have decent amenities like one would expect at a state park (bathrooms with flush toilets, shower, etc.) and was fairly quiet. The campground host does not sell firewood or make change, so make SURE if you have an extra car that you need to pay for at the time of check-in that you have a variety of bills, and bring firewood with you! You can apparently buy it at the small market in Gasquet if in a pinch! There is an INCREDIBLE swimming hole with a tiny beach, so get there early to steak out a spot for your beach blanket! Check out the Darlingtonia Bog, 1 mile away!

The rivers are breathtaking, but keep your eyes on the surrounding botanics as well! Six Rivers is home to six distinct botanical areas, set aside to protect them. The rare, carnivorous (!) California Pitcher Plant can be found in Myrtle Creek Botanical Area.
