We were not sure at first if we were at the right place. We pulled in where it said picnic and found an area to set up came with porta johns. Dahllia was quick to respond to confirm we found the spot we were looking for. The river is a huge bonus, the kids and dogs had a great time swimming. To find it you walk the Riverbank Dr to the left and it ends at the swimming spot. The sunset was amazing with a gorgeous night sky. It was about an hour from Crater Lake and very secluded. We would definitely recommend this spot.

The road isn't marked, we passed it and had to turn around. There are two roads, a grass road and gravel that are about where the GPS takes you. The road to the beach is rutted but we made it down there. I'm not sure where the tent picture under the big tree is. I couldn't find that tree on the property. You camp site is in a field with no shade other than a few willow trees in overgrown reed canary grass. The site is private and far enough from the road we didn't worry about the dogs. You can hear traffic on the highway. The river has a big deep swimming area hole so bring something to float on. We enjoyed our time on the property and would stay again if in the area. We did catch some fish but would bring a weedwacker to clear more area by the water if the host would let us. A picnic table would be useful for this site.

Located approximately 60 miles from Crater Lake National Park, 30 miles from Lava Beds National Monument, and 12 miles from Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge, our retreat offers unparalleled access to a variety of natural wonders. Within just 30 minutes, you'll find numerous opportunities for hiking, fishing, kayaking, and biking, with private access to miles of hiking trails on public land right from the campsite. Keep your eyes peeled for the impressive eagle activity in the area, as bald and golden eagles are frequently spotted soaring above or perched nearby. At night, you may have the opportunity to join us for star viewing parties under our dark, expansive sky—an experience you won't forget. While our site offers access to seclusion, it's not entirely secluded on its own. Nestled at the bottom of a pasture in a farming area, it's within sight of the owner and a neighbor. However, rural living offers a sense of privacy, allowing you to relax and be yourself amidst nature. Keep in mind that you may encounter bugs, coyotes, deer, and some nearby farming activity during your stay. Our communal camping area features level ground, fire pit, potable water spigot, camp toilet, and a picnic table. Well-behaved dogs are welcome but must be leashed or kenneled on the property—feel free to let them off-leash on the adjacent public lands. Owners are available to provide information and maps for hiking and outdoor recreation activities. Enjoy stunning views of Mount Shasta from your campsite, with seasonally flooded fields adding to the picturesque scenery. The recreation opportunities in the Alturas CA area are endless, fishing, hiking biking, hunting, boating and OHV. The camping site has nearly 3 acres with a view of the town of Alturas and is a great place to kick back and enjoy the atmosphere of fresh air and juniper trees. There are flat usable campsites around the property and one portion of the property is fenced for horses (bring your own water trough). The property is approximately 3 minutes from downtown Alturas with restaurants and stores. The sleepy town is a perfect place to hang out and relax at the big park in town behind the VFW Hall on Main Street, have refreshments at the two bars in town or try your luck at the Desert Rose Casino. The Wildlife Refuge has a self driving tour where you can see all kinds of birds and wildlife. Take a drive outside town to the "Ranches" to see deer, antelope, eagles and various waterfowl! Alturas is a high desert area with wonderful views of the Warner Mountains and has an enchanting feel to it. Temperatures in the summer rarely get over 100 degrees, mostly low 90's, and in the fall the cool nights make for great sleeping. Pop over Cedar Pass to Cedarville which is about 20 minutes away to check out the newly designated "Dark Sky" area. Come up and hang out in this very cool and special place, you will not want to leave!!  The town of Alturas is also in the coveted X hunting zones, X3a, X3b and X2, for those of you who like to hunt. Two sites have full hook ups and the small trailer site on the above pad (see trailer picture) has electric only.  During the winter, the pump house is turned off and drained due to freezing temperatures and the risk of blowing a pipe, so campers must bring their own water during November through March.  Please ask if there are changes in these dates for the water hook ups.
